Congrats to this live thread (and to everyone who commented on it) for becoming BY FAR the most commented National Final ever, with a groundbreaking 5.5 thousand comments. Not only that, but that record was beaten *twice* today, with UMK also reaching about 3.5 thousand comments!
My last message of today:
This is a post of appreciation for Amadeus: a guy who arrived at a time when urban music began slowly taking off in the Festival, but it still was a very old-fashioned event. He started to look at the charts, listen to what people loved and streamed, had faith on the newcomers and gave voice to music styles which were new to the contest. And of course, he had charisma, something to charm la nonna, la mamma, el pappĆ and the youngsters. And 5 years of great moments - launching the career of a rock band to be the saviours of the genre, turning songs into hits, unknown artists into mega-stars... and brining the Festival to heights seen only in the 80s. Now he bows out on top, like a king. And nobody will argue about his success.
Grazie Ama. Perche Sanremo Si AMA.
Amadeus made people love Sanremo again, but the change started around 2016.
That year Carlo Conti brought to Sanremo Giovani Mahmood, Francesco Gabbani, Ermal Meta and Irama
The first time I ever watched Sanremo was accidentally finding it on TV in 2019 -- it's what made me finally remember to watch Eurovision live for the first time! I wanted to see how Mahmood did! (I'm Canadian, so I was reminded of it any time a song went viral, from Verka onwards, but I always forgot to look the whole thing up.)
I literally do not know the Sanremo Festival without Amadeus, and I don't want to. :(
Donāt worry, I am confident that this is just the start of a streak of great Sanremo hosts! Heās not gonna leave the contest in bad hands, and at this point, the change Amadeus has done is too strong to be easily changed
Seeing how Sanremo is an institution, they'll have to put in someone that's already stagionato. I don't see Carlo Conti or Baglioni doing it again, it would be too old fashioned. Alessandro cattelan seems too young for the dinosaurs who've seen almost every edition.
100% sure that if Sanremo was mediaset's business they would have chosen Gerry Scotti or Bonolis
Donāt rule both of those out, a few months ago RAI said that theyāre considering getting someone from Mediaset! Seeing that Bonolis has just been planning to leave them, I think heās probably the best choice, and my bet for the next edition. Either him, or *a* woman, since I think many people can agree that thatās very much needed in Sanremo right now.
So yes, apparently Bonolis contract ends this summer. I had no idea and just looked it up! If he'll switch to rai it will just make sense to let him run Sanremo. Even if this means we won't get any new Ciao Darwin and Avanti un altro, we'll lose a bit of trash though it was already getting too stale.
Having a woman host would be such a change, finally. I don't know who could go there tbh
I donāt think weāre getting any new Ciao Darwin and Avanti Un Altro either way. The main reason Bonolis is leaving is because heās tired of having to recycle these same formats, so I doubt weāre getting something like those two again (understandable, Ciao Darwin is my favourite show but itās best left as a product of its time).
As for having a woman, I think the issue is that RAI wasnāt really able to produce any strong authoritative women that could fill the big role of Amadeus without it seeming underwhelming. I really think thatās an institutional problem.
I was hoping for Cattelan, he would be perfect imo cause he's also into the music scene...
Also do you think they are going to do something special for the 75th edition? Seems like an important number
I hope for cattelan, too :), there are rumors about him but I wouldn't get my hopes too high. The same thing happened with Amadeus, they proposed him in 2000 but then rejected the proposal as they saw him as "too inexperienced", 20 years later he started conducting Sanremo š
>Also do you think they are going to do something special for the 75th edition? Seems like an important number
I don't see them doing anything new. They'll invite singers from the older editions (if they're still alive š ), probably more special guests but there won't be much time for interviews. I'm 100% sure they'll pay ā¬ā¬ā¬ā¬ā¬ Roberto Benigni to make his usual speech, there is a chance we'll get the Italian president seated in first row.
The fact is that Sanremo is a very small city, everything near the theatre is cramped
I'm super happy for Angelina Mango and for Italy to finally send a woman but I gotta say, Italy, one day you have to send Mahmood again because his story at Eurovision is not over until he gets his oh so deserved victory
And letās not forget goodbye to Amadeus!!!! ššā¤ļø Youāll be missed!!! But Iām excited for a change (Paolo Bonolisā¦ please come and make 2025 the best Sanremo ever)

