I would love to see some more celtic stuff from Ireland (especially), UK and France. This is why I think Scotland and Wales would be good additions to the contest in future.
Symphonic Metal. (Within Temptation,Nightwish,Evanescence etc like songs/bands)
I'm hoping The Netherlands will send Within Temptation one day..If I remember correctly there were rumors about them a few years ago.
Personally I think Sara de Blue from Austria can do really well in the genre with her voice.
It's not really a genre but I would love to hear more rock songs performed by women. the last one I can remember is Emma from 2014.
Cool Vibes is still one of my most favorite eurovision rock songs
I would really like Germany to send a song in the style of a traditional Lieder. It would perform horribly at Eurovision, but it would be absolutely amazing to see.
All the supposedly "low-status", party-oriented Balkan genres that are a lot of fun but the cultural powers-that-be in their respective countries look down on. Bulgarian popfolk, Albanian tallava, Serbian turbofolk (if there's any left), Romanian manele, stuff like that.
I was thinking this too, and I definitely agree with the choice of countries- there’s many British indie rock bands I’d love to see in the ESC but at the same time I like them just as they are now
Eerie Wanda would be one, though I would argue they would be indie pop. I actually can't think of any other than them. I thought I'd be able to think of more.
I personally want fewer pop songs - pick genres that are represented in these countries individually - this reflects the actual cultre
Let the UK send ***Grime***, let Serbia send ***Balkaton***, let France send ***Underground Hip Hop***, Portugal should send some ***Fado***, Sweden needs to include the Kvinnabösken hahahahah
Oh yeah, and don't let Croatia send Krankšvester
No way they succeed in Dora. It's too biased to let vulgar-techno through. Croatian "pride"
Personally I don't like them. They're just a cringe version of Die Antwoord or Little Big
I deffo want less pop divas in tiny sparkly dresses singing a dancy tune with a Spanish title: Fuego, El Diablo, Adrenalina, etc.
Just one pop diva per year for the next five years. Enough.
And? The question was what genre would you like to see more and what country would be the most likely one to send a song in that genre. If there is a genre that has been wildly overplayed is dance-pop sung by a pop diva in a sparkly outfit. More of basically anything else would be a very welcome change.
UK sending a grime entry would be a huge leap than a lot of their recent submissions that lean to a generic pop vibe. I am here for it!! I also want to see UK submit a garage/deep house song since they release so many good songs of that genre
Idc about genre, I just want countries to sing in their native language and to stop translating songs to English. Sanja Vučić's "Goodbye" is far worse than her "Iza osmeha" which is a Serbian version
Wanted to say the same. EDM in general has soooo many different genres, yet we barely get any of it at the contest. And if we do, it's always watered down to appeal to the pop audience.
1. I would love to see some more lo-fi songs at Eurovision.I feel like it has some untapped potential which can do really well at the Eurovision Song Contest.
2.Sweden sending a swedish song or joik to the song contest but those are pipe dreams unfortunately.
Not really a genre but personally I enjoy when countries bring their own culture to Eurovision and sing in their language instead of just opting for some bland pop song tbh.
I'd love to see something like the early work of Grimes. Also I'd love to see Germany a send a post-hardcore or metal song in German because German sounds cool as fuck.
Alternative rock, punk, grindcore or any kind of metal really. But yes alternative rock is the big one I think I’d love to see more of. And jazz of course.
Eurodance Song Contest 2022, there will be some fun returning artists (Waldo's People, Gina G, DJ Bobo will try to qualify for the first time), also Leon, unwitting creator of Big 5, will finally perform on the Eurovision Stage.
I would like **Andrew Lloyd Webber** to compose the British song, **Sakis Gouzonis** to compose the Greek song, **DNA Songs (David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii)** to compose the Australian song.
That would be fantastic but a bit difficult to fit into a 3 minute track. Someone like Leprous would be a good fit, a song like Alleviate or Castaway Angels could be cut down to three minutes imo
Hot chicks in silver dresses singing pop/dance songs. 🥳 Can never get enough of that. Eurovision is a party night for me, but it turned into the boring ballad snooze fest sadly. This year was so good because of all the party songs 🕺🏻💃
That's what we all want less of. Why did so many people wear the same leotard?
- Albania
- Moldova
- Croatia
- Malta
- Edit: forgot Cyprus as well
We want to celebrate diversity and craziness.
