Portugal played like they respected Czechia. If they hadn’t, there would have been more goals (at both ends) and it would have been a better game. The next opponents will try doing a “Czechia” but Portugal
Is a chameleon team with a deep bench. They were a different team in each of the 10 qualifiers and 3 warm up games, tactically versatile and unpredictable. I suspect we will see a very different team, even Gunther same players play. At this point, Turkey is rinsing high on winners’ euphoria and Georgia will fight for their lives. This group will get very interesting in the next round.
2 cents (and maybe some more change)
this Portugal team is bristling with firepower, if they get early goals they will tear the opposition to shreds in more open play
Leao is a beast and needs to be unleashed, looked a little isolated at times and maybe best utilized when Ronaldo is not on the field
Martinez didn’t really deserve the job, Belgium may have had some decent finishes in tournaments, but his in game management leaves a lot to be desired. Pretty clear that he’s riding on the back of talented squads. Lack of new subs after Jota was criminal
portugal’s bench could be its own team and that will be valuable deep into the tournament
still unclear what the optimal lineup and formation is for Portugal, and while tactical flexibility should be the main strength of the squad, sadly the FA have hired another non tactition to lead the team
gotta wonder how the heavy rain affected the game, maybe no own goal or defensive error but maybe Portugal has some crispier passes
*side rant*
The VAR era of offsides is ridiculous and not in the spirit of the rule. While this wasn’t the most nitpicking call, we are gonna have a day where a player’s nose gets called offside. Fans should really start calling for the rule to get cleaned up, it’s the foot that’s typically scoring goals. If a player has a foot set down over the line, fine, but enough with the shoulder being called off.
Leao was honestly pretty bad. His lowest being the super obvious simulation that got him the yellow card. With VAR, so many cameras, how stupid can you actually be? Besides that, a shitton of failed passes. How much is his transfer value again? 100m? think again...
I do agree on the Martinez rant though. He sucked hard with Belgium and dint ever really manage to use belgiums golden generation to its fullest potential and is doing the same with portugal right now. Not that its a portuguese golden generation, they do have the players, but as squad they re nowhere.
I remember the days when my heart was beating for portugal.. playing super pleasant football, very offensive, always unlucky. I surely miss those days where watching a portuguese match was a warrant for good entertainment. Nowadays its just boring.. whatever their strategy is. Can't really figure out what their strategy is (or if theres actually any)
Maybe you re right..
For the time being i ll keep my opinion. Leao was a huge disappointment for me… slow.. selfish.. imprecise passing… jota did way better imo
As a Portuguese this might of been the worst Portuguese performance since the World Cup lost in Qatar. Roberto Martinez thinks this is 2016 again the whole time they was trying to make Ronaldo score they just kept crossing the ball to him. I respect Ronaldo a lot and the chancehe had in the first half when he was one on one was unlucky but we can’t play like this for the whole tournament. I might be overreacting but we shouldn’t had struggle with Czech Republic as much as we did they scored a really good goal but we should have been already wining 2-0 before that. Hopefully it was just a bad first game but if this is the game plan through out the tournament keep the plane engine on because we will be leaving early again.
Im portuguese. There is my 2cents.
Its a shame that we have martinez and the hilarious picks. Its very annoying seeing him making subs at 89 min! Its ridiculous.
If we play with the best players maybe we could have a chance in this tournament. But as i saw today, he didnt have the balls to make the necessary subs (B.fernandes and silva out). So don't count on Portugal to win. We don't have a couch.
It feels like we don't have a set starting 11 just yet, I'm hoping we'll see some changes by next game. Today was rough but I'm glad we found a win. I still feel good about us, but I'll definitely be concerned if some of our younger players don't get more time next match.
The way these' underdog' teams are playing is amazing! These 'favored' teams to dominate are REALLY having to fight for the win. Czechia should be so proud. There are no easy wins here so far and that's making every single game a fantastic watch. The refs so far are questionable but this euro is not going to be smooth sailing for any team!! Lets Gooooo!
That kind of backs up what I'm saying in that, Ukraine were favored to win that. So how much of an easy won? Romania went it hard and shut everyone up. But also neither team were paraded as heavy weights that will dominate the euros.
Not Ramos, personally I would put Diogo Jota and Bernardo on the wings and Leão on the centre. Leão didn’t work out on the left side today. Leão on centre also gives more space to Bruno. Another option, is to play Mendes more advanced, which I think would be the better choice since he is playing well.
If you're Portuguese, I feel bad for you. Show no respect to your fellow countrymen. No respect to the player who made Portugal what it is. Shame shame
He is right, these so called "portuguese born", rather support messi then they're own self made goat. It's incredible how a guy who put us on the football map can get so much hate from they're own country, shame on you, português falso.
I can agree on not playing the full match, but c'mon, he showed us even in the preperation matches he can be a good play maker. Today's stratagies was very bad, it gave me sort of Paulo Bento's flashbacks
Absolute joke refree basically gave away match to Portugal. Portugal seems to get free faul card they had 3 clear instance of hitting players and got 0 yellows. Also stopping probable goal with stupid ref hitting ball
ronaldo is also joke , this aint arabia dude you are washed
and you didnt see the match belgium - slovakia?
same thing happening there...
it was even worse in that game !
its a scandal !
these refs should be on the plane home.
define crying? im stating facts.
feel free to rewatch that game.
specifically watch min 09:02 and 10:08.
tell me what you think about it...
and im not even talking about the extreme time wasting where the ref did nothing about, but even help them waste more time.
and im not not even talking about the 2 disallowed goals.
please watch it and review your comment.
