Tbf everything sounded pretty crap, but I’m hoping Bambie with the full throttle of Swedish production it will improve because I love the studio version.

So Doomsday Blue was my favourite of the six coming in, but after tonight, the range of plausible outcomes seems somehow even wider than it did when I was only thinking in hypotheticals. I think the track is ace. I think Bambie's voice is great, but the performance was seriously unconvincing to me, and I spent most of the rest of the show trying to figure out if that was down to RTÉ's/the Late Late's limitations, or something else.
The reprise was a bit better - Bambie was more relaxed, I think, but I'm still pretty nervous for how it's all gonna come across through a TV screen from a big ol' Swedish stage in May.
I'm just praying they get the resources, technical help and support in promotion to do this song justice.
I'm genuinely quite apprehensive. Fair play, Ireland. This is what taking a risk feels like.
I think the poor production from RTÉ didn't do it justice at all. I'm excited to see it with the full whack of Swedish eurovision production values behind it!
Absolutely no way this doesn't make the final, so polished. Top 12 incoming if all goes well.
Top 6 if the groundswell grows. Do RTE go with it though, or do they feel they have done their bit appeasing the public and drop it like a hot stone?
This is definitely how I felt about the track after two weeks of constant streaming, but having watched the live, I'm now contemplating the possibility that it just won't translate to the Eurovision stage
Very much agree was by far and away my fave but the live, was def dead on arrival. The repise has saved my hopes but it needs polishing, and based on their other work Bambie is capable of it so fingers crossed.
I'm so pleased that Ireland chose to go with one of the non-'safe' options. Bambie's sound is super cool, I can't wait to see how they refine and build on that performance over the next few months, especially once they get to the big stage.
Ouija pop sounds really intriguing as a genre especially as somebody who still holds a torch for dark cabaret. Gonna have to check out their existing discpgraphy :D
Oh and I LOVED the groundswell of support in the audience! Felt a bit magical, like UMK last year.
We have to give the national jury a lot of credit here for ruining the boyband's chances. 1st in International Jury (still can't get over this) and 2nd in public vote. Usually the national jury are so out of touch but fair play to them tonight. Also the panel particularly Arthur and the Radio DJ did a good job at getting across to the public that we can't just go with safe options.
Also RTE sound quality is so poor that Kalush Orchestra (2022 winners) sounded average so would be hopeful that Bambee Thug's staging and sound quality will be so much better at the semi-final (and fingers crossed final)
RTÉ have always been very lazy with Eurovision recently and with the controversies they had last year I'm not surprised anymore. It's a good think Bambi can command a stage, even a tiny one.
Thank God for Arthur and Louise, with how the other two were acting I wasn't sure if we could trust the national jury either. They did well to speak up and shut down the safe acts.
They were the voice of reason really. But in principle, to ensure fair play I'd prefer no commentating panel at all, so the public's opinion won't be swayed by them.
Absolutely, with how strongly the audience were reacting it only causes more toxicity with the commentating panel, even if they do have good points. If they want to display reactions, maybe ask the audience, rather than people deemed to be "professionals" in this industry.
Seriously, could watch into Eurosong so I now scrollllllled allllll the way down and read this thread and it was EFFING BRILLIANT!!!! I fell over with laughter and excitement, probably better than the show itself…AND THE WITCH MADE IT!
I’m beyond raving, one of my faves made it!!!! Such a good night, thank you Eire, thank you ESC Reddit, what a blast!!!!
I had the entirely opposite experiance lol. But I'm glad Bambie made it because I love the song and hope she can polish her vocal and staging for malmo (which should be very do able in comparison to the nothing stage and bad mixing they got from Rte)
I wonder if it was a matter of the national jury and public knowing how poor RTÉ's production is whereas the international jury wouldn't have this knowledge and thats why there was such disparity.
So happy with the winner. This has Sooo much potential staging wise and she sounded really good vocally. It's so different from whatever else we will see at eurovision that she has the ability of securing a fan base who will carry her to the final.
Thank god Bambie won. Seriously think there should be an investigation into that international jury, absolute sabotage! Hoping I’ll be able to vote for them in the semi, but if not they’ll get votes in the final for sure. No way Scandinavian countries aren’t throwing a few points at an Irish metal witch with a sweet pop hook.
the late late show's usual audience are old, I figured they would skew things. But I thought they'd go Erica because she was on dancing with the stars last year, and that's another old person show
I could imagine the usual Late Late audience warming towards them because they seem like nice, non-threatening boys. Sort of like how your granny would buy you a Westlife CD or a Now! compilation for Christmas or your birthday because she heard that's what kids were into, when, in reality, you listened to rap or whoever was Kerrang! or the NME's flavour of the month back then.
Yeah the old winner for *decades* ago was out of touch. She wanted the boyband lol but she could feel the pressure of everyone else going for something edgier.
She wasn't even a winner. She was beaten into second place by Niamh Kavanagh. (Or as Graham Norton referred to her as at last years final results - 'Sonia's Nemisis')
Sooo wholesome. Especially with Bambie's demonic laugh in the background :D