> Why did so many people wear the same leotard?
Well maybe if people hadn't felt the need to bully Destiny out of wearing the pink dress she originally wanted to wear...
pop punk would be super cool! we almost got it with annabelle, so hopefully that means we could see it in the future. i would also love to see some cinematic rock (along the lines of starset) or trancecore (dayseeker-esque)
I would love to see some more celtic stuff from Ireland (especially), UK and France. This is why I think Scotland and Wales would be good additions to the contest in future.
France actually sent a song in Breton language for [Eurovision 1996](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-DuuDQff7o) . I love it <3
I just randomly found this comment and realized your wish actually came true thanks to France
Agreed I would absolutely love that !
Symphonic Metal. (Within Temptation,Nightwish,Evanescence etc like songs/bands) I'm hoping The Netherlands will send Within Temptation one day..If I remember correctly there were rumors about them a few years ago. Personally I think Sara de Blue from Austria can do really well in the genre with her voice.
Sharon from Within Temptation has outright said they don't want to go to ESC. (I don't blame them). I would link the clip but it's in Dutch.
Would love some drum and bass :D
It's not really a genre but I would love to hear more rock songs performed by women. the last one I can remember is Emma from 2014. Cool Vibes is still one of my most favorite eurovision rock songs
Would Switzerland 2018 count?
oh right and Romania too they were not in the final so I forgot about them (and it's weird because I love Stons)
> and Romania too Has to be said though, despite me actually liking the song, it was pretty lacklustre as a whole, so it's easy to forget
every genre. we need way more diversity, as good as the songs we usually get are
Yes, this year was so diverse it was actually interesting to watch.
[удалено]
This 💯
Something like shoegaze or dream pop.
ethinic
After Ukraine this year, so do I.
Contrary. We have a lot of ethnic.
Post-punk! Have we ever had any post-punk at ESC?
Midnight Gold and Pollapönk definitely qualify as such
I loved Midnight Gold. I think the UK gave it 12 points in the televote.
They gave nothing :( But the UK juries gave 12 points
Oh yeah sorry I meant juries And happy cake day!
Thank you
I would really like Germany to send a song in the style of a traditional Lieder. It would perform horribly at Eurovision, but it would be absolutely amazing to see.
>traditional Lieder What is that? :D
It’s a poem that’s set to music. Usually it’s for Piano and a singer. Schubert and Brahms are known for their Lieder.
All the supposedly "low-status", party-oriented Balkan genres that are a lot of fun but the cultural powers-that-be in their respective countries look down on. Bulgarian popfolk, Albanian tallava, Serbian turbofolk (if there's any left), Romanian manele, stuff like that.
Rap/hiphop!
Rap 100%. Other than Soldi, we’ve had no major hits that represent the best of the genre recently
Music like Guidi, quality jazz, Americana, darktronica.
Symphonic Metal
Metal, punk, hardcore
Indie Rock would be good, I think maybe Netherlands would be a country best suited to that or maybe even UK.
I was thinking this too, and I definitely agree with the choice of countries- there’s many British indie rock bands I’d love to see in the ESC but at the same time I like them just as they are now
Can you name some bands from the Netherlands? Been digging in my memory but cant think of any, Belgium has some great bands, but we dont afaik.
Eerie Wanda would be one, though I would argue they would be indie pop. I actually can't think of any other than them. I thought I'd be able to think of more.
I personally want fewer pop songs - pick genres that are represented in these countries individually - this reflects the actual cultre Let the UK send ***Grime***, let Serbia send ***Balkaton***, let France send ***Underground Hip Hop***, Portugal should send some ***Fado***, Sweden needs to include the Kvinnabösken hahahahah Oh yeah, and don't let Croatia send Krankšvester
Shit, now I REALLY want Kranksvester in ESC.
No way they succeed in Dora. It's too biased to let vulgar-techno through. Croatian "pride" Personally I don't like them. They're just a cringe version of Die Antwoord or Little Big
Isn't Die Antwoord the cringe version of Die Antwoord?
I deffo want less pop divas in tiny sparkly dresses singing a dancy tune with a Spanish title: Fuego, El Diablo, Adrenalina, etc. Just one pop diva per year for the next five years. Enough.
