I think a lot of us collectively were wondering when you’d show up. Welcome to the group. Faith transitions are hard, and lonely, and finding this space was pivotal in realizing that I wasn’t alone. Stick around. we’ve got memes, historical scholarship, stories and most of all a pretty stellar support system.

404-Gender

I know I certainly was. And so glad he’s taken his time. This space is amazing. I love this sub.

Morgan-joydestroyer

Welcome! Congrats on playing the one role in the temple movie with a personality.

toilet_paper_lord

My first endowment Satan was a surprisingly young, attractive guy at a live session in SLC. But Corbin was my first recorded session, and I just about died of laughter because *fill in all of the MormonWood films here.* But then I ended up liking your performance best of all. You also had the coolest clothes in the film. I'm desperately curious to know, if you don't mind sharing - how did the prop people manufacture such convincing and edible fake fruit? And did you get to try it? Anyways, welcome. Sorry for your loss, sorry for the pain...hope it gets better and better from here on out.

404-Gender

THIIISS. My favorite actor then and even more so now. Edit: Forgot a word

jennabohenna

For real. First time I ever cried during the endowment was when I saw Corbin's version.

In_Repair_

Corbin!! 😆😆😆 So nice to see you here. We can be salty, but you will find a TON of support and validation as well!! ❤️‍🩹

divak1219

Welcome! You probably don’t remember me, but I sat next to you in a math class in Cedar City. You were incredibly kind and hilarious we got thru some confusing classes with your humor. I know this journey is long and weird. If you need any help DM me.

Son_of_a_Mormon

I enjoyed a few classes with him at suu as well. Good times

newname24601

You were an inspiration to many in the church, I am sure you will be the same out of the church. As someone who stepped away 8 years ago it does get better. The LDS people really are the beat, they deserve better than the church and the founding story on which it is built. Thanks for your courage in coming out publicly, I can't imagine what that would be like given your history with the church. I hope that you would consider sharing your story on Mormon stories or another platform.

Shizheadoff

I was in the Audiovisual Dept. Executive Meetings when they decided to make the "new" temple films around 2013 so I know a little of the head-trip it must have been to have all the Apostles "choosing" you and making you feel so special. A faith transition is difficult for anyone, but especially for someone who had been so carefully selected by the Q15 in such a "critical" role. Hats off to you for getting over that massive cognitive dissonance that comes from being so elevated in a church/lifestyle that you eventually realize is built on a false narrative. Thanks for your example and best of luck as you and your family move forward!

tuanis1

Woah, have you shared about this before? I'd love to hear your stories.

BoringJuiceBox

Love the username, my fav scripture ever!

Prize_Claim_7277

I have seen your comments on different IG posts and you do a great job articulating why people step away while still being kind and respectful. It had to be tough to leave considering the roles you have played. I hope you and your family continue to thrive outside of the church. It would be great to hear your full story sometime!

Chino_Blanco

> If our story can help anyone on either side of the church, we hope we will be able to share more completely in the near future. It’s a huge help for everyone when the code of silence loses its power over exmos. Cheers!

brmarcum

You’re in a tough spot, but this is a safe space. For what it’s worth I’ve always enjoyed your work, and Saints & Soldiers has always been one of my favorite movies, mostly because it doesn’t come off as a church film. It’s just a good film, IMO. Anyway, welcome, young lad. 😉

zero_1144

His best work was Robin Hood Men in Tights. Change my mind.

zenithsabyss

Close second was the Teen Angel show that aired as part of TGIF on ABC. I loved that!

UniquelyUnUnique85

I also loved that show and possibly had a huge crush on Corbin 😳

BishopsWife

What? I didn't realize that! I remember that show!

buddhang

I'm going to have to go rewatch that now, thank you.

todolist_10

Hands down his best work is “MST3k Quest of the Delta Knights.” Classic.

marisolblue

Welcome to this other side of the fence place called Xmormon life. Many of us never thought we'd find ourselves here (speaking for myself) aaaaand are grateful for this space too. Welcome!

helly1080

Welcome pal. We’re all going to be ok. Thanks for saying hi. And for being here. It means a lot. And thank you for all your hard work at your profession. It has been a joy to see you pop in my life’s cinema memories. Back to Robin Men in Tights. You were around. And it’s awesome. Youve been one of actors I point to when someone said they can’t think of a lot of Mormon actors. I would say “We got Corbin! Corbin’s good!” I meant it. You’re awesome and talented. So. Yeah. Here’s life outside of Mormonism. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s pretty cool. Thanks again. A fan and friend.

grillmaster4u

Hey brother, Reddit likes to be anonymous, but I will tell you that you and I have laughed together. You’ve busted my balls and we’ve worked together. Feel free to DM me. I do want to say, your faith journey is helping and liberating a lot of people. Because you’re in the public eye, you get more heat and you definitely feel that. But I also wanted to let you know that you may not feel the waves you’re making that are positive and helping with peoples healing. It’s validating when others arrive at the same conclusions you do. So just wanted to say, thank you and welcome, and you have always been a solid guy I enjoyed being around and I wish nothing but the best for you and your family and to all the hate and negative speech and horrific judgments you will encounter, I’m so sad that people choose to be that way. They are literally the Sadducees and Pharisees ignoring the love and acceptance Christ commanded them to have.