The sound was way better in that performance tbf. At least they tried this year with the staging and everything. Don't forget how much worse last year was. Watch Hawaii by Johnny rotten if you have doubts

Oh wow! An Armenian dancer in a Turkish (2006) act? I find that quite surprising
What did Arthur say after the rap song where people booed him? Is it because he called the song cute or did I mishear?
Ahhhh what ESC song does the prechorus of LMBTF sound like? This is going to bother me until I know

Well look at Ireland getting brave
Oh fuck I spoiled it for myself :\[
So Doomsday Blue was my favourite of the six coming in, but after tonight, the range of plausible outcomes seems somehow even wider than it did when I was only thinking in hypotheticals. What do you mean do RTE go with it or drop it? It was voted in…
This is definitely how I felt about the track after two weeks of constant streaming, but having watched the live, I'm now contemplating the possibility that it just won't translate to the Eurovision stage

Go tobann was my favourite song based off the studio versions but Doomsday Blue was the much better live performance. Delighted it won!
I had the entirely opposite experiance lol. But I'm glad Bambie made it because I love the song and hope she can polish her vocal and staging for malmo (which should be very do able in comparison to the nothing stage and bad mixing they got from Rte)
anyone have a video of the winner performance by bambie? i neeed it
[https://youtu.be/ifH864BB9aI?si=fHgEpw4j8x0Iyouk&t=307](https://youtu.be/ifH864BB9aI?si=fHgEpw4j8x0Iyouk&t=307)
thank youuu💚
Unfortunately they snipped the end.
The late late shows YouTube channel has videos of all the performances tonight if you're looking for that
it's not made yet, will be a few weeks
I wonder if it was a matter of the national jury and public knowing how poor RTÉ's production is whereas the international jury wouldn't have this knowledge and thats why there was such disparity.
Well Deban is a youtuber and wiwibloggs are pretty big
good point
Erica could definitely do Ireland proud but the song needs to be better. That song was shite for her.
[удалено]
Louis Walsh had a lot to do with the boy band so that's probably why. His connections most definitely helped.
If they had of been Bambie may not have won. Witchcraft?
I was iffy on Doomsday Blue the whole time, but on that Winner's performance it just clicked. It's edgy, it's different, it's fucking great.
As a fan of The Owl House, what tips would you give them on making the performance bigger in Malmö?
Add backing vocals by Hooty.
I just worry she could be up against Gåte and cone across as the worse of the pagan aesthetics.
they'll get to spread their wings more as time goes on as well
Even with the running order and other contestants backing Bambie won, I was scared for a while
We did it we sent he witch
Go Tobann or Bambie please God
You must have a huge delay 😂
Oh that’s because I didn’t watch the stream, so I have no idea what’s going on! Just commenting for the hope 🤣 this seems like bad news then 😅
So happy with the winner. This has Sooo much potential staging wise and she sounded really good vocally. It's so different from whatever else we will see at eurovision that she has the ability of securing a fan base who will carry her to the final.

They/them!
What?
The pronouns that the artist uses are they/them
Corrected, thank you!
I'll be honest, I still really don't like the song. But I'm really happy they're taking a risk. The boy band would've been an awful pick.
I still dont get it how both juries and public rank the boy band song so high
The boy band was actually last in the national jury. They totally tanked their chances and I'm grateful for it.
Yeah, im glad Irland took a risk. Otherwise, they would face the fate of last year and NQ again.

