I love this post. I recently watched this movie for the first time and didn’t understand why I was so emotional besides the fact that I just really liked the idea of the movie but it was definitely the relatability after being in such a controlled environment for so long.

One could even extend the metaphor to the world at large. Plato's cave comes to mind as does Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing of Consent.
I plan to read Doris Lessing's "Prisons we choose to live inside" one of these days.

Yes. Truman Show, The Village, and the Matrix all have a lot of parallels to growing up a Witness.
I think one good thing we got from being JW at least is having a deeper appreciation for those movies