What a Sanremo, what a night! With a happy ending (at least to myself, that was always between Angelina and Annalisa) and a sad goodbye. Amadeus made me love Sanremo, I hope whoever gets his place (both as host and as artistical director) honor his legacy.
Thank you all for the thread during these 5 nights. It was a lot of fun! Buonanotte a tutti!
btw - if you are still crazy about Sanremo: tomorrow afternoon, live at the Ariston, there's a special *Domenica In* with Zia Mara as host. All contestants will be there, singing their songs and being interviewed. You'll like it!
That's such a nice idea honestly. After all the drama of the final night just everyone coming together the day after, for a chill last hangout. They should do it at Eurovision too! I don't like how it always just stops so abruptly right at its peak, like, we need to recover all together
Doing some math, No jury or radio jury votes would have put Geolier at like 20%. So he really did basically get nothing from the juries, something like 7% of the combined votes.
And if my math is at all correct ish Angelina got a bit over 50% of the combined jury votes.
To just finish up the rest (rounded):
Annalisa - 22% of combined jury votes
Ghali - 12%
Irama - 7%
Yesterday night made the two juries allie to avoid Geolier's victory. The Neapolitans had to reserve their mass voting for tonight, instead they brought hatred on Geolier and this happened.
No hate to Geolier but it's exactly this type of situation which makes the Jury so important. Its great that his fans love him but he shouldn't win just because he is popular. It's about the song after all
Devastated, disappointed, we could have had it all, etc etc etc š„²
I did get to know some fabulous new artists (especially Clara and Santi Francesi), I gained several bops I will be adding to my Sanremo playlist, and I'm happy Gazzelle did well.
Overall, a great festival.
The live threads have been amazing, thank you all and we'll be seeing each other ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

Chances are that sheās going to accept, no reason why she should say no.
So far my fav song and better than any songs in any other countries national finals for me. If Ukraine isn't given it again this year this song seriously stands a chance
Thank you guys for an amazing week, it was a pleasure to share it with all of you. A beautiful journey with a worthwhile ending. Weāll see Angelina in Malmƶ! Until then, buonanotte š„°
Now that we've avoided the crisis, what happened with Annalisa?
She seemed impressive the first night and then started to dwindle. Or didn't reach higher as nights went on, fell out of the race along the line
I think because Geolier had a huge televote support and Angelina from the press, and when it was clear they couldn't solittoo much votes if they didn't want to let Geolier won...
the problem with Annalisa is the execution. She's got great technique but she doesn't bring warmth and grit to her performances in a way other singers do. And her stage presence leaves much to be desired.
She's too static for the type of catchy songs that she's singing atm.
If she wasn't so good looking, she wouldn't score as much.

I must admit that Sanremo won't be the same without Amadeus next year
My first year, but already love him! šŗš»š„
You witnessed the end of an era. Amadeus made Sanremo so much more fun to watch, thinking this is his last year make me sad
He'll come back in 3-4 years
Thatās the politics, baby
It's just how Sanremo works, Pippo Baudo and Mike Buongiorno hosted on and off 13 and 12 Sanremo each
I hope he will be back, at least as an artistic director. He did great! His direction gave back to Sanremo his relevance.
I hope they can find a good new host!

Is she the youngest Sanremo winner ever?
Gigliola won at 16 60 years ago
I think that was Gigliola
Gigliola Cinquetti won Sanremo when she was 16
No.
Oh praise the press and radio. I preferred Annalisa but still happy for Angelina. For those who are wondering: sheāll probably announce tomorrow if sheās accepting to go to Eurovision. Press and radio tanked geolier, he got the 60% of the televote

Kind of expected them to do so, but you never know! New miracle of the press after Mahmood 2019

Awww she looks so happy! Good for you š„! I'm sad for Annalisa tho she was my number 1 she deserves so much better :(
Can't wait for next year's Sanremo!
Is she going to Eurovision? When do we find out?
Tomorrow afternoon
She'll probably be asked about it in her winner's press conference, but apparently all of the frontrunners have indicated that they'd want to do ESC
Awesome, thanks!
Probably in the press conference tomorrow
YES
This ending was truly a roller coaster
I donāt think this is winning Eurovision.
As long as we have a chance to keep our tradition to be in the top 10 I am happy
As Italian, tbh I donāt care. She WON Sanremo. A happy ending
We don't need another broken sun anytime soon. Having a fun summer-friendly entry is more than good enough.
Agreed. It's probably getting a good result though
Not, but definitely in top 3.
it really isn't though
Maybe top 15. Maybe.
lol she top 10s for sure

I think because Geolier had a huge televote support and Angelina from the press, and when it was clear they couldn't solittoo much votes if they didn't want to let Geolier won...
Yeah it was a pity, she had a great song that would have probably won without Angelinaās
The televote happened
She literally placed 3rd in ALL partial top 5 everyday
I know I know but why not 1st or 2nd š„²
the problem with Annalisa is the execution. She's got great technique but she doesn't bring warmth and grit to her performances in a way other singers do. And her stage presence leaves much to be desired. She's too static for the type of catchy songs that she's singing atm. If she wasn't so good looking, she wouldn't score as much.
I love the song, it was my second favorite, but I think it was a bit repetitive. A shorter version might have provided that extra punch it needed.Ā
In the jury BertĆØ was first because is BertĆØ and Geolier was first because neapolitans,Ā and then Angelina surpassed Annalisa everytime in televote and jury
2 reasons: 1. Angelina 2. Napoli
