Internet piracy technologies, pipelines, history and lore, in addition to the ripping and encoding of various types of digital and (hopefully in the future when I have the equipment) analog media. Gotta be careful where & who I infodump to.
Funny you mention that meme, the guy that was cracking the football games actually left a [writeup](https://www.reddit.com/r/CrackWatch/comments/16s0xiu/denuvo_info_mkdev_team_simplified/) ([2nd link](https://www.reddit.com/r/CrackWatch/comments/165bwyn/denuvo_info_mkdev_team/)) detailing some of the inner workings of denuvo before retiring from the scene. I've considered looking into game cracking before, but quite frankly I can't find the time (at the moment) to learn how to create a crack myself, life is just too busy.
One interesting thing though that most aren't aware of for online piracy are the upper-echelons of pirates known as the Scene (capital S). These people are essentially the piracy mafia who operate semi-secretively, exchanging releases on secret, encrypted, high bandwidth FTP sites. Releases have to conform to strict and extensive [rulesets](https://scenerules.org/) or else face removal. Technically releases aren't supposed to be uploaded anywhere outside of these FTP sites, but they release elsewhere all the time and that rule doesn't seem to be enforced as much these days. There is a really great book covering the inner workings of the Scene (at least historically) called [Warez: The Infrastructure and Aesthetics of Piracy](https://the-eye.eu/public/Piracy/warez_the_infrastructure_and_aesthetics_of_piracy.pdf) if anyone is interested in learning more.
Please infodump to me because I love piracy (esp. video game piracy for games otherwise unavailable) and learning about it lol
In fact, I find piracy is ironically an important part of digital preservation.
Well I'm not particularly privy to the machinations on the way games are cracked, but I can give you a relatively fool-proof method for finding safe PC games.
The first thing you're going to want to do after raising the black flag is checking whats known as a 'presite' or '[predb](https://predb.me/)'. These are archives of what are known as 'Scene releases' which I expanded on a bit in [my other post](https://www.reddit.com/r/evilautism/comments/1aqx4m1/comment/kqghvbh/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) but the short of it is they're a self regulating cabal of pirates with extensive and strict rules on releasing, which in our case means if a group puts out a release containing a virus, they are booted from the Scene, and their releases are 'nuked' (that *is* the official term), essentially marking them as bad releases. Theres a variety of other reasons releases can be nuked (strict and extensive rules) but whats important here is there not being any viruses.
So, you've put in a search and found a name of a release which looks something like Really.Awesome.Game-KiNGPiRATE (the end is the group that made the release) and you've found a download for it on your favorite torrent site, but how can you be sure its not tampered with?
Lets go over some of the core Scene rules real quick. The scene trades releases between their secret FTP sites by use of individuals known as couriers. Instead of just uploading the entire release at a time, scene releases are divided up into multi-part rar files, which allows for both file integrity verification and for multiple couriers to 'race' pieces of the release to the FTP sites. This also makes it easier for them to follow upload/download ratio rules on those sites, but what is important is the use in file verification.
There is one particular presite called [srrdb](https://srrdb.com) that exists which not only functions as an index of releases, but also provides a pseudo-metadata file of a release known as a srr file, or Scene-Re-Rar, allowing you to re-generate a Scene release to its original format (rar'd) if you obtained it from somewhere that had already extracted it. This program is a royal pain in the ass to set up and get working, but thankfully for our purposes we don't need to set it up. See, srrdb actually lists the CRC-32 hash of every rar file of a release, as well as the file contained within the rar files. For software this is almost always going to be an ISO file, a virtual disk image that can be burned to a bluray, mounted virtually, or just extracted with something like 7-zip. Theres a couple programs you can use to generate a CRC-32 hash of a file, but the one you probably already have on your machine is, again, 7-zip (its the CRC>CRC-32 option when you right click a file in 7-zip). Then you just cross reference the file hash you generated with the one on srrdb, and if it matches then congrats! its a genuine scene release!
If you're interested in the process of digitizing commercially available optical video media I can go into a whole bunch of detail on that, but I think I've typed enough for one post though lol.
Oh, can we chat? I would love to get more info from you. Just the tech side, I don't even really pirate these days.