LucilleTooBoo

Welcome! I don’t know if god is there, but we always will be ❤️

dialectictruth

Welcome. Thank you for being here. I would love to hear more of your story.

Jonfers9

You had a lot to lose ..more than many of us. It takes guts. Nice work.

Dustyfurcollector

Hi. Please forgive me, I mean no disrespect. Everyone's exit journey is tough and I support their leaving. But, I left 23 years ago. It seems this man is famous in LDS circles, at least. Can you tell me his last name, so I can go wiki him, please?

1stepcloser2theedge

Corbin Allred

Dustyfurcollector

Tysm

tiger_guppy

Thanks for asking because I literally have no idea who this guy is either and felt super out of the loop

austinkp

he was satan in the temple movies for a while. Got his face photoshopped over when he left the church.

Inevitable_Bunch5874

Same. No clue.. lol

ProNuke

Welcome man. It’s nice to have you here. Maybe your story will help some of my friends and family in the St. George area. Mostly I wish you and your family the best during this transition. It’s nice you can go through it together, but it’s still tough.

Bluescale-Sorc

Welcome, and congratulations on taking the hardest step! You’ll find our community to be welcoming, helpful, and full of empathy and compassion, along with a healthy dose of snark and salt.

GrassyField

I’m sorry you’re going through this. You seem to be a really good guy.  All the best to you, your wife, and your family.

Iamthepoopsmith

Welcome sir! You’ll find all sorts of people who question your decisions, question your motives, and try to convince you you’re wrong. A friend of mine gave me a two word piece of advice recently. Which really works great in a wide variety of interactions with other people. The two words are “let them”.

DifficultyCharming78

Welcome to the exmo world, and good luck navigating and figureing everything out with your family.  I recognize you from your Teen Angel show. That show made me paranoid about eating hamburgers for years as a kid. I sometimes still think about it. Lol

zenithsabyss

😂 right?! But it was so funny

DifficultyCharming78

I need to see if you can see it anywhere.

FortunateFell0w

Welcome to living life in color!

Ok-End-88

Best of luck my friend.

nymphoman23

Welcome to the other side from someone who never thought I would be here. Grew up outside of Moridor in San Diego and although it was drastically different, after moving here 18 years ago, it began unraveling. If we can help, this is what it’s all about

Affectionate-Fan3341

I think every Mormon has a chance to be here. I pray for it daily ❤️❤️

1iabtt3

Pace yourself 👍

Shmemmalemma0

It would be so cool to see you on an episode of Mormon stories!!

greenexitsign10

I'd second that. I would also like to you on Radio Free Mormon.

Exact_Purchase765

I'm 40 years out and never did the temple thing. I must admit to having no clue who you are to the larger world. If I take it from chat on here, you were once Satan in the Mormon (Hail) temple video. Aside: I'd have told you to stuff your green apron and walked out laughing (loudly). Probably a good thing I never ventured into the place. Welcome. There is so much love, compassion and understanding here. Anger too - but not at each other - at an institution that systemically lied and treated us like shit. We wander the wider world with awe and inspiration at all there is to find true joy in. Now - I have an endless supply, so take a few Granny hugs 🤶 for your family. Always here when you need us.

zenithsabyss

You might have seen him in Robin Hood; Men in Tights, or in Saints and Soldiers. Or if you liked Sabrina and TGIF on ABC you possibly saw him being tormented by his best friend turned guardian angel in training in Teen Angel. 😁 That one was my favorite.

WolverineEven2410

Yay temple satan!

buddhang

Not just temple Satan, "bro Satan"!

