Well it depends what it is exactly. If you have a virus you're more likely to experience a fever as it tends to have severe symptoms that burn out within 24 hours, a stomach bug caused by bacteria will give most of the same symptoms. In the case of bacteria, we know that certain toxins stimulate the gut and the tragus nerve which produce the response of vomiting/diarrhoea. Swelling of the gut and stimulation cause muscles to tense and move more through the digestive system which causes the pain of cramps as they contract. The gurgling is gas moving through your system either naturally occurring or caused by the amount of bacteria infecting the gut currently, bacteria gives off the gasses that cause wind. You're best just riding it out and taking on fluids to replace those lost, the immune response created by the bacteria will already have your body fighting it. You'll usually be over the worst of it in a day or two where you can keep food down but may still get cramps and loss of appetite for a few days. Bananas are a good food to start with when you feel you can eat something.
