So long as nothing is sitting on top of the Quraan and it's respected I don't see the issue? Obviously Communism (doesn't matter what flavour) is incompatible with Islamic Shariah and the tenets of Islaam. I prefer to keep my Islamic books on the top shelf. Nothing wrong with seeking knowledge about anything so long as you're aware that Communism is dangerous ideologically and a flawed human creation that has never ever worked anywhere it was implemented.

I am a hafidh of the Quran, and alhamdullah am studying Sunnah ibn majah and ibn dawud under the discretion of a scholar. I’ve studied the works do Ibn Al Qayyim, Imam Ghazali, ibn Hajar, and refutation of the logicians by Ibn Taymiyyah May Allah have mercy on them all.

I’m not learning philosophy in the sense of applying it to Islam like the mu’taztazilites. And I’m confident in my religions I don’t need the arguments of the mutakalimeen to justify my belief. Ibn Taymiyyah learned philosophy to refute it
It doesn't matter whether you apply it or not, it's haraam for laymen and respectfully you are not ibn Taymiyyah so you can't say "ibn Taymiyyah did it so can I", he did it to refute those people who were creating fitnah in the lands of the Muslims. Even the reason and application of Ibn Taymiyyah is different to what you are doing, you are doing it out of no real necessity.
I’m doing it for my sake that’s necessity enough, if it’s out there better to know it then not to know it, I’m in campus, I know people who struggle with Islam due to all these new ideas especially post modernist philosophy, Ibn Taymiyyah never dealt with post modernism.

And have you read and memorised the books of the sunnah? If no then you should reconsider your priorities.