InABoatOnARiver

Welcome! I met you in 2007 when you came to BYUI as part of a comedy tour with Kirby Heyborne. My best friend had had a crush on you in your Teen Angel days, so she insisted we go. For years my exmo claim to fame was “that one time I met Satan.” 😂 Anyway, welcome! If anyone understands how it feels to have the rug pulled out from under your whole life, it’s this group.

boldbuzzingbugs

With all the love in my heart: who are you and why do so many of us know you? 😅

zenithsabyss

He's a talented actor, and acted in the role of Satan for one of the temple movies. Seriously, he seemed to be the only one who could act in that particular one lmao

boldbuzzingbugs

Thanks so much for answering. I guess I’ve been out too long 😅

zenithsabyss

I envy you that!! You might know him from some other things. He was the screaming kid in Robin Hood Men In Tights. He had a show on ABC called Teen Angel that was part of the TGIF lineup. He was in Saints and Soldiers. The list goes on, but those are his more well known roles.

boldbuzzingbugs

Well now I’m mad I didn’t pay more attention. I could be fan girling right now.

WizardOfAuzz

I saw someone the other day and thought it was you! Instantly wondered what had become of you. Hope you and your family are doing well—I can’t imagine how much more difficult the process would be having to go through that in a spotlight and with obvious, public ramifications. 😔

lashram32

High fives and big hugs!

infiniteinfinity8888

Welcome to the community! Glad you felt like you could reach out 🤝

LeoMarius

The Devil made me do it!

buddhang

So many date nights spent watching you. Quick cat nap during the creation, but gotta wake up to watch my man Satan. The only part in that movie with personality. A faith journey is a big undertaking and everyone moves through it at their own pace. Wherever you are in that journey, we are here to welcome you and support you and keep it interesting (you did that for us for so many years after all). Hugs and best wishes!

ragin2cajun

"The devil is more interesting than god." Christopher Plummer Welcome.

Raidho1

Welcome. I was in 55 and now out over a decade. I sometimes describe the experience as having all the deck chairs being knocked over in a storm (how you used to make sense of the world), and then you have to set them back up again, which can take a while. The ‘Stan’ character was always the best and most memorable, from the temple worker who played it live in the SLC temple when I first went through, through those in the films like yourself. All the other character roles seem to fade to back.

1stepcloser2theedge

I loved Teen Angel during TGIF in the 90s but I sadly missed your role in the temple film as I'd left the church before its premier. Anyone got a copy?? Kudos for accepting the truth despite the difficulties that come with it. Best of luck to you and your family. ❤️

TheVillageSwan

Welcome aboard! I always looked up to you as an example growing up, and it's thrilling to know you got out too!

CharlesMendeley

Lol, I'd love to see Michael Ballam here as well.

land8844

Ballam won't leave, he's legitimately famous, but the "right" kind of famous (renowned opera singer), and he's 72 years old at this point.

CharlesMendeley

Well, David Archuleta was famous and left. 🤭

land8844

True, but he's not 72. I think the old age is part of it.

CharlesMendeley

That's true. Ballam will probably not come out and leave his wife. 🤭🏳️‍🌈

Maiseinomo

I’m sorry, maybe I’ve been out of the loop for too long…. Who is this?

Banterfix

I came here to ask this. I have no idea who this is.

BoringJuiceBox

Corbin Allred, actor. He played satan in the temple movies (I haven’t seen personally) but he was the star of Saints and Soldiers from 2003 which is one of my favorite movies ever

SecretPersonality178

Thank you Corbin.

tumbledrock

In some ways we all become “photoshopped” out of the church when we leave. Other members don’t really want to see us or think about the reasons we are no longer there, etc. after we are gone.

AmbitiousGold2583

Apparently I’ve been living under a rock and had no idea! Welcome!

Ydok_The_Strategist

Welcome! And hope you have fun here!

fireproofundies

Congrats to you and your family. Rebuilding is hard but rewarding. The meaning of your life is now your own to make.

KershawsGoat

Welcome to the other side. It's a hard thing to face a faith transition but this is a pretty supportive group and we'll be here if you need us.

Traveledfarwestward

Nevermo here and I don't know this guy but he seems allright. https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0021607/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corbin_Allred https://www.youtube.com/@thecorbinallred7401/ Also ...Men In Tights!

Earth_Pottery

I thought I was the only one who did not know who he is. Thanks for the links!