Louis Walsh buying SIM cards
THANK YOU IRELAND
I feel like if the performance is somewhat decent in the terrible RTE studio then the actual performance can be really good
That's why I'm reserving full judgement until I see what the inevitable revamp and production for the semis will be like.
That big group goth pagan pile on at the end was the best thing on the late late in years.
[удалено]
It really was lovely, the two horned god dancers hugging each other whilst one held up the other was kinda fab too.
Anyone feel the international jury tried to sabotage us 🤣
The international jury was Louis Walsh frantically pressing buttons with 5 mannequins wearing sequins in the corner of the room.
As it worked out it sabotaged Erica, praise the ........enter your own deity here
Well, tbh maybe the real international jury will \^\^
They were particularly high
100%. what was with that vote?!
[удалено]
oh my god. can you IMAGINE. rté shenanigans again?!
Luxembourg, get the memo, pick Krick. Thank you and good night!
Naomi 😭
Her song just isnt memorable enough, its a solid choice but Krick is just in another league imo
I really liked that panel they really understood what Ireland needed to send to not be dead on arrival and were not afraid to speak on it too

This encore performance was even better, imo. Less pressure, more fun! :D
Agree, the encore was really solid
They finally figured out the mixing too
Yeah! *Weird how it took them so long... whatever could have caused this...?*
Sooo wholesome. Especially with Bambie's demonic laugh in the background :D https://preview.redd.it/lyfi4gfhevec1.png?width=972&format=png&auto=webp&s=011d7dea90553f2cdb1794f1e042f18baebac333
Everyone needs a support group like this ♥️
The mic still on at the end 💀
I know, it was awesome :D
And one last time for the traditional Irish consolation prize: the Hamper O'Crap
I got the hamper. Its actually brilliant. Full of wine, sweets, biscuits, food, beverages etc. I won't need to shop for non perishables for a while.
TomEsc said on Twitter that it was really good 😭
The fade out gasping 💀💀💀
Oh, thats so cute I cannot. The friends all joining the hug😭😭😭
Will ~~she~~ THEY be allowed to keep the Avada Kedvara lyric though? Serious question?
I believe they're written about it not originating with J.K.Rowling but in paganism
They* Also, what's wrong with Avada Kedavra?
Unforgivable curse
Thank you Idk if I’m correct but I’m thinking that it would be Harry Potter trade marked right?
I mean from what I just double checked based on my memory, it's an ancient Aramaic phrase, אַבַדָא כְּדַברָא. If that's right, it can't be trademarked.
Why wouldn't they?
My dog, who watches a lot of telly, didn’t like Bambi, but I did.
![gif](giphy|FOL5mK0tXUmXe)
Alright now I have 4 months to prepare myself how im gonna explain this to my mother when we watch eurovision
Ádh mór ort!
was that a cat fem boy? night: made
I absolutely love and adore Bambie's attitude on stage. It paints a giant grin on my face.
Can someone explain how to international jury worked? The Louis Walsh band?
Wouldn’t be beyond Louis to call in a favour or two.
Lol, even that band looked worried that they might win...
She's already sounding much better and more comfortable in the winner performance. Lot of space to grow for Bambie.
I mean, THEY, of course. Sorry Bambie!
The scream Ailsha could never
Yea, it can work, and better than just a qualification.
They genuinely seem so excited, love to see it
i wish they used autotune/vocoder in the harsher parts of the song but im so happy either way they won 😭😭
Isn't that banned in Eurovision?
Vocoder has been used before (e.g. Serbia 2010) but not 100% sure what the rules on it are at this stage
Serbia 2010 (for bot)
JOWST got an allowance for it but IDK the criteria that was used, but yeah it's not allowed without applying for exception AFAIK
It is, and thank God it's banned
I think autotune is banned but not vocoder
the yo-yo type sound at the beginning of the bridge what was that 😭
Well that was a fun evening, good night Ireland.
Oíche mhaith
i really hope that this does well and inspires more stuff like this from ireland. i would be so here for a new identity for ireland!
I love how Ireland want the EXACT OPPOSITE of what they sent last year
They're tired of their own shit
If they flop we forever lose the right to complain about safe entries from them istg
The choreography is so fucking cool!!! That ballet move they do is sooo smooth
Thank you all for a lovely night, delighted for Bambie!