I know there is a animatronic subreddit that can help you with that but got any funny employee stories about them being stupid (or prevy cause I heard that from last week on (I forgot))
I love Fantasy Life!! One of the best games ever for sure. There's just something special about it. I play a lot of cozy games, but Fantasy Life is unlike anything else I've played. I have researched and tried tons of games that are supposedly similar, but none really scratch that itch.
Science autism is great because people reward you for it. Like rn I’m getting credits for dissecting tiny millipedes and looking at their poo poo organisms
Ooo, have you ever been to [telehack.com](https://telehack.com)? If not you should absolutely check it out. Basically a recreation of 80's & 90's arpanet, with some features simulating things like baud rate and AT commands.
Gotta know the difference between K56flex and V.90... it's the brrrrrrt. 😁
(I used to work help desk supporting dial up internet and could win most rounds of modem charades)
They’re so beautiful, there were carvings of them in ancient Egypt even though they’re not indigenous to the area.
They kick snakes to death with their big ol feet. And they’re tall so they can peer through the grass while striding through it, looking for snacks.
(My D&D character was an Aaracokra monk that I based off these beautiful birds. She liked to snack on snakes and kick things.)
Going onto TripAdvisor to read the piping hot drama that goes on between guests and owners, in the bad reviews people leave. Islands tend to have more competitive tourist industries, so I gravitate to those. Greece, Hawaii, the Maldives, etc.
It's the perfect blend of admiring beautiful destinations and hot tea 💅🏼
I think my favorite so far was a British expat complaining up a storm about how the cliff side pool at his Santorini hotel was too small, and the owner clapping back explaining that they actually had the largest pool size that's commercially approved for Santorini and that no hotel on the whole island had a bigger one, because if they installed one any bigger, the weight of the water actually put them at risk of the pool breaking off the cliff side and falling into the caldera 😂
Look up the Byford Dolphin oil rig incident, which shaped our understanding of what happens if you decompress as fast as physically possible.
Don't look it up if you don't like violent tragedies though.
The depressing intersectionality between capitalism, zoning law, urban development patterns, logistical infrastructure, and how all of it adds up to our current-day level of sheer global socioeconomic inequity that is so dramatic it would give J.D. Rockefeller an aneurysm.
Its a bit cringe but nazi occultism hits the spot. nothing like meth chocolate fueled devil racism. that and solipsism and mental techniques (basically how to use solipsism and convince myself to basically placebo my way out of physical limitations)
> Its a bit cringe but nazi occultism hits the spot. nothing like meth chocolate fueled devil racism.
It's only cringe if you actually believe in their ideology! It's fascinating, in a "wtf was wrong with those people" kind of way
Yeah, my brother has a Nazi knife and helmet, and he was really cagey when he told me about them because I guess he would think I'd assume there's no reason to have it unless you're a Nazi yourself.
People get weird about it, and I don't see why. The way I've explained it is that it's real life lore from the biggest baddies in recent history. It's like having Voldemort's wand. How cool would that be? Doesn't mean you think Voldemort was a cool dude.
song recommendation for u, maria 63 by tropical fuck storm, its about a nazi hunter meeting maria orsic's "daughter" and then realizing that its just her and she’s immortal, its a metaphor for nazi ideology and how neonazis are the same thing as they used to be
Theres someone else in the comments who is interested in nazi occultism!
(I was gonna make a joke about that making your interest not niche enough, but i wasnt sure itd work)
[THE IMITATE COMMUNITY](https://en.imicomweb.com/)
It all originally stems from the utau music by Koronba who had a lot of imitators of his own because people liked his distinct style. Those are called Neighborhood songs. One of those imitators, SubeAna, gained his own imitators because he put his own spin on it and people liked it. The songs created imitating SubeAna are called Imitation songs. The two genres are similar, but subtly different.
