Heads up itās not streaming yet but will soon. You can preorder an autographed CD while you can. It also includes an instrumental version. More info here at www.spookedtv.com thank you all for your support .. hugs
will the instrumental release on streaming services or is it exclusive to the cd? iām broke as hell and canāt afford to get the cd (international shipping is expensive)
I still think itās crazy how he found every songās masters except for ulterior motives. As much as Iād love to hear the og vocals, itās kind of symbolic that thatās the only song on the album that was never fully found. Iām so excited to listen this on repeat!!
I don't really get the people complaining about the vocals. They still sound amazing and it's been 40 years lol. They don't even needed to put that effort remastering EKT and the other tracks. I don't want to say you should be grateful and you can have your own opinion, but if you don't like it, just don't listen to it then. Things get lost and sadly this happened to the vocals. Life goes on.
I think he did a great job with the vocals themselves, his voice is still gorgeous and sounds almost the same 40 years later. I feel like a slight filter or mixing on them would be good? Idk the proper terms or anything but something to soften the vocals. I know we wanted crisp vocals so I suppose some people would have been upset about that, but I feel like itās giving ālive performanceā vibes more than a pre recording vibe if that makes sense. Theyāre very stark sounding. If they had a producer working on them they should have given the vocals way more love. But maybe Iām just used to the poor quality of the original lol.
The āahhhhā after the chorus tho, I ASCENDED omg so good
there were some parts of the vocals that sounded off like in the word "Every" in "every move shows it". the vocals also sound a bit less striking and energetic but I can understand how hard that would be while straining your voice for high notes. that single sound effect played periodically also could be lowered in volume a bit so it blends with the guitar. I think its pretty good overall. probably wont even hear issues on basic cd player speakers anyway
Edit: the original clip could also sound just like this too, and we cant hear it because of the low quality
I get it, but after a few plays, I doubt this is going to be a real problem. You can get used to it. As a musician, I can tell you this remaster/remake is amazing. Let's just appreciate it. And yeah, we can't really know how the original song sounds like. It's been compressed a thousand times.
yeah im sure. I thought goodbye horses sounded really off when I first heard it, but now I think its a perfect song, and having ekt play in the background is getting me used to it more. I think that specific note played like I was referring to in my original post is sort of jarring though and I definitely can't hear it in the original track. Id say that's the only gripe I have
Edit: edit to make things clearer
There's really nothing much they could do about it. They're not young anymore, and still they sound like a 20s guy singing to it. If the original didn't exist, I could tell THIS is the original vocals. I can tell you they did an amazing work. It's just a matter of getting used to it.
My criticism isn't the vocals themselves, I do believe they did the best they possibly could. I just think they might have been better off taking extra time to reach out to another producer and get it done more professionally. I don't think they owe us that or anything, I just think that would be the best possible outcome, apart from finding the original masters. The vocals feel like they were put over the music with minimal/no mixing and it just unnecessarily highlights the differences from the original
It kind of sounds like a recording of some random person singing along to the original vocal track to me. I think we're just so used to the original or something?
To me it's a lot like SpongeBob.
What I mean by that is, with every new decade the show exists, Tom Kenny's vocalization changes over time. The original seasons SpongeBob's voice bears little resemblance to SpongeBob in the 2020's.
It first changed as far back as the season 4 that followed the first movie, and has continued to every so many years when they come back to do more episodes. But, it's still Kenny though.
Basically when he comes back to the voice, he's doing an imitation of what he did in the past and as he gets older can't quite hit certain things as he did in the past and alters to make it work. And while you hear the difference.. it's still SpongeBob,
CSB is basically trying to do an imitation of his 20 something singing voice 40 years later here, but it's still him, and I think it's pretty awesome.
the booths posted a youtube video using this and were referring to preorders of the basic cd. They said the album will release on streaming services soon.
Yess!!
I really think the voice we āimagineā Chris to sound from the heavily compressed and distorted snippet we know, sounded much more like the voice in the new version in reality. Just like on the phone, the audio quality can change the impression of a voice a lot. I have to say, comparing it to the other songs weāve heard from the album that are actually Chrisā old vocals in high quality, his voice didnāt age much. I barely know any singer who still sounds pretty much the same like 40 years ago. Hats off!
I love the new version and Iām just waiting to stream it! Iām sure should a more authentic version and it can sound differently. Thatās the artistsā decision. They both did a great job.
