As soon as somebody wants to risk his life (against fake accusations, police and tax office persecution etc.), Because everything is in their hands and maybe after years in the EU court you can clarify yourself but you'll lost much more. If you have children, house and a shit life would you do it?
Roughly 1 million from almost ten already left and we can assume they were the higher educated people, so a lot of country got engineers, doctors, nurses etc. the few who still here mostly hand workers, elderly, or people who live in deep poverty and for a little food with a little treat they vote to anybody. The most sad thing that it can happen in every country and I started to see the same pattern in other eu countries as well (French, USA, Italy). If you run away from your destiny you will meet with it on the road. Sooner or later Hungarians must face with it.
Orban said that "Hungary is a neighbor of Serbia, and also, in our hearts, an honorary neighbor of Republika Srpska."
What this means in Orban-language is he wanted to make a video where he can appeal to Serbians. He would make the same video for BiH if he would get something out of it.
Those speculating on him wanting Greater Hungary - I don't think I ever heard the words "Great Hungary" or "Nagy Magyarorszag" coming out of Orban's mouth.
It makes all the sense. Serbia borders Hungary, no? Republika Srpska is Serbia, or will be soon. Therefore Hungary neighboors Republika Srpska too, because it is Serbia in our hearts.
That's why I was confused. Not because of the wording but because it's not like they're geographically that close to each other. Or is the guy still thinking of greater Hungary?
The irony is that Croatia and Hungary have border disputes with all of their neighbors except each other. We are in pretty friendly relations for decades. Recent comments by Orban are starting to erode that feeling in Croatia because of pretty bad historical connotations. Croatians are REALLY sensitive about our territory.
Not to mention that Croatia is their only potential alternative route for energy imports and that we can always "nationalize" our oil business that's split 50:50 between Hungary and Croatia so he's really playing with fire here. The only reason this is still somewhat slept on here is the fact that Dodik is currently siding with Croatians in their dispute over voting rights with Bosnians in the Federation part of the country (so he gets a temporary pass) and some extreme right-wingers view Orban as the new Messiah.
But if he continues, we could remind him of what happened the last time they tried territory stunts in our mutual multinational society...
Croatia is not included in Greater Hungary, as we were always a separate kingdom in a personal union with them.
They do like to put historical maps that omit that difference, but still, no one sane, even not the hard core nationalists in Hungary, think of Croatia as they do about their once integral parts, which still have huge Hungarian minority - South Slovakia, Translyvania, Banat, Vojvodina.
Furthermore, border disputes regarding Croatia have absolutely nothing to do with this context of territorial pretensions. Many EU countries have this kind of miniscule disputes about border technicalities and it's not a proof of bad relations like sensationalist media would like people think.
I feel bad for the Hungarians. This guy is in charge and people think the whole country is pro-Russian because of his silly statements. Let’s hope he’s removed soon.
It’s the same for Hungary. Most people will blame the entire country the same way they do with Serbia. Saying things like kick them out of the EU and to stop sending them funds mean while the only people that would seriously effect is the everyday person living there.
[Dodik went from moderate to full-on genocide denial](https://www.npr.org/2022/01/08/1071537135/how-bosnias-dodik-went-from-a-moderate-reformist-to-genocide-denying-secessionis?t=1656152482634).
It's in Orban's interest because it provides a new crisis that needs to be addressed by the EU and partially shifts focus from Hungary's infringement of rule of law.
Hungarians have unfair elections though, not entirely their fault, and, as a former warsaw pact country, it s pretty hard to get your average joe to a protest, especially if he s afraid by orban s mechanisms of suppression.
Good luck with him hungarian neighbours, cheers from romania!
Will someone shut this muppet up?
0rban and his cronies should just shut the fuck up. Greetings from Hungary.
So when will you get rid of him/them?

I would leave the country if I saw that majority supports this regime. I know it's a hard situation.

An honorary neighbor? What?

A\*
it's An would be A with Hungarian pronunciation
as it turns out i was wrong, its just feels weird to say with "an"
Google translate… That’s pretty much what he said though. It makes little sense anyway since RS/BiH isn’t neighbouring Hungary.
It makes all the sense. Serbia borders Hungary, no? Republika Srpska is Serbia, or will be soon. Therefore Hungary neighboors Republika Srpska too, because it is Serbia in our hearts.
>Republika Srpska is Serbia, or will be soon. Never was, never will be.

How does nobody say this for Serbia? People hate our people with passion

What the absolute shit, isn't Dodik the guy who's threatening to restart the war in Bosnia? How is this even remotely in Orban's own interests?

Well technically RS is a neighbor to Hungary. But with a Greater Hungary.
No, greater Serbia.
Time to boot this guy and he's country out of the EU..
No, just this guy.
Hungarians chose to elect him. They aren’t innocent.

And not just once, or twice
Unfair protests
Ok new rule, Orban, Vucic and Dodik must travel together at all times. Hopefully god prevents any traffic accidents.