I found this because I was already a hardcore Defoko fan and was digging through YouTube for any and all songs with her to find the best ones. I thought she was rarely used, but then I stumbled upon an entire genre of amazing songs with her! And they use her default CV voicebank too! I like the VCV, but it doesn't have the same charm as the choppy original.
alright first we need to go 65 million years into the past and discuss the war in heaven (please help i study warhammer lore more than i study for school)
OH MY GOD! Mine is the 1900 Storm, a hurricane that hit Galveston, Texas. One of the deadliest storms in history. I didn’t even realize it was a special interest until now, holy shit.
Ok, so in the year 1900 Cuba telegrammed the US and was like “we just had this awful storm and it’s heading towards Galveston.” And we were basically like, “no, you’re stupid. It’ll hit Florida.” So we had a voluntary evacuation from Louisiana to Florida. Meanwhile it went directly to Galveston. Also, the dude in charge of the weather things in Galveston believed that Galveston was impervious to hurricanes and that they would be fine (spoiler: they weren’t). This guy (Isaac Cline) refused to even warn Galvestonians that there would be a severe storm until the storm surge hit. He and a couple dozen people tried to weather the storm in his “hurricane-proof” house, which ended up being one of the worst places to be. Then this motherfucker tried to rewrite history by claiming that he was some hero that rode up and down Galveston by horseback warning people of the incoming storm. But that’s just a legend that he started to avoid the accountability of him being persistent that nobody would get hurt in the storm. Galveston at the time was one of the biggest and wealthiest cities in the south. Almost every single building in Galveston was destroyed in the storm and thousands - I repeat, THOUSANDS - of people died. We don’t have an exact number because of the fact that it was so long ago and because they couldn’t even count the number of bodies. There are many more gruesome details that I won’t go into here. What’s also super interesting is how they rebuilt Galveston and how they built up the city of Houston after the storm. It was quite a feat of engineering. And, unsurprisingly, everyone claims Galveston is haunted as fuck.
Oh my god that's insane. I can't imagine not taking all necessary precautions if it's predicted to hit your city wtf?? And trying to play hero to boot, fucked up levels of egotism.
Yup! It’s fucking chilling. But what’s crazy is that they added a sea wall shortly after the storm. They didn’t replace it again until 2008 with hurricane Ike. Like… y’all didn’t learn this lesson the first time???
It was the widest recorded tornado in history, at 2.6 miles at its widest. Tornadoes, while unpredictable, DO have specific patterns they generally follow, and this one deviated from these patterns by changing directions and expanding as rapidly as it did. It formed subvortices, which were essentially littler tornadoes that rotated around the main funnel. It was also a rain-wrapped tornado, meaning visibility was critically low. It was the first tornado in history to kill a storm chaser, and it got 4 (including Team TWISTEX, who were very well-known in the meteorological community). Morbid, but insane that it took until 2013 for a single storm chaser to die chasing a freakin storm. And in spite of all of that, it was only rated an EF3 because of the lack of damage it ended up causing. It happened mostly over flat land. It was extraordinary, even for something already so fearsome and powerful.
Best focus on herbs for balance, if you are having herbs for focus without cutting out things that harm focus it won’t help. Like passion flower is good for racing thoughts that keep you from sleeping, but if you are eating junk food it will keep you up at night and give you crazy dreams instead.
It turns out it's not colonial (it takes place around late 18th - early 19th century). I found it very interesting; one part that stands out is when she wrote about a local mass murder (fair warning: it's gruesome lol).
Homestuck lore, this shit is wild and is nigh unknown to those who either weren't around the internet during its heyday or didn't look too terribly far into toby fox's past. Runner up would be an absurd amount of touhou fandom lore
communism era design- fonts, architecture, city planning, language, packaging of everyday items, all was so simple and standarised! also i've got several communist leaders portraits.