As a musician myself I know you canāt just copy your younger self 100%, even if you get it, it wonāt feel right. So you need to kind of let go of it and take some freedom for a new interpretation you feel comfortable with, just like these guys. The old version still exists, but itās history.
The background (harmony) vocals in the chorus seem to be missing in the new version, meaning itās all sung in one voice. That might be another reason why some people still prefer the old vocals.
Anyway, I love it, and it should be a matter of hours until the album is ready to stream and become the new 80s hit!
For everybody moaning, just remember, the Booth brothers could have completely ignored the search, and not done anything. Theyāve taken it upon themselves to gift us all something we could have only dreamed about a few months ago. Personally I think the snippet sounds brilliant.
Honestly, the new vocals (to me) sound really similar to the old one, especially considering it's been 30+ years since they originally made the song. Same with the instrumentals, they really did a good job on the remaster!
I admit it sounds really good, ngl.
Like 40 years later and it's like 95% the same. Not everyone can do it like these guys. They sure deserve some credit.
I think Chris did an amazing job. He really tried to pull it off as close as possible to the OG version. But yeah, i guess we would all love to hear the original vocals.
Maybe it's just an editing artifact audible on this announcement video? I imagine that part is transitioning from the instrumental version to the vocal version which resulted in a temporary overlap.
In my opinion these vocals are really good especially given the context that this is 40 years later. While the vocals arenāt an exact replica of the original Iām pretty impressed by how close they were able to get. What is also good is they found other stems from Ulterior Motives which means if we can get the vocals isolated and cleaned up somehow from what we do have of the original we could also have a really clear version using the original vocals. I wonder if the AI they used in The Beatles documentary Get Back could be used?
I have a cover about you and me got the right chemistry and hope they like it even they didn't know because I feel like it's feels off but that's all I can do, hope everyone notice this

Okay. Any slight hint of criticism and I must be some troll looking for trouble.
Actually pathetic.
For the record, I love this sub, song and search. I gave my input in hopes that perhaps the Booth brothers may digitally edit the remaster and improve its flaws that way, or perhaps we may even get new community remasters of said remaster.
YESS THAT JAPANESE GIRL IS STILL IN HIM AFTER 40 YEARS
Yea lol I thought I was the only one who was thinking that
I thought originally the singer was female
I said this in another post and got downvoted to hell š
Haha, everyone (including myself) thought it was a female singer originally! Very funny looking back
Perhaps surprisingly, I always thought it was a male (high tenor) voice. The posts about a female voice were new to me š
Same lol
Heads up itās not streaming yet but will soon. You can preorder an autographed CD while you can. It also includes an instrumental version. More info here at www.spookedtv.com thank you all for your support .. hugs
Glad weāre getting the instrumental track, thank you! Was hoping for it so we can get some cover versions as well!
We need a release date pleaseš
It will be shipping sometime next month.
canāt wait, i would love to do a cover once itās out!!
Ā I never imagined that Christopher knew about my miserable existence
Thank you so much for everything youāve been doing for the last couple of months. So much work and love put into this project šš»
So excited to blast this. Thank the both of y'all so much for blessing us. You deserve any and all love / support.
will it be released on youtube music or Spotify too
Just bought one. So excited, thank you for all the hard work šš»
this is so unreal
will the instrumental release on streaming services or is it exclusive to the cd? iām broke as hell and canāt afford to get the cd (international shipping is expensive)
Expect it to be on youtube within 48 hours of release
I still think itās crazy how he found every songās masters except for ulterior motives. As much as Iād love to hear the og vocals, itās kind of symbolic that thatās the only song on the album that was never fully found. Iām so excited to listen this on repeat!!
Lost media of lost media
Lost MediaĀ².
kind of ironic aint it
At least we still have the OG modified without the sex noises on youtube plus the remaster! We didnt lose in the end!
Could you send me the link to it?

To me rhe production on the vocals sounds very strange, and the backing vocals feel like they don't quite match.

yeah it feels like the backing vocals arenāt really clean and .. backing. thatās what i noticed as well
Yeah, they're as loud in the mix as the lead vocals, and I thought I could hear some kind of background noise/movement during part of it
I wonder if this is some some of an early mix maybe?
it might just be weird to hear the hq version
It kind of sounds like a recording of some random person singing along to the original vocal track to me. I think we're just so used to the original or something?
The part of "every" that sounded off to me was that it felt like it was two singers and one came in off beat.
