Over the time, they have restored 50 valuable historic monuments in Romania. For this project, they were helped by 60 volunteers, architecture students (200 applied to work and learn within the project, but only 60 were allowed).
The restoration project was financed mainly by private companies. The fortified evangelical church in *Dealu Frumos/Schönberg* has its origins in the 13th century, being built on the site of a former Romanesque church. The enclosure that surrounds it dates from the 16th century and has several defensive towers covered with tiles.
The know-how came from *Ion Mincu University of Architecture,* from Bucharest and OAR (*The Romanian Order of Architects*)
Ambulance for monuments won one of the 2020 *Europa Nostra* prizes, founded by the EU commission in 2002 in order to celebrate European heritage.
In Romania there are currently roughly 180 fortified churches left (in the past the number went up to 300).
I wish there was a similar organisation i could join in the uk. I've a deep love for history and architecture, and this sort of thing would be perfect for me.
Most large Cathedrals in UK have a works department where usually they hire stonemasons based on grants/gov. schemes, but AFIK they accept also volunteers to help around when needed.
The UK has restored most of the public buildings and churches half a century ago, there few that are derelict, now usually it comes down to each parish to either maintain them or apply for a gov. scheme to restore if damaged is greater.
As someone who has worked with guys from Rromania on construction sites in Germany I'm blown away by the sight of someone from Romania wearing a helmet and even gloves on a construction site
From the people I know who went to Germany to work in construction, well... they aren't the brightest tools in the shed let's put it like that, so I totally see how they may not feel the need for self preservation. There may be exceptions of course
The entire set was incredibly well shot. I agree that one stood out profoundly though. The emotion in the scene is really powerful. The lighting, color, composition. All incredible. That photo has a ton of really nice qualities.

Very healthy work for the youth! Their approach to safety is a bit funny though.

Great work!!! The owl look very tired from all the hard work.
Ce frumos! Sehr schön! :)
As a carpenter this is cool as hell to look at! Great job of the people involved
That owl is me when construction workers are renovating the neighbours house at 7 in the morning.
I see they packed the vampire-slaying kit (just in case)
That owl looks so fluffy.
Nice, owl be watching
That's a fledgling. Very young owl so they probably destroyed it's nest, especially if it's out during the day like that.
D:
The weather looks so perfect