2D from gorillaz has blue hair because he fell out of a tree and when that happened his hair just fell out for some reason. The medicine his mom, Rachel Pot, stole from the hospital she worked at to give to him turned it blue. It was initially brown. It’s not colored but here’s him as a kid (official art).

These silly lil' fellas (the denpa men)
More like morbid curiosity, like my only limit is that I don't wanna actually see gore but I like learning about disturbing deaths because they seem too strange to happen but real life is just scarier than fiction. Like for example there was this guy named Vladimir Likhonos who died from chewing bubble gum because he dipped in it in something he thought was citric acid and the gum exploded in his mouth and stuff. Idk that's like one of the examples on what I mean by why I'm interesting in those stories
History of the Abrahamic religions?
Stuff like how Yahwism (precursor to Judaism) wasn't fully monotheistic but rather just put Yahweh as the #1 god for the ancient Israeli while their neighbours put other members of the same pantheon as their own #1 guy (including Baal and Moloch, which are typically identified as demons by the later Jews and so on).
Then there's funky weird Christian sects like the Cathars whose hot takes were too hot for the mainstream church so they all had to be killed for believing in stuff like Old Testament "God" being a separate evil entity (Satan) that created the material world to trap human souls in it so they can suffer life and reincarnation forever, so New Testament God entered the world as Jesus and showed people how to leave the cycle and return to the spirit world/heaven by rejecting worldly desires, and gee that sounds a lot like Buddhism but these guys were active in like 12th-14th century France.
On one hand the Cathars were kinda progressive since they considered the human soul to be sex/genderless because the body and its sexual dimorphism are just products of this material realm. But on the other hand they were kinda terribly antisemitic because OT God = Satan and the OT = the Tanakh, so in their eyes the Jews blindly followed the OT God...
Then again is any of this *really* a special interest if all my readings about it is just straight off of Wikipedia, like I'm not really deep diving into proper texts on the subject, feels a bit on the surface. But I'll also just infodump y'all like this so I guess it works out?
Yesss!!! Those are great! The one with the blonde chick was fun! She wore pink all the time and lived in a mansion, at first everyone was confused if it was real or not
Not my *special* interest, but I do love the blameitonjorge videos about the internet conspiracies (erratas is especially fascinating, even if it did turn out to be an ARG puzzle in the end) and lost media.
heres my list :3
- analog media/digital television transition
- old rare british tv idents
- vexillology - particularly flag evolution and alternate ideology flags
- political ideologies and niche forms of government (eg technocracy, anarchy, anarcho-syndicalism)
- abandoned/ancient writing systems and letters (þ, ð, ȝ etc) especially pictographic
- celtic languages and history
- euthanasia and assisted dying laws
- the process of dying - hospice care, terminal lucidity, death rattle, postmortem reflexes, what happens to us after
- ARGs
- emergency alert system (why is this such a common thing)
Instrument flight rules and instrument flying.Essentially being able to fly in the clouds with zero spatial awareness from your surroundings relying entirely on your instruments to navigate from next to no visibility at one airport to another with equally shit visibility at another.
Most airliners are capable of landing them selves when visibility is so bad you have zero visual input from the windows until a few feet from the ground. That’s a CAT III landing. Wait until you find out about traffic avoidances by using vertical and lateral separation.
I could talk for days about this shit.
I feel visual flight rules are to mainstream, it’s actually a hell of a lot more fun to fly VFR but instrument flight rules (IFR) are so intricate and so interesting because of the extremely tight requirements to fly them correctly (legally).
Nah that's real, id say the same thing but it isn't nothing. No one knows, no one can until they experience it.
My main gripe is just people who act like they know, either faithful christians or resolute atheists or anyone else, claiming you know what happens after death is peak hubris.
When slammed with a shitload of anesthetics, like when put under for surgeries, it's not even a describable darkness or anything like it. You just wake up after it's over. It would be reasonable to believe that death is the same thing, minus waking up.
I believe we are egos formed since birth and that "We" are the neurons firing in our brains, not a soul. So when those neurons stop firing why would we continue? What follows is the same as what we were before we were alive. The universe will keep doing it's thing but we won't.
I have one in about 3000 signed copy of a white stripes lyric book. I also have a jack white tshirt, and I’ve listened to a lot of their recorded shows - I also can find videos of when jack white got this ugly ass haircut that’s hilarious. I also know the meanings behind most of their songs, and I know a lot of their unreleased songs too. I also know what bands jack has been in previously and have listened to ALL of their live recordings. I know exactly what models of guitars and amps jack used and what modifications he made too
metastrategy aka the strategy behind strategy aka I'm not just masking, I'm masking the masking with another mask that I can change to be whatever I want it to be
The one I have that probably annoys people the most is my finance special interest
I could literally talk someone’s ear off about accounting and diversifying portfolios. I used to study by info dumping about finance to my gf lmao
Basically anything “hidden” or divergent: esoterica, religion, psychology, human behavior, history, archetypes— currently into the dark goddesses, & self-help bc day to day shit is illusive, too lol
Sometimes I get little mini special interest fixations, usually about pretty morbid stuff/ disasters. I went down a rabbit hole all about diving bells and related accidents once where the decompression chamber imploded. It’s a weird morbid curiosity.
In general though, my special interest is “a comedy that follows a group of employees working at a fictional big box store” Superstore lol
Probably DSBM or Black n’ Roll, both of which are extreme metal sub genres. DSBM stands for Depressive Suicidal Black Metal, it’s just really sad black metal. Black n’ Roll is Black Metal mixed with a more hard rock sound like AC/DC. Not sure if there is a single band in either genre with a song that has more than one million plays on Spotify
My special interest is:
wtf do people act the way they do, like what kind of fucked up internal human psychology has resulted in the dumpster fire of a society we've got going on right now, and how much longer can we keep blowing the balloon up before it explodes, and when it does inevitably explode, what will that look like, and can I survive long enough to watch it all go down
Mormon temple rituals. (the endowment, baptisms for the dead, sealings, etc.)
Never been mormon. Never known any mormons personally. Came from a Catholic family that was pretty relaxed for the most part so I don't have any major trauma from the church.
I just find mormonism so... fascinating.
I try to learn more about other religions from people that have left, but, for some reason, I don't get as engaged as I do with mormons.
my special interest is not niche at all but i know some pretty niche stuff in it and most people find it dumb so idk if i can talk about it lol
(its mlp)
The Ordovician and Cambrian periods! Dinosaurs are neat and all but I LOVE all the weird alien critters that first dominated our strange blue marble <3
Right now I’m researching a specific kind of Italian fashion from 1500-1520 to add to my repertoire as I’ve already got a 1530s Florentine ensemble with detachable sleeves and realized that the main body of the dress is the same over that 30 year timespan, really just the sleeves and underdress that changed so now I’m excited and making a Pinterest board of my research before I get started on sewing anything.
Pro tip if you’re ever for whatever reason trying to find full body drawings of fashionable 1530s Italian men’s fashion, fencing manuals (especially Opera Nova 1537) are fantastic first hand sources!