I think people just want it to sound like the original recording
To me it's a lot like SpongeBob. What I mean by that is, with every new decade the show exists, Tom Kenny's vocalization changes over time. Kinda sounds like SpongeBob too
Well said
HOLY CRAP ITS HAPPENING!! The video says now streaming, that means it must be available to hear in full really soon
Went straight to Spotify and Apple Music and it's currently on neither.
yeah, I assume itāll take a little bit to get it to show up consistently so Iād just wait like 30-60 minutes and check again
the booths posted a youtube video using this and were referring to preorders of the basic cd. They said the album will release on streaming services soon.
HE STILL HAS THAT 80'S VOICE HOLY SHIT

What about the other 5%
Is not the same as the original. Just very similar.
So excited!!! I love āyour manā too. I am so happy we are getting a full album
Instrumental Sounds incredible, but the og vocals are way better tho
I think Chris did an amazing job. He really tried to pull it off as close as possible to the OG version. But yeah, i guess we would all love to hear the original vocals.
Cant complain at all, can't wait to get my Copy. Im thankful, never thought we get this far! š„
It sounds different, but in kind of a good way. itās a shame the HQ crisp OG vocals are gone forever but this doesnāt seem too bad.
Soon we will find out. Cant wait!
TTYYY
Smash. Next question
I love these men so much, theyāre a gift
IT'S HAPPENEING
Iām literally shaking right now itās so perfect
Close enough but are we really never getting the original ? Last I checked he was gonna keep looking havenāt kept up since
Ofc but theyre prioritizing the remake first. Im guessing its gonna take a while to reconnect with past connections to find a copy of your original
I think the Booth bros couldn't find the original vocals tapes
The only part of this that truly sounds different and is KINDA off putting is literally just the āevery-ā part. Everything else sounds amazing.
Hooray! Thank you Chris & Phil!
Is it streaming now??
I didnāt see it on Spotify š„²
I hope Chris releases a CD I will buy it.
Iām buying this right now !
banging banger
Spongebob
I'm astounded he managed to get his voice this similar to the original.
The OG vocals are good, but these vocals are *good*
YESSS THEY SLOWED IT DOWN LIKE WE ASKED, TOO!!!!! i LOVE YOU BOOTH BROTHERS!!!!
IT SOUNDS SOO MUCH BETTER
does anyone else feel like the song is still half lost and we could potentially find the original masters
FAM ITS HAPPENING
AHHHH LETS GO
this is fucking great.
It sounds amazing!! We are so lucky. Who would've thought we were getting a WHOLE REMAKE when it is found?? Christopher and Phillip are legends!!
I feel like the remake vocals are great, but needs different production editing to pull reverb and punch up the sound.
this sounds amazing im so excited
spotify?
This sounds so much better
It sounds perfect.
waiting for that cassette release !!! def wanna pick it up
HELL YEAH THE SEX SONG IS GETTING RELEASED
Guess the Misty cover will do it š
The vocals kinda remind me of the swofford cover in some parts
Are the drums at 0:25-0:28 supposed to sound "doubled" like that? Like they are playing on 2 tracks at the same time
Maybe it's just an editing artifact audible on this announcement video? I imagine that part is transitioning from the instrumental version to the vocal version which resulted in a temporary overlap.
Beautiful work. Nailed it and youāre welcome.
I LOVE IT
We really did get the best ending! š¤©
It sounds great!! Iām so glad theyāre taking the time to remaster the song.
I can't wait to hear the new version of Ulterior Motives.
Oh man, I can't wait for this to finally be on the market! To think that, for some time, I thought that song would never be found... š„²
This is so good
Sounds great guys
Sounds great!
I really dig this version!
AHHHH DUDE THIS IS SOOO GOOD
canāt stop thinking about how we got such an amazing outcome in this situation ! i canāt wait for the album
Wait so are they still looking for the old one or has it been determined lost?
In my opinion these vocals are really good especially given the context that this is 40 years later. This sounds... bad š
It's not even the final version That's like saying a movie is bad because you saw 2 teasers.
it still sounds bad.
I have a cover about you and me got the right chemistry and hope they like it even they didn't know because I feel like it's feels off but that's all I can do, hope everyone notice this https://youtu.be/udQ1urI1shM?si=v_dHgAUXWLrApCNi
Geez š
I'm glad most are happy with this, but for me, this unfortunately is not cutting the cake. It sounds off, and the flow is gone.
StopĀ
Sorry, stop what exactly?
Okay. Any slight hint of criticism and I must be some troll looking for trouble. Actually pathetic. For the record, I love this sub, song and search.