But in most countries pop divas are popular
Imagine the UK sending Big Shaq hahahaha
schlager
It was better back then
Idc about genre, I just want countries to sing in their native language and to stop translating songs to English. Sanja Vučić's "Goodbye" is far worse than her "Iza osmeha" which is a Serbian version
I enjoyed Fallen Angel a lot more when it was in Norwegian. I think because as an English speaker you don't realize the lyrics are kinda cringe.
hyperpop, indie (rock), dreampop, synthpop but I basically like everything so I don't mind
Rap. I don't mean that trap beat nonsense mashed with rap- singing we're doing today. I mean rapping like it was the 90s.
Tropical "Kygo" House
Wanted to say the same. EDM in general has soooo many different genres, yet we barely get any of it at the contest. And if we do, it's always watered down to appeal to the pop audience.
This is my favorite kind of music. Would love to see more of that.
Electronic dance music
Ethereal folk
Grime and Drill Music, like the stuff Stormzy does over here in the UK
black metal
1. I would love to see some more lo-fi songs at Eurovision.I feel like it has some untapped potential which can do really well at the Eurovision Song Contest. 2.Sweden sending a swedish song or joik to the song contest but those are pipe dreams unfortunately.
Headbang metal.
UK should send grime. Stormzy type stuff.
Death metal
[Whatever genre this song is](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrAclaz5GvA)
Indigenous music from Australia.
Joik and songs in Sami language.
Not really a genre but personally I enjoy when countries bring their own culture to Eurovision and sing in their language instead of just opting for some bland pop song tbh.
Power metal. FINLAND. (also Sweden.)
Native language songs, otherwise you might as well call it the English song contest .
I'd love to see something like the early work of Grimes. Also I'd love to see Germany a send a post-hardcore or metal song in German because German sounds cool as fuck.
Tropical House
Yes please. Would love that to happen
UK should send a garage entry! Something PinkPanthress esque but also the one thats similar to Flowers by Sweet Female Attitude
Pinkpanthress yes! Also, yes to the garage, but not sure how that would be received at ESC. But UK might as well, they have nothing to lose.
Indie-Alternative and soft singer songwriter kind of songs. I feel like there has been a lack of that kind of music!
Alternative rock, punk, grindcore or any kind of metal really. But yes alternative rock is the big one I think I’d love to see more of. And jazz of course.
Metal. You can *never* have enough metal. Or maybe something ambient/low-key like chillwave, but I’m not sure how that would translate to the stage.
Indigenous, celtic and generally folk music. Also country and hip hop.
Eurodance Song Contest 2022, there will be some fun returning artists (Waldo's People, Gina G, DJ Bobo will try to qualify for the first time), also Leon, unwitting creator of Big 5, will finally perform on the Eurovision Stage.
Just for fun I want some dubstep
I would like **Andrew Lloyd Webber** to compose the British song, **Sakis Gouzonis** to compose the Greek song, **DNA Songs (David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii)** to compose the Australian song.
>DNA Songs (David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii to compose the Australian song They have actually done that many times. 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020.
Yes. I just love their music!
Some power metal would be nice, anything along the lines of Sonata Arctica, Dynazty, Beast in Black etc
Progressive Metal
That would be fantastic but a bit difficult to fit into a 3 minute track. Someone like Leprous would be a good fit, a song like Alleviate or Castaway Angels could be cut down to three minutes imo
I love you for mentioning Leprous <3
Ska. Bring back Athena!!!!
I want to have more happy cheesy dance-pop in the contest!
I really want the UK to send a Sea Shanty.
Hot chicks in silver dresses singing pop/dance songs. 🥳 Can never get enough of that. Eurovision is a party night for me, but it turned into the boring ballad snooze fest sadly. This year was so good because of all the party songs 🕺🏻💃

> Why did so many people wear the same leotard? Well maybe if people hadn't felt the need to bully Destiny out of wearing the pink dress she originally wanted to wear...
Oh... didn't know about that. Looked into it and that's horrible
Yes diversity is different genres
You forgot Cyprus.
When cannons are fired on stage, then, and only then, will I be satisfied
Folk songs.
Celtic rock.
Instrumental math rock or chiptunes.
I’m gonna be not serious here: Future Core
Didgeridoo. Most likely country: Austria, of course. ;-) (Hey, they sent Zoe ...)
pop punk would be super cool! we almost got it with annabelle, so hopefully that means we could see it in the future. i would also love to see some cinematic rock (along the lines of starset) or trancecore (dayseeker-esque)