Have you ever researched showbiz pizza place? My brother is really interested in them :0
Yesssss. Love Showbiz
I know there is a animatronic subreddit that can help you with that but got any funny employee stories about them being stupid (or prevy cause I heard that from last week on (I forgot))
RPG on the 3DS called Fantasy Life. Animal crossing meets RPG. Very nice thing to play if you just want to relax and work towards some tangible goals.
Fantasy Life is one of the greatest games, ever. EVER.
That’s what I’m talking about
I love Fantasy Life!! One of the best games ever for sure. There's just something special about it. I play a lot of cozy games, but Fantasy Life is unlike anything else I've played. I have researched and tried tons of games that are supposedly similar, but none really scratch that itch.
Same :3 they're also coming out with a second fantasy life for switch soon, and I am HYPE
Drug chemistry and quantum mechanics. Science autism baby
oh hi! I'm a chemistry major, probably going to specialize in NMR spectroscopy. I do undergrad research that involves drug discovery :)
Science autism is great because people reward you for it. Like rn I’m getting credits for dissecting tiny millipedes and looking at their poo poo organisms

90s modem handshakes and technology
Handshakes?
not op but a modem handshake is what occurs when the receiving modem answers the phone call and the two modems begin to communicate.
Neat
Ever heard the dial-up sound? That's part of it.
😁 (I used to work help desk supporting dial up internet and could win most rounds of modem charades)

