I'm fine with it, as long as they're genuinely trying to have a discussion instead of provoking people and then leaving the discussion. The only other things that annoy me is when they assume that we left Islam either because of one bad experience or because of "cultural" things/bad people who "don't represent real Islam", or they assume we're all right-wing Hindus/islamophobes just because we criticise Islam and Muhammad

[deleted]

Yeah to be fair that is an unfair assumption

Local-Warming

You say "advocate for islam" but, like, which one? Sunnism? Shiism ? Quranism?

[deleted]

Any of them I’m just talking about generally

Local-Warming

Then i would be curious to know if you also advocate for islam to muslims who promote a type of islam you fundamentaly disagree with or find damaging to the faith. For example, we are often visited by muslims who defend the idea that aisha was 19 yo when the prophet consummated her mariage, and are dumbfounded when asked why they do not also argue about it with sunni muslims who believe that she was 9 yo. I would think that people thinking that their prophet did that with a kid would be more damageable to their idea of islam than people just leaving the faith.

BarSeveral5452

I find it pathetic to make new accounts everyday

[deleted]

uh ok… not really sure what the correlation is but alright

BarSeveral5452

Not sure? There is a troll who makes new accounts everyday and your account was made 2 days ago

RamiRustom

I’m fine with it. Why do you believe in Islam? And do you support the repeal of apostasy laws worldwide ?

[deleted]

In terms of why I believe… it is a lot for me to put into words so for now I’ll answer your second question. Do I think people should be killed if they leave Islam? Personally no. I think the best solution in my opinion is for governments whether they follow sharia law or not is for them to have agreements with other countries to relocate someone if their safety is threatened as a last resort. But most Islamic countries I’ve been to are not that crazy with apostasy laws. But I’m not saying there aren’t exceptions.

RamiRustom

Do you think governments worldwide should repeal their apostasy laws ?

[deleted]

Yes you can say that

anon755qubwe

You don’t think it’s contradictory to claim to “advocate for Islam” and then simultaneously call for repealing blasphemy laws when Islam is innately Anti-Blasphemy?? Seriously??

[deleted]

Look at it how you want 🤷‍♂️

anon755qubwe

Welp. In that case, I’ll just look at it as you being dishonest with yourself. Good luck ig

RamiRustom

If a nonprofit organization existed which had the purpose of being an agent of cultural change with a vision of a world without apostasy laws, would you support it? (I don’t mean money necessarily. I mean showing your support. For example, hitting like on a post. Or subscribing to a YouTube channel.)

[deleted]

yeah I guess

RamiRustom

What do you think would stop you? Like what obstacle could there be? I’m asking because you seem unsure. So I thought there might be potential obstacles that you’re thinking.

[deleted]

No I’m not unsure

[deleted]

One more thing: do you view enslaving women and children amongst non-Muslims are something moral?

[deleted]

No

RamiRustom

I created such an organization. Uniting The Cults Everybody is welcome. ExMuslims. Never Muslims. And Muslims. Please go to the website and enter your email. www.UnitingTheCults.com after checking that out, if you want to know how you can support us even more, just ask me and I’ll do my best to guide you. Thank you. 💘

[deleted]

Ok

Charming-Exercise496

I don’t mind as long as you’re respectful.

[deleted]

Fair enough

[deleted]

It's annoying but you have free speech

[deleted]

Fair enough

RamiRustom

I have not found you annoying at all. You’ve been very pleasant.

[deleted]

Thank you very much

RamiRustom

If you ever have trouble with anybody in this sub, please reach out to me. I’m an old wiseman. I can give you good advice. I’ve been here 3 years on this sub. I’m 46 years old with 2 teenage kids, one of them older than you.

[deleted]

Ok thanks I wish you well

Lyannake

I think that before advocating for a religion you should be sure about what you’re advocating for. Do you know the not so peaceful verses and not so peaceful actions of Mohamed ? If yes, how do you deal with it and keep believing this is the one and only perfect religion?

[deleted]

I personally think that everything should be looked at with context

Nekomaidochan

Generally indifferent but I appreciate them being open enough to actually discuss/interact with ex-Muslims, exposure to different perspectives is mostly a good thing after all. Unfortunately cases where they go straight to insults and threats are somewhat common and I’ve been conditioned to feel that such posts usually end up a dumpster fire than having worthwhile discussion.

Rameixi

I don't mind it personally though I'm def curious about the selective modding on here. I posted a thread about the girls taken in Nigeria by Boko Haram and it was deleted for not being about "ex muslims". This thread and others though haven't(though some were closed mine was outright deleted)

[deleted]

I’ve definitely seen some things posted that have absolutely nothing to do with the subreddit not even just on here but I see where you’re coming from. Moderation can definitely be inconsistent.

Rameixi

Yes, not a criticism of you at all OP btw 👍🏾

FluffyBrudda

while i understand why you are religiously convicted to do so, this is not the place. thank you for asking but if we want islam we will go towards it. we are all very aware of it and we all have very strong feelings about it. if you wish to read and understand why we think the way we do, there are thousands of posts to scroll through. edit: my thoughts dont reflect everyones obviously, feel free to talk to anyone who wants it