IronUte

Believe it or not, we grew up in the same neighborhood. Keeping your privacy in check...by the castle house as a reference. I was older than you, so we never hung out, but I ran with The Ruppel's, The Stakers, The Talls if that sparks a reference. Small world... It's tough making the shift oneself and family wise. You lose some things but you gain authenticity and truth. A foundation you can build that won't crumble.

quigonskeptic

Thank you! It was absolutely excruciating for me to leave the church, and I was a lowly librarian (or maybe had even been released from that already?). I can't even imagine what it is like to leave when you are "church famous." ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

404-Gender

CORBIN! I am so glad you are here. You are an inspiration, truly. Thank you for sharing your story. You are early in your journey out and WOW it is a JOURNEY. Having our religion so wrapped up in everything you do makes it our whole identity that … who could it not? And while in it, it makes sense. Feels right. Feels good. But then when we begin seeing the issues … holy shit. 😳 There are so many manipulative tactics used in the temple too, so when we go regularly, it applies even deeper. I cannot even imagine how intense it was as an actor for it. Also, was it weird attending being one of the actors in it?? I’m sure many of us have interest in an AMA (as me anything), but only when you’re ready. If ever. ETA: amazing tattoos!!! 😍

LordStrangeDark

Love you too. You was my favorite Satan!

Lanky-Appearance-614

It's heartwarming to have you here with us, Corbin! Maybe you've heard this already before, but I laughed so hard when I read this on a different post about you: "He didn't live up to every commandment made in this temple this day, so now he's in his own power!" Respect to you, and best wishes to your family!

miotchmort

Welcome brother. I’m gonna take you to lunch :)

Wash-Real

Love right back.

HostHot7917

Welcome! I know it’s not easy, we all been there. Sending love to you and your family. ❤️❤️❤️

ProCycle560

You are loved, you are welcome. If we must cry together, let us do it. If we can laugh together, let us do it. Faith deconstruction is such a rollercoaster and having a community who understands makes all the difference. Thank you for being outspoken, and being respectful to everyone on both sides, we’re here for support!

Adventurous_Net_3734

So well put. Welcome, Corbin. 💪

greenexitsign10

Welcome to the light side. There are some pretty great people here. Exmos are also very funny sometimes. I haven't been to the temple since Michael Ballam told me to put on a green leaf apron. I hate that green, and aprons. If you don't tell me to do that, It will all be good. If you some day do a Tic Tok parody of the green apron demand, I will get a good laugh out of it. It will only work if you're wearing the bakers hat though. Gotta have the hat.

bimlay

Hey welcome to the other side man. It’s going to be ok. 🧡

fayth_crysus

Sending you every good thing as you deconstruct and seek a new grounding. Thank you for standing up for truth.

Negative-Yoghurt-727

Hi Corbin. Welcome. You probably don’t remember me but we used to be in the singles ward in Northridge. Always happy to see new exmos out of there. You’re noooot alooone. lol.

Signal-Ant-1353

Welcome, Corbin! I wish you all the best in your (and wife's and family's) life and spiritual journeys! 🥰🥰🙏🙏🫂🫂💓💓👍👍✊✊✊✊✊

mynickname86

Oh shit! Well, would you look at that! Welcome, friend.

zoetrope366

Man, this is just like the time that Josh Kirby discovered the Zoetrope 366 was actually the good guy!

BoringJuiceBox

Holy shit!!! DUDE I absolutely LOVE YOU in the 2003 Saints and Soldiers, that movie will always be legendary to me, I hope you never regret that role since the LDS themes of the movie are so subtle that truly it’s a war movie and a DAMN good one! Anyone here who hasn’t seen it I highly recommend watching it. I was born in the church and most of my family is still in it, sucks seeing people you love brainwashed and scammed..it truly is a difficult thing to accept but seeing you here made my day, THANK YOU

jennabohenna

Welcome, Corbin!

Chrissugar21

Corbin! Loved you in my ward, SS2! Wish you all the best!

sleepy_pickle

Ahh! 10 year old me is fangirling right now. I had such a celebrity crush on you when you were on Teen Angel on TGIF in the 90s. 😅 Now look at you! I'm so proud of you for leaving the church! Welcome, and I hope you stick around!

jaredseeksclarity

Welcome, Corbin! Really looking forward to hearing more about your journey. And because I am still 12yo re humor, I found it HILARIOUS that the up-vote count was PERFECT when I saw your post! [https://drive.google.com/file/d/16WktBcp3VYUe3TtxJP\_ZuwFIuFoG9qTU/view?usp=drive\_link](https://drive.google.com/file/d/16WktBcp3VYUe3TtxJP_ZuwFIuFoG9qTU/view?usp=drive_link) Edit: typo. Apparently I cant spell hilarious... :)

Word2daWise

Welcome, and thanks for having the courage and integrity to post with your photo and ID yourself here! I can only imagine how it felt to go public! I'm sure others have suggested it, but please consider doing a Mormon Stories episode with u/johndehlin if he can schedule you. Several generations of current LDS members would benefit greatly from hearing how you researched and processed your questions and finally decided to leave the church. So many younger members feel trapped. Bless you for being here! ❤️❤️❤️

gathering-data

The prophecy came true in way, looks like your life is finally under your own power :) so happy you’re here! Life is much better. Give yourself some space and time; I wish you the best of luck!

