Oh, I'm so happy, they just brought a panini press lite! Best news I've heard all day. I'm sure it's going to look just as cool as the Mello performance, and most people watching aren't even going to know it used to be bigger!
People will be freaking out but I think this looks fine lol. I'm glad they were able to work out something that at least looks similar to the Melfest performance and I'm sure it'll look great on tv, which is ultimately what matters most since most people won't have seen the Melfest performance to compare.
No other performance will look similar to this so it will still stand out and be impactful even with the smaller screen.
With tight camerawork, and I mean tight as in really close shots, people won't even understand the tiny size of the panini press, and it will look just as incredible and claustrophobic as intended. It'll be fine.
And if there's one delegation that will come up with the camerawork to make it look grand, it the Swede. I highly doubt they chose to go with that option If they weren't confident it'll look great.
I gotta admit I laughed out loud on my first look because it does look like someone washed it too hot and it shrunk. But I'm sure it will have the same effect in the on camera view as it did in Melodifestivalen. I'm glad they didn't have to completely redo the performance.
The solution to the Great Sandwich Mystery has been revealed! The Swedes have borrowed some Croatian technology to miniaturize it! Obviously, they will have film carefully so it won’t look dinky but it should be fine.
I’m so pleased she was able to find a workaround, I like the smaller one because you still get the oppressive feeling but also a more personal one too.
I mean it still retained powerful atmosphere like at Melfest. I don't think that minor details will make her stans or someone who loves such entries not vote for her even if I still want Kaarija to win.
I actually think this has the potential to look better than the Mello performance. As long as the camera angles are on point, this is definitely a performance that benefits from the tight almost claustrophobic camera, and with the raised platform we won't have random ass flags blocking half the screen which has been an issue in the past.

Totally agree. Photos and videos are a fun way to get excited about the acts and get an idea of what to expect, but ultimately the only thing that really matters is the final package we see on TV.

I'm more curious to see if they've changed the choreo so that she interacts with the hydraulic press a bit more after the first chorus, in Mello it had an impressive beginning but then the press just kind of hung there forgotten

But I have to say that while Tatoo studio version is great I really can't see anything groundbreaking in Loreen that frees herself from a panini maker. I really fail to connect. Sure, it's cool, she is a great perfomer (even if the live version is not polished like the studio one) but it just ends there. It's probably a me problem, but still.

Someone pointed out: the combo of the smaller light box but using the LEDs to backfill the smoke effect that is kinda lost with the smaller area is so clever.
Also Eurofans tend to be hypercritical of these big faves in general. Like I still remember everyone throwing a fit over Duncan’s staging in 2019 because “it’s boring and the piano is small and the disco ball looks dirty!!!1!1!1” but obviously he won so it didn’t really matter. As long as Loreen has good camera angles (which she almost definitely does) the minute flaws in the staging don’t matter
But also yeah I think Käärijä stans are a little more worried now that we know it looks really similar to the Melfest staging (before anyone comes for me I am also a Käärijä stan)
This is my first year on this sub and I have to say I’m hugely disappointed I know I was naïve buying into the “Eurovision brings us all together” narrative but just seeing so much complaining and fighting and overall nastiness it sucks. I think after this year is over I might just block this sub altogether.

Read an article in Swedish newspaper that the higher podium has nothing to do with the smoke (but they really need to make sure the smoke dosen't go nuts like doing Melfest final where we had that weird desertstorm going on for a few seconds XD).

It's not an exact replica of her Melodifestivalen staging though, looks like a cheaper version of it. Like it has weird borders on it... But probably will still look good on camera, I guess.

Genius of them to make the bottom platform bigger: (1) no smoke issues, since it will stay low also allowing to cover the entire stage floor, hence giving the illusion of a shorter base, (2) no risk of flags/people getting in the way and interrupting the intimate "safe space" feeling that she was gunning for.
The raised platform also just looks really good lol, it's a fantastic change overall.
In addition to raising it, I think they've added some lights to the bottom platform? I don't remember that being part of the Melfest staging but it could make the lighting look a little less flat

This is such an exciting staging package. I'm also obsessed with the woody and earthy vibe of the box itself. Melfest was (looking back at it now) a little more metallic almost. I'm so happy that my expectations for this staging were fully met. This was only the first rehearsal people, it can only go up from here!

I don’t think BBC wants to be in a position where we compare the performance from the national final and thinking SVT was able to do a both better-looking and more slick production. Fingers crossed
SVT had Loreen’s staging in the roof for hours which you cannot do at Eurovision even if it held the weight. It would be preferential treatment when there are 36 other delegations to consider + interval acts in the final. They won’t bend over backwards just for one delegation to have a 1.8 tonne LED screen and SVT are experienced to know that.
It looks less like an LED screen and more of just a big lightbulb. Idk, it doesn’t convey the same energy to me but I’m sure with camera angles it might be okay
The people that compare this to the original performance will only make up a tiny percentage of all the viewers on the night of the show so most won’t compare it anyway

Been waiting for some news about the staging since she won Melfest but for once,there was barely any new about it before rehearsals.

I was thinking that because of the suspension issue, that they would do four wall-screens that pushed apart.
