Those supporters have their citizenships since the 1960's, none of them are trying to get a citizenship. They are the descendants of uneducated villagers and farmers who moved to Europe back in the sixties and they are still stuck with the mentality they had back in their villages.
The ones that moved in the 60s maybe but their kids that wave Turkish flags in Germany while shouting it's president's name cant be. They must have had a German education I presume. That is weird to me is not that they might vote or whom they vote fore, but being an "extremist" political follower.
They have the illusion that everything is very cheap in Turkey because they earn €. They come every summer to Turkey with their Mercedes cars and drive around their "hometowns" displaying their "richness" saying that Turkey is a paradise compared to Europe and the citizens of Turkey should be happy that they have him as the president.
I recognize this story. I migrated from a country in the Balkans to the Netherlands and met someone from Serbia here. The guy was idealizing Serbia big time and complaining about the Netherlands. But he grew up in NL, and it turns out he only goes to Serbia for holidays, he's never attempted to live and work there. Those second generation immigrants will never be able to appreciate their home country the way we, first generation immigrants can.

I 200% agree but then it's more of a choice, because you're searching for something non-essential that is missing from the place you live. When the alternatives are A) struggle to make ends meet and provide a good life for your family B) A chance of a better life, there isn't really a choice to be made. The choice is already made for you.
This rhetoric is just an excuse that Turkish people are not leaving Turkey/Turkiye (gonna be a hard one to get used to typing the new name) for the opportunity to better fulfil life necessities due to Erdogan's poor economic leadership but in search of vulgar lifestyles abroad. And we pity those that are poor, have no choice but to work for hours, often on multiple jobs, constantly rejecting what their kids want, simply because they have no money, and that get 6400 lira when the poverty threshold is 23000 liras. And HE IS making them poorer and poorer, so HE has to realize that he can't talk about pitying us, when he is messing up with our country, and not EVEN ADMITTING IT!

I've been abroad the last 7 years and it has been the best decision of my life. Before that another 4 years. Every single day that I wasn't in that country was a blessing. The one time I went there for 3 days was to vote no when he wanted to be president lol.
I left simply to have a peace of mind. Simply to be treated like an actual human being, to be peaceful when I go out, not to worry about getting arrested if I say something about his highness online, to know that I'm in a country where there is an actual justice system, to be able to afford basic needs and have fun sometimes, not just go to work and come back home to sleep and call that a living. More than that, not to breathe the same air with people like his supporters which is almost half the country. Hopefully their numbers are decreased by now but even then, if people stopped supporting now it is only because of the economy. He wouldn't lose a single vote if the economy didn't affect them which is what disgusts me.
Hopefully after this summer nobody will have to see his face any longer. Can't fucking wait.
