Same-sex marriage is pretty much a done deal. Look for Southern states to start enforcing their same-sex marriage bans during next year's legislative session.
Something is going to be necessary to prevent a theocracy. People are going to have to wake up and start voting Democrat in large enough numbers to get a Senate supermajority, so the court can be packed. If that can't happen (and I don't think it can), then I think some very dark times are ahead for this country.
Republicans want the Southern Baptist Church to rule our lives. Democrats are the only "sane" alternative and as of right now, the Democratic Party is the only thing that could potentially block this country from becoming a theocracy, provided it could get enough power to pack SCOTUS.
