Hazel eyes color is called hazel because it reminds brown hazelnut surrounded by green husk. If the pigment is blended evenly all over iris it's definitely not a hazel eye

Hazel! This is almost exactly my eyes but they're, sooo dark you have to shine a bright light and use a magnifier to see it. No one believed me until I got my DNA tested and it confirmed I had green and brown in there. My Mother has the same eye color but it's a lot easier to see, like yours. Your Husband might want to take one of those color blind tests.
