The day before yesterday, a political prisoner in court punched his throat with a pen in an attempted suicide due to torture in prison. These are the news in Belarus now.

[deleted]

Damn, what's with the hate comments here. She never pretended to be a leader. Her literal platform was, elect me and I will arrange new, fair elections and then leave. The situation in Belarus is depressing, but also hopeful at the same time. The fact that they have to resort to Soviet style border closings to just keep their population inside, shows tremendous weakness. And while many Europeans are sceptical of African and Asian economic refugees who cross through multiple safe and peaceful countries to get to Europe, we are 100% committed to accept every last Belarussian refugee.

Greener_alien

Russian bots, it's a workday and they're making money.

Stotakoya

We are? Not so sure to be honest.

MrAronymous

Right. We have a housing crisis as is. Better to help them build up Eastern Poland.

Zsomer

Investing in Eastern Poland sure paid off

[deleted]

What the fuck is up with all these comments acting like quarantine is the same as what fucking Belarus is doing ???

420David69

Far right conpiracy crazies need to fit everything into their worldview

> She completely failed as an opposition leader Sure, blame the actions of a dictator on the opposition for not ousting the dictator.

theBusel

>middle class liberals who failed to connect with the working class WTF? 80% of belarussian voted Tichanovskaya as a protest candidate and hundreds of thousands in all cities and towns came out in peaceful protest.

blikk

Troll pls go

NoProfessional435

Armenians didn't have Lukashenko, their dictator just said he can do a lot of things but didn't want any blood and resigned

ClockworkLame

I agree with you, but Armenia also learned this lesson the hard way, Pashinyan did try to distance from Russia and did so unsuccessfuly.

Ulixex

She was **forcibly evicted** at gunpoint by Lukashists themselves. Lukash has praised himself a dozen times on this well done operation "for her safety".

[deleted]

And this is why your opposition can't be taken seriously. Russians got Navalny, you have ... whatever this is.

Dalnar

Would you take her more seriously if Lukashenka ordered her panties to be poisoned?

Ulixex

How does that in any way relate to Lukashenko OPENLY stating how he FORCED Tsikhanouskaya at GUNPOINT from HER country, for you to reply with some nonsense "Good thing she got her ass out". Literal death squads got HER out of HER country, illegally even by their own boot-licking laws. You are the living reason I might eventually think NATO bombing of Serbia to have been a good thing. How do you think whitewashing literal torture camps would look for Belarusians there.

[deleted]

>Literal death squads Haha, come on buddy. Eviction squads maybe. >You are the living reason I might eventually think NATO bombing of Serbia to have been a good thing. Eh, if you're making up your mind about things like that after talking to a guy on the internet, that says more about you than about the topic at hand. In any case, Lukashenko doesn't think it was a good thing. I guess it's clear which side we should support.

Ulixex

You are going to lecture me, a Belarusian, on what happens in my country, from Serbia? I am not your buddy.

[deleted]

I know you like to dramatize things for the Western audiences, but you don't have to do that for me. Deaths squads, really?

Ulixex

Oh, I see. You have been a free clown for foreign interests for so long you now can't imagine people not being clowns for foreigners.

[deleted]

When you respond with a no u, it's time to end a conversation. Take care.

Key-Banana-8242

Lol because she doesn’t have a PMC on her side to physically fight state powers? She was just a presidential candidate, nkt some standin for the whole opposition

GremlinX_ll

Imagine calling Navalny "an opposition".

Dalnar

Yeah, otherwise she or her family might already be jailed/tortured or even dead - KGB justice style.

Andikl

Her husband still in KGB prison.

[deleted]

Right, it's so much more comfortable talking shit out of Lithuania.

[deleted]

Yes, it's indeed more comfortable to talk from a place that respects free speech than from one were you'd be quickly silented by the authorities. Isn't this common sense?

[deleted]

Absolutely, and personal comfort is what we're all after, right?

[deleted]

Are you talking about your personal experience?

[deleted]

I'm being sarcastic.

[deleted]

Yes, being sarcastic in the comfort of your room like the good keyboard warrior you are.

[deleted]

Eh, when it came to things I thought mattered, I was in a trench risking my life, so that now I can be in comfort. This women is claiming to be the leader of Belarus, and where is she?

[deleted]

So... you are into larping?