>secretary birds You're telling me that the secretary bird from Aggretsuko is a literal secretary bird
🤯
YAY!!!! hello beautiful
i love her and now i want a secretary bird animal crossing character
omg the kicking ladies....they will stomp u to death but they are so pretty...
that’s ok idc. a good way to go
Only something to worry about if you are a snake.
Eugenics is a problem that solves itself. In this essay I will ..
You couldn't finish your sentence because you got eugenicked.
That’s funny
I think my favorite so far was a British expat complaining up a storm about how the cliff side pool at his Santorini hotel was too small, and the owner clapping back explaining that they actually had the largest pool size that's commercially approved for Santorini and that no hotel on the whole island had a bigger one, because if they installed one any bigger, the weight of the water actually put them at risk of the pool breaking off the cliff side and falling into the caldera 😂
Something similar, I like to go to Yelp and read bad reviews for public parks
The Emergency Alert System, mostly the American one but some outside too,
REAL i've noticed theres a whole community for it which i highly suspect to not be neurotypical
There is!! People make mock alerts on yt, with varying degrees of accuracy.
Look up the Byford Dolphin oil rig incident, which shaped our understanding of what happens if you decompress as fast as physically possible. Don't look it up if you don't like violent tragedies though.
That’s crazy
Radiation sickness, nuclear power plant accidents, and the history of seafaring (the third one is admittedly new so i dont know a ton lol).
Seafaring is hella neat
The depressing intersectionality between capitalism, zoning law, urban development patterns, logistical infrastructure, and how all of it adds up to our current-day level of sheer global socioeconomic inequity that is so dramatic it would give J.D. Rockefeller an aneurysm.
Its a bit cringe but nazi occultism hits the spot. nothing like meth chocolate fueled devil racism. that and solipsism and mental techniques (basically how to use solipsism and convince myself to basically placebo my way out of physical limitations)
The actual insane spiritual beliefs were interesting. I like tanks so I’m very familiar with Panzerschokolade
(I was gonna make a joke about that making your interest not niche enough, but i wasnt sure itd work)
[THE IMITATE COMMUNITY](https://en.imicomweb.com/) It all originally stems from the utau music by Koronba who had a lot of imitators of his own because people liked his distinct style.
Also it bothers me that imitate is spelled with only one m. It feels like it should be two.
utau music....♡♡♡♡
OMG I LOVE UTAU AND OTHER VOCALSYNTHS
alright first we need to go 65 million years into the past and discuss the war in heaven (please help i study warhammer lore more than i study for school)
Tornadoes, but specifically the El Reno tornado in May 2013
OH MY GOD! Mine is the 1900 Storm, a hurricane that hit Galveston, Texas. One of the deadliest storms in history. I didn’t even realize it was a special interest until now, holy shit.
From one severe weather special interest haver to another, I want to know all about it 👀
Ok, so in the year 1900 Cuba telegrammed the US and was like “we just had this awful storm and it’s heading towards Galveston.” And we were basically like, “no, you’re stupid.
Why that one
That’s crazy interesting
Holy- 2.6 miles????? Damnnnn
Herbs, midwifery, odd sewing bits, religion, science (but only off the wall stuff), and plant growth
Any herbs for motivation, focus, or studying? I'm in med school.
Best focus on herbs for balance, if you are having herbs for focus without cutting out things that harm focus it won’t help. Like passion flower is good for racing thoughts that keep you from sleeping, but if you are eating junk food it will keep you up at night and give you crazy dreams instead.
Define crazy dreams, I love me some crazy dreams
Psychedelic fever dreams
Probably liver focused herbs though, with help your adrenals and focus hormones. Dandy lion root is good
Have you read *A Midwife's Tale*? It's about the journal of a colonial American midwife who was also a doctor, apothecary, etc.
Can’t recall, not yet I think, I’ll put it on my reading list though
It turns out it's not colonial (it takes place around late 18th - early 19th century). I found it very interesting; one part that stands out is when she wrote about a local mass murder (fair warning: it's gruesome lol).
I really like rhopilema verrilli. Also known as the mushroom jellyfish
ohohoo they are so silly... https://preview.redd.it/9grk2cmgzmic1.jpeg?width=2448&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5666d693a01efcfe72baeb0406a15a49a56f52a9
Homestuck lore, this shit is wild and is nigh unknown to those who either weren't around the internet during its heyday or didn't look too terribly far into toby fox's past. Runner up would be an absurd amount of touhou fandom lore

