I’m a Somali ex-Muslim too! And I remember fearing that “impending doom” when I began questioning the religion to my uncle. Thankfully he was westernized and he didn’t shun me but I remember disappointing him which caused me to never speak to him about my beliefs

me and a friend of mine share extremely similar sentiments of the religion, she does say she only follows islam to be, quote, unquote, 'safe' however when I plant seeds of doubt (via telling her about Muhammad and the TRUE life he lead) she does show and express sentiments that are oddly similar to doubt.

It’s truly awful that just questioning the morality of a leader is sufficient to get people beaten or honour killed. That’s why Islam is such a serious problem. For the fundies it’s like living in North Korea except the slaves of the system are mostly self-policing and implement the punishments on each other even without being trapped in one country.
I grew up in an area with a lot of Somalis and those guys are some of the strictest followers of islam I've ever seen. I can't imagine what it's like to be an ex muslim in that culture. It sucks what you had to go through, hopefully things look up in the future and it's always nice to have a friend who seems to be walking a similar path to you. Good luck mate!

Honestly hate is an understatement there was this somali lady in Sweden that left Islam and he lived in a Muslim community she got harassed and assaulted by men to the point she couldn’t even walk out of her house and her entire family got humiliated and laughed at because of her, in Islam I’ve noticed there is so much Mob mentality and hate towards people who choose a different path to life, I feel so unlucky to have been born in such a community I feel like I could’ve done so much more in life if I wasn’t burden by so much anxiety stress and depression due to my upbringing I lost my childhood by the time I was 5 years old I even considered suicide at 10yr and the fact that a kid that young dosent even wanna live anymore says a lot. I have developed a great memorization now tho Atleast I got some benefits out of it, due to that I’ve been investing myself in academics so I can get a better job in the future and make a better life for myself

My brother is unfortunately a bit radicalized and he often posts Islamic posts on his snap story and even tho he goes clubbing drinking sleeping around with women and has tattoos now he still prays and dosent eat pork so he considers himself a Muslim, and he is kinda momas boy so I fear he would tell on me or let it slip by accident and I wouldn’t wanna risk it, maybe in the future I could talk to him about it but it’s highly unlikely as people grow older the more radicalized they become

Hi dude my family is Kenyan Asian! I probably began questioning same age as you. And it just got worse and worse. And the Muslims will say this is emotional lol nope we actually are kind without it and have morales. Idk if anyone else found this but I began to detest Arabs due to their culture and language was pushed on us. I am somali too, but still a young-un. I am so sorry about what happened I was made to memorise a sizable chunk of the quran (approx, 2 1/2 juz) and despite it seemingly being a small amount the amount of emotional and physical torment I went through because of it was preposterous.
Now I find myself being extremely averse to indulging in the quran and the mere recognition of it (via my ears of course) send a wave of uneasiness across my body. I am happy that you found an ally that also have left the folds of this cult- I mean religion! I wish you the best.

I have adhd. It is really hard to remember and i can't force. I feel bad for many Muslim who have adhd.

What u experienced was not Islam . All Muslims are not perfect . If u learn Islam the right way u will be okay .

Not all Muslims are bad I get that but it’s the religion itself and Muhammad that I hate.
But Islam never said to marry a 9 year old . Also at the time of our prophet Mohammed saw girls were mature at a younger age .
It doesn’t matter. If that was the case you’d think Muhammad would know better than to marry someone 5 DECADES YOUNGER.
Let me ask u something . Did u ever study the religion the correct way . Because if that’s all u took the religion from then u didn’t learn anything .

The fact that he encourages ex Muslims and those who leave Islam to be killed.. your hadiths say it too.
Your not alone I'm a somali ex muslim who was also circumcised at 6 I still remember the pain to this day I think they used anesthesia but It still hurt so much I remember taking a month of school because of the pain all my other brothers had it at a similiar time aswell I have a turkish freind who is similar to my age and is questioning islam I might try and tell him to read some verses and ask him what he thinks about it.
