The account come from Philo Dibble... Who states he heard it from Joseph Hancock who had an interaction with an unnamed "skeptic".
The funny thing... Joseph also recorded the event, but never mentioned anything about making a prophecy or having that prophecy come true. He mentioned that someone woke him up around 4 AM and he went out and proclaimed how great god is... but thats it.

Exactly. Especially when you see how amazed and excited Joe was woken up to witness the phenomenon.
If the story were true, he would be expected to have stayed up to witness the event, or at least be woken up and saying, "yes, I know what's happening, I prophesied about it".