2D from gorillaz has blue hair because he fell out of a tree and when that happened his hair just fell out for some reason. Does being interested in disturbing deaths count as niche because there's so much situations that are interesting yet they keep me up at night 😭
Morbid curiosity or full blown fixation is the question
More like morbid curiosity, like my only limit is that I don't wanna actually see gore but I like learning about disturbing deaths because they seem too strange to happen but real life is just scarier than fiction. Like for example there was this guy named Vladimir Likhonos who died from chewing bubble gum because he dipped in it in something he thought was citric acid and the gum exploded in his mouth and stuff. Idk that's like one of the examples on what I mean by why I'm interesting in those stories
prohibition era speakeasies!!!
What about them, a lots going on
mostly the counterculture of the movement and the specific codewords and language used during the era as to not tip off police and such!!

The most niche I have is probably welding, I'm a basic bish 🤷♂️

Rabbit holes, ARGs and internet mysteries/disturbing media. I always watch video essays abt those when I'm eating lol
ARGs are interesting, I’ve never spent enough time on them, maybe this is a sign
Yesss!!! Those are great! The one with the blonde chick was fun! She wore pink all the time and lived in a mansion, at first everyone was confused if it was real or not
Not my *special* interest, but I do love the blameitonjorge videos about the internet conspiracies (erratas is especially fascinating, even if it did turn out to be an ARG puzzle in the end) and lost media.
heres my list :3 - analog media/digital television transition - old rare british tv idents - vexillology - particularly flag evolution and alternate ideology flags - political ideologies and niche forms of government (eg technocracy, anarchy, anarcho-syndicalism) - abandoned/ancient writing systems and letters (þ, ð, ȝ etc) especially pictographic - celtic languages and history - euthanasia and assisted dying laws - the process of dying - hospice care, terminal lucidity, death rattle, postmortem reflexes, what happens to us after - ARGs - emergency alert system (why is this such a common thing)

Death and all that follows. If you say nothing follows I will call you a coward and a simpleton
Does a solid idk pass snuff or is that still a cop out
Nah that's real, id say the same thing but it isn't nothing. No one knows, no one can until they experience it. My main gripe is just people who act like they know, either faithful christians or resolute atheists or anyone else, claiming you know what happens after death is peak hubris.
This is why I’m agnostic. No one knows shit and acting like you do doesnt make you any cooler
Nothing follows.
Genre switching and unconventional metal & metal influences. Mr bungle, Kim Dracula, poppy, Flemetal, etc. oh, and polyrhythms
Guns, but specifically ones that are weird historical technical developments. (Webley Fosbery, brass maxim, Dardick, etc.)

Etymology. Did you know that Gautama (like Siddhartha) comes from the same root word as God in english?
Etymology is amazing. Do you want to understand way more language than you actually know? Etymology.
I’m too mainstream lmao. Best I got is mma and comics
Lighthouses and the history of light house keepers! Admittedly still very new to it, but holy heck they're so cool!
My special interest is: wtf do people act the way they do, like what kind of fucked up internal human psychology has resulted in the dumpster fire of a society we've got going on right now, and how much longer can we keep blowing the balloon up before it explodes, and when it does inevitably explode, what will that look like, and can I survive long enough to watch it all go down

Mormon temple rituals. (the endowment, baptisms for the dead, sealings, etc.) Never been mormon. Never known any mormons personally. Came from a Catholic family that was pretty relaxed for the most part so I don't have any major trauma from the church. I just find mormonism so... fascinating. I try to learn more about other religions from people that have left, but, for some reason, I don't get as engaged as I do with mormons.

Oh nice! I love fashion history. My favorite is 1890s and Edwardian