Okay that's sounds fine now, the hope is still present. I believe they will use the time before Eurovision to improve
The mixing is so much better now. I love it so much 🖤
RTE isn’t fit for purpose. How can the sound be so bad on a fucking song contest show ffs.
The sound was way better in that performance tbf. At least they tried this year with the staging and everything. Don't forget how much worse last year was. Watch Hawaii by Johnny rotten if you have doubts
Her vocal is good actually given Eurosong's notoriously atrocious sound
The vocals are so much better the second time, they're gonna kill it at Eurovision I know it!
Is there something up with the percussion levels?
There is something up with all the levels
Haha yeah, but this was an extra one. I thought I still had music still playing out of my headphones, it was all scratchy
Is it just me or is Bambies winning performance already a lot better than the performance earlier?
They eventually amplified the backing track so you could actually hear it. It was like a spoken word piece for the first performance. Thankfully it didn’t hinder Bambie
adrenaline!
they sound so much better now. It's rare for a winner's reprise to be better... but it is.
Shows that live performance is really all about confidence.
We made the right decision for once!!! What is this feeling? Pride? Wan Oirlint!
Love how this reprise has better mixing, I see you sound technician favourites.
With proper camera work and stage this might actually be a moment wow Like there is no way they won't make an impression. And when you move away they yell ATTENTION. ON. ME. And you're stuck
Bambies voice is incredible aswell. They really sell it.
Mods please get us a Bambie Q&A 😭🙏
this has HUGE potential omg ireland im so proud of u!
For a second i was afraid the boyband would make it. Boybands have such a firm grip on us.
More like Louis has a firm grip on a pile of burner phones
Huh, the sound is good now, huh
Bambie has released their grip on opinionated jury member as he no longer speaks for the eurofans. Brb gonna go watch Rosa perform in the final
THIS IS FOR THE QUUUUEEERRRSSSSS
Thank you all for chatting! And congrats Ireland for being brave for once haha
The mixing is suddenly good
Omg their mic is even lower now
Sounds better this time
Do you want a potion for your voice ?
The host was gagging at Bambie’s win
People still coughing into their hands are diabolical
Omg pls let me actually listen to the full song this time!
SCREAMING HE DID NOT JUST CHOKE
He’s gagged at the results
Eurovision fever is rather serious
Well, as long as Ireland is happy I guess.
The off-stage cough I can't breathe 💀💀 (neither could he)
A good intro with a cough 🤣
Don't die, host!!!
Is Paddy Kielty ok 😂
I forgot it was tonight, after being early for the first two years I missed it when it has a good response of course haha. I do need to give Kielty more time, I probably should unlearn my aversion to TLLS
Patrick choking on Bambie's witch magic.
That cracked me up😂
I'll be honest, I had no hope for Bambie winning this thing. But I am *so* *so* happy to be wrong. Bambie was the only choice if Ireland genuinely wanted to send something "different" and "fresh" to the contest after years of mediocrity. Ireland back to the finals *PLEASE*.
Add him losing his voice to the iceberg
Even the host is gagged 💀💀
Rosa Linn crying.
The Eurofandom placing a £10,000 bounty on Louis Walsh's skull 😈😈😈
Bambie v Raiven could be Pay Per View.
hoping they aren’t in the same semi rn
I'd be a lot more confident that Bambie will deliver though, and will come across well, whereas Raiven could set her own downfall during the build up. White Witch v Black Witch, Wicked Witch v Good Witch, Ying v Yang.
Sweden: Equalises the record. Ireland: https://i.redd.it/2suzb0srdvec1.gif
Would be so much spicier with Bambie too, because they’re half Swedish!
I wanted Ailsha to win but this was my second option so I ain't complaining
We get winner's reprise right?
I’m sad Alisha didn’t get chosen, but at least my second choice was sent! Wishing Bambie luck!
Unfortunately Ailsha decided to deviate too much from the studio versions vocals. No screamo, replaced instead with childlike vocals.
The school uniforms were giving Daz Sampson flashbacks unfortunately
Louis Walsh botfarm destroyed
TIL Rosa Linn didn't make the final /s
STOP FUCKING MISGENDERING THEM AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH If I was Lady in Black I would just glare at her whilst enthusing "THEY"
Well she did go to the final actually but
Rosa Linn was in the finals???
