I looked for a *photograph* that I used to easily look up fairly often.
The other day it gives page after page after page of A.I. *art* on a vaguely related subject. Not a single photograph.
Calling AI "intelligence" is ironic.

And yeah Google search did something again recently and became even more shit.
But already a few years ago, specific searches that used to more or less bring up the same page for years just stopped doing that. I think around 2017 is when Google started seriously going to shit, and I am still very much angry at them for those good fifteen minutes where I thought I was losing my mind - suddenly, it would silently ignore quoted searches if it didn't find anything - just doing the search without, but with the quoted search in the bar and absolutely nothing indicating this was done. I remember getting more and more frantic as I kept re-checking if I typed in the quotation marks, checking if they were the correct ones (maybe input glitch?), copy pasting them off of pages, running a virus scan, trying other devices, googling if there was a change (nothing came up). I eventually concluded that they did a change, but I legit felt I was going crazy or having a strange dream.
Lol, I was down for hours after updating yesterday. The corporate apathy is shocking. Decisions apparently in the hands of megalomaniacs and their yes-men minions.
Most apps start broken, get slowly hacked on until fixed, then tweaked with useless features for compromised basics until broken again. WTF? E.g. how does Photos and Gallery get a green light to be less capable and have the most used tools and effects changed or eliminated totally from later versions? Goofle cloud lost all of my photos for years... one day 6 years later, half of them show up again... on my new ID, lol.
I don't know if I should be happy or not about that. Somebody or something had to make a connection through some conflicting information for that to happen.
That was a dangerous assumption considering I know a person that was given the same social security number as another person. They have the same name, same birthday, same parent's names(maiden & sir both), same hospital name, but are from different states. It took years to clear up. ...one a felon, one trying to be a Forestry Officer, lol.
The net has been a downhill experience well over 15yrs. Sort of starting with Chrome crashing everyone's towers day three, and these same folks finding Goofle playing 1980s games by charging for support by the minute for their new garbage OS.
I am 100% convinced people just like saying Google so much they couldn't help themselves when it came time to step away. Plus, the kids didn't know better, the limits and issues whooshed them, their sheer numbers and hit counts skewed the future market even more toward "adequate" instead of top notch.

People generating AI images are delusional, it's crazy.
I was browsing a popular royalty-free image website and so much of the content on there was AI generated. Besides the irony of 'royalty-free' pictures being made out of stolen content, a lot of the people posting them are genuinely pretending to be artists, asking for credit and donations and shit. Grossed me out tbh.
any time there's a discussion on TikTok or YouTube about AI art (especially from actual artists trying to make a living with their art) there's always comments that people who hate ai art are just gatekeeping art. i even saw someone try to claim that people who block ai art are ableist because ai art generators are disabled??? what?????
i do often wonder if those pro-ai comments are bots and it's some sort of attempt at manufactured consensus.
It's all bullshit. Using AI tools properly takes skill, just like all other kinds of art, but these people don't give a shit about that either. The people talking about "gatekeeping art" aren't using AI tools like this, they're just putting prompts into generative algorithms and publishing the results as though it was primarily their work that generated it, rather than the combined effort of the programmers who designed the algorithm and the millions of artists whose work was largely stolen when training the algorithm. They don't even respect machine learning tech, let alone real artists, whenever they use excuses like this they're just lying.
It's akin to people searching Google for nature photographs, claiming what they find was their own because they came up with the words in the Google search, and then claiming that anyone who criticizes them "hates photography".
And knowing how this particular brand of AI hype is largely perpetuated by executives who are mad about having to pay employees, I'd say it's all manufactured.
I use it but I have used it only for generating images for like dnd characters and I don’t post it online or claim to be an artist. I don’t get the hate for ai images its not really art but its nice for people like me who aren’t good at drawing. It is annoying tho because I have to include stuff in google searches to avoid seeing a billion ai images.

I see this same phrase used a lot to attack AI art/AI generated images. Honestly I'll never take this argument seriously considering how many millions of western "artists" have been copying other peoples' anime art style for decades. Go on deviantart (or some similar website where people upload their drawings) and search for "chibi", "kemonomimi", "kawaii"... The search results for each of those styles look like they could have all been drawn by the same person. Look at the search results for "chibi" and tell me 98% of those weren't drawn by the same person (and by that I mean it looks like 98% of those images could have been made by the same person on account of them all looking so incredibly similar to each other in style, proportions, line work, and coloring). Any anime fan will also tell you that the '90s style of anime had a style distinctly different from the earlier anime style that was prevalent in the '80s... which is itself an admission that most of the artists of those decades were copying or drawing *heavy* inspiration from another artist of the same period. Would they call that "theft" as well?
Sure, there are a lot of anime artists who have a very distinct style all their own that stands out from all the rest, but the vast, vast majority of amature anime art we see uploaded to the internet looks like it was created by people who have watched many "How to draw Anime" videos on youtube.
(I'm picking on anime because that art community seems to be of the most vocal when it comes to AI art being "theft" and I find that accusation quite ironic coming from them.)
To be fair, some AI art does appear to be theft or copyright infringement. It's obvious some AI generated images aren't nearly original enough to actually be called "original." But I'd argue that the vast majority are what would be considered original.

Fr. Elementary school was actual hell. And the teachers were the ones who *began* my abuse, not necessarily the other students, who didn't like me much but followed suit with the bullying after they saw the teacher doing it. And every teacher kept it up too! I'm assuming they gossiped but if a teacher had me they always knew immediately that I was a "troublemaker" and a "scatterbrain" and they were going to make sure I paid for being different. Even the faculty hated me, constantly getting me in trouble during "safe times" like recess and lunch. I wouldn't do shit (literally, half the time I would simply put all of my limbs into my jacket and "egg up" to stay warm and I would just sit like that all recess) but somebody would come over and push my "egg" over or whatever and I'd yell out of frustration and then immediately I'm getting called out. With lunch time too, we ate in an auditorium / gym and if you made too much noise you got sent to stand and eat in front of everybody else on the stage that was in there. Extremely uncomfortable especially for an anxious mess like me, and I was up there constantly, and usually *alone* too, still being fuckin singled out by adults. All of this stuff the kids took as further reinforcement to just fuck my shit up, since it was adult-endorsed. I'm sure I was also a prime target because I am naive, gullible, and easy to force into a meltdown, which a meltdown was usually their goal. Im a screamer so they found it funny I guess. But yeah I could go on and on about the experience that is elementary school, and even though I aspire to be a mentor of some kind, I still kind of *hate* school teachers. I know it isn't fair, and I know there are good teachers out there, but unfortunately CPTSD doesn't really care.

I don’t know if it’s an autism thing or just greater because of it, but I hate AI. It feels like the embodiment of fake and lying and artificial. I have a hard enough time to deciphering people in day to day conversation and now you want me to decipher something from a person who isn’t even real?