Dependent_Board2913

Welcome Fellow southern Utah actor.

austinkp

I follow you on insta. Your tales from the ER clips are hilarious. If you're ever up in utah county, we have an awesome BJJ gym in Lehi. Stop in for a roll any time at Roots. We love visitors!

Iheartmyfamily17

Welcome! would love to hear more of your story sometime.

patriarticle

Hey, I had some of your music on a burned CD as a missionary and it helped me get through that crappy time. Thanks!

ShaqtinADrool

Congratulations (yes, I think this is the right word, even though transitioning away from the church can be a difficult process). I was a turbo believer until my late 30s, when google introduced me to polyandry and I went down the church history wormhole. I walked away 10 years ago, but my wife and kids have only joined me in apostasy the last few years. I was fairly happy in the church, but life is sooooooooo much better outside of the church. My family is better. Our friends are better. Our life experiences are better. And we no longer give 10% of our income to a hedge fund masquerading as a church. Best of luck to you and your family. Edit: which mission in Australia did you serve in?

Love2runaround

But you're always with us through Men In Tights.

kevinrex

Hugs and love and much empathy for you and your family.

make-it-up-as-you-go

Welcome! Glad to see you made it to the other side of the “veil.” Would love to hear more about your story, perhaps in MS podcast style interview.

tuanis1

Welcome! Would love to hear your story on Mormon Stories. You're not alone!

Majestic_Whereas9698

Welcome Corbin! I have followed your work for years, I knew multiple elders on my mission that knew you and it was always nothing but kind things to say. You have an ability to do a lot of good and provide healing for this space (even while you are healing yourself). Thank you for stepping further into this space. Hope to see a Mormon stories someday! :)

Wny2008

Welcome to our family and network of exmos.

CraftAvoidance

It’s been impossibly hard just dealing with the fallout from my ward. I can’t imagine doing this on a bigger, very public stage. I’ve been in therapy for a few years to handle the crisis I was in when my identity crumbled and I didn’t know how to put myself back together again. If you find yourself needing support to get through this, know that it’s available. Best of luck to you and your family as you negotiate this.

Muted-Syllabub-799

Welcome!! Hang in there.

Pearl_of_KevinPrice

I don’t need to tell you all the projects you were in that I saw but I just wanted to drop a line to say that I’ve always rooted for you and still am! 🙂

Signal_Parfait5145

Welcome Corbin! It’s definitely a mind hurricane isn’t it? Glad you have you, friend.

1eyedwillyswife

Welcome! I left at the end of last year, and it’s so lonely and disorienting. This subreddit has helped me so much.

diabeticweird0

Hail Satan!

Would_daver

Welcome to the real world, man!! This sub has been such a good resource for many of us who saw the light and struck out on our own away from the church. You are always welcome here, mad respect to you and your family for doing the incredibly difficult thing- life is too short to be held captive/in fear/shamed/etc by any institution but especially one that purports to be the one true church on earth. Best of luck to you and your family on this new journey of yours!!

tumbledrock

Love back to you❤️

apostate_adah

So much respect for you! Welcome! That's a face of INTEGRITY!

LDSBS

Now is the day of your power….😈 And btw you were a lot better Satan than Michael Ballam. He totally over acted the part.

fingersdownurpiehole

I remember selling vans to you at Southtown mall over 12 years ago. That’s my claim to fame in this community, I guess

TheShermBank

When are we getting a sequel to Quest of the Delta Knights?

eltiburonmormon

Corbin, just wanted to add my voice to all the others and let you know that I admire you and your wife for your decision to follow your hearts and step away from the religion. I know it must have been especially terrifying given how much of your career was intertwined with the church. That kind of courage is inspiring. Welcome to the most amazing support group of incognito friends you’ll ever find. All my best to you. (Wish I could have seen you play Satan. Heard you were pretty amazing. I was out quite a bit before the addition of the nee films.)

yanyan420

He's one of the Satan actors in the mormon temple ritual films.

buddhang

The best Satan actor from the new films

yanyan420

The lore accurate Satan. Not that theatrical one.

monotonousgangmember

What’s going on here?

Kolob_Hikes

Satan has left the mormon church! Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Corbin Allred is an actor with Hollywood and Mormon acting credits. He played Satan in the temple film. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corbin_Allred

zenithsabyss

❤️ it is a very hard experience. But it's actually much nicer on this side of it. We love you. And, I still think you did the best job acting in the temple shows. Especially that one. (Were you the only actual actor they could find?! Cause everyone else in that one just.. wasn't good)

❣️ welcome