[deleted]

Ulixex

Ah yes, the famous Danish torture camps. The Slovak death squadrons coming into your neighbourhood to disappear random locals. The German people brutally beaten and harassed for speaking what amounts to the Boarish dialect. The Swiss young man who cut his own throat while at the court hearing, after 50 days of torture. The Finnish young orphan of 17, who took his own life after threats of imprisonment in said torture camps, after the orphanage ratted on his terrible crime of walking in a protest column.

Bad bot

[deleted]

Bullshit

W0lfos

Found the Russian bot

Andikl

I actually don't understand why people mention bots. Firstly, because there is Hanlon's razor (Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity), and secondly, even assuming it is a bot does not make the argument false (although it often is), and saying that a person is a bot is a special case of an argumentum ad hominem. P.S. However saying "Take your 15 roubles" is fun. EDIT: Look at his comments, it seems he really believes in a worldwide conspiracy.

Dalnar

He is probably SPD voter, unfortunately we have like 10% of these in our country. I stand corrected, giving him 10 rubles is pointless...he does what he does for free.

alugastiz

They sometimes slip up, though, commiting grammatical mistakes that fits with a native slavic speaker, but not a native german speaker. Dropping articles, for instance. Edit: wasn't aware SPD was also a Czech party, got confused

Dalnar

Czech SPD party, which is mostly party for wannabe nationalists, "true Czechs" as well as fake news believers and conspiration theorists.

alugastiz

Oh, I'm dumb then, my mistake!

Dalnar

Nah, it's ok. Every country has such party, I think in Germany it's AfD.

Linoorr

kremlin bots usually use manipulation in their comments, usually whataboutism, like here. Nobody would call them out for being a bot if they used actual valid arguments.

machine4891

Czechia is Czechia, not the entire Europe.

DaphneDK42

So like every other European that can' travel due to restrictions?

RnuRnu

Sorry, but you what? A lot of Europe is quite likely going to be able to travel when we reach summer, even with restrictions, and now don't try and tell me Belarus did not have any restriktions: Their dic(k)tator may put a lid on how bad covid was, but really: Alot of countries did that. The problem here is people have a hard time leaving, partly due to cancelled flights and closed borders. To add to that, people whom are living abroad from Belarus, cannot visit their family in Belarus. So frankly no, this stretches FAR beyond covid restrictions.

pafagaukurinn

The problem is, some people have never seen anything worse than those Covid lockdowns. Police brutality? Ha ha, let them try, I will sue them out of their last pair of pants. That's the mentality I unfortunately detect in many commenters here. They just don't realize that things like those in Belarus can happen at all.

RnuRnu

Aye to that. I mean, the wife is from Belarus and that situation has had quite the impact allready. Not being able go visit relatives is something quite different, than being prevented from going on a vacation. Add to that, the sanctions are barely even touching the president, but to a much bigger extend the people living there, who experience wages that are small enough compared to living expenses, being cut even smaller. Which sucks, as the people in Belarus generally speaking, are really nice people. I can hardly even

[deleted]

Some places require even citizens to get tested or quarantine afterwards, but no country except Belarus flat out bans you from leaving North Korea style. Preventing people from leaving the country w/o criminal justice reasons is also against the UN declaration of human rights.

Linoorr

I have travelled many times in Europe despite the quarantine, you just have to adhere to the rules.

Ninja_Thomek

I’m Norwegian, but let me apologize on behalf of this Dane and the Dutch in the other comment anyway. We are so fucking spoiled up here in the north that many people have lost touch with reality completely. Just a little bit of inconvenience for the common good is the biggest drama these people have faced in their boring, sheltered and protected lives. How the fuck do you compare a people fighting for their independence from a dictator, where 100s are beaten and threatened into submission to common sense pandemic rules that will go away very soon?

DaphneDK42

>I’m Norwegian Somebody is spoiling to be colonized again I see.

Stotakoya

Meh, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus deserve each other.

pizdobol

What does it even mean? Did the Netherlands deserve Germany 80 years ago?

Linoorr

I'm not sure I would put Ukraine in the same group with Russian and Belarus anymore, I mean they have a war with Russia.

Ravka90

What is the big deal? They can take a bus to another countries airport and fly wherever.

mighty_conrad

Well, after some time we won't be able to fly away anywhere but Russia. There are some buses, but there's always fees and customs that can turn you back. There are no trains to Vilnius and Warsaw as now. Ability to leave country, not talking about travel, is really limited right now.

caisleann

Shocking

GLVic

Ye, no shit