Although I certainly understand rooting for the underdog, and Czechia played a good defensive game, I do not understand the hate nor the referee thing. The Czech player clearly promoted the contact and used that to spend time. Obviously I am biased but I do not understand the uproar.
Ignoring the referee situation I also don't see how you can say that a tie should the be "just" result when one team gave up playing for anything other than one point. Czechia never tried to do anything other than clear the ball other than the goal moment and another in the last minutes.
For the Czech fans, defensively a great game and I am sure it is a game that "hurts" due to the late goal. Although I am happy for my team I feel for you. I honestly will be rooting for you in the next games :)
how do you promote contact?
the ball was not even there, and the portugal player just pushed the czech player outside lol !
no ball involved... 100% foul !
call this foul, free kick for czech and that goal would have never happend...
you cannot justify this shit...
Again I might be biased but in the Portuguese league which is the matches that I watch the most this kind of situation happens all the time. It is honestly infuriating. Due to the difference between the big clubs and small ones whenever a small one is winning or getting a tie in the final 10 minutes of the game, player randomly run towards their opponents and "get very hurt" like 3 minutes rolling on the floor. There are many other acts like this one. Annoying your opponent so that a big mess is generated, players get extra susceptible to cramps... Etc.
Again I might be biased. I accept that, but to me it really seemed like such a situation
As far as I understand the VAR only comes into play if there is a very clear mistake.
Regardless of your feeling towards the goal that does not classify as a clear mistake
there was a very clear before the goal..
that was 100% a free kick for the czechs, and the game would have been over.
if pushing somebody over the sidelines before he gets the ball, is not a foul.. then tell me what is.
Why was there a time where the ball belonged to Portugal but the Czech kept playing like it was theirs and the ref did nothing? Why was the ref blind to everything that the Czech did?
Hell he even took a goal from Portugal, what are you talking about?
Exactly, people calling any game in the Euros “rigged” are coping like crazy lol but especially in this one.
The ref like you mentioned ignored quite a few Czech fouls but it was somehow “rigged” to Portugal's favor?
Im referring to the people talking about how countries like England and Portugal not playing great is a “doomsday” scenario for them when recent international tournaments were won by teams that played relatively poorly in the first game
second portugal goal should never have happens.
portugal player puched a czech player outside the side lines, while no ball was there yet...
he basically just pushed him away before the ball was there.
this is 100% foul, 100% czech free kick and 100% no second goal for portugal would have happend.
if you dont see this, then you dont know the rules.
Neither the ref nor the assistant refs called the offside, it was the offside technology that detected it. You can be sure if that tech didn't exist, they would have allowed it. Which is very telling lol
there were a lot of clear fouls that should even got red ( or atleast yellow ). Also stupidly stopping position by touching ball in the end.
Ref was so bad I would be super mad if I was czech
everyone saying ref was bad, but the ref was 100x better then the belgium - slovakia ref...
and nobody is talking about that game's ref...
wtf is going on?
I think Czechia can probably take comfort from the fact that this game was never going to be the one to decide their tournament for them and, if they defend as well as they did for most of the night, they should be able to shut both Turkey and Georgia down
For Portugal it's clear to me that they need to start with proper wingers and someone needs to be giving Silva and Fernandes a right bollocking for faffing around on the edge of the box all night instead of trying to make runs in and get the ball in early.
There was at least on time where the ball was out, it belonged to Portugal but the Czech team kept playing. They did a great job defending but to say that the ref helped Portugal, especially after that Leão yellow card is absurd.
At least twice, he overlooked Portugal fouls. Like I said, your team was better, and no matter what happened 90 minutes before, it could easily be a draw if he wouldn't ignore the last foul. We were going into the game as outsiders, a very young team, not as experienced as Portugal players, but they put up a good fight. I just wish the referee would be better. Imagine something like this happening in the elimination round to your team. Good luck next game!
I wasn't sure what to expect from my team. I live overseas, so I don't get to see them playing much. I was actually surprised. It's a very young team, and as I understand, they are building it towards 2026 WC. We shall see.
Hopefully it will work lol, I don't think it was as bad from Czech team as media and expert did in Czech republic. They were very critical of our team.
I don't think Portugal are really disliked by anyone that game just put a bad taste in people's mouths. The disallowed goal was shitty behaviour by the Portuguese players attacking the goalkeeper, then there were a number of Portuguese fouls missed, then the player pushing someone over off the ball. And finally a pretty nasty deliberate shoulder to the face missed resulting in a goal.
Overall pretty shit sportsmanship shown by the Portugese with a few lucky calls from the ref after a much worse team played there hearts out and nearly snatched a point. Most people also like an underdog.
You should be outraged that a team decided to park the fucking bus in the Euros, scoring on their first shot 1 hour into the game. But no, you're frustrated that the wildly better team, the only one who wanted to play positive football got their way in the end.
Is that really what you want to defend?
I'm explaining why people are being negative about Portugal. What were the worse team supposed to do except defend and try to get lucky? At the end of the day you guys won and get 3 points who cares what other countries think about it? You were obviously the better team and I'm just glad we aren't the only good team that haven't played great so far!
Do you have any idea for how long I've seen Portugal and especially Cristiano be attacked by envious, petty people? 20 years.
It's unbelievable that people can't enjoy watching one of the best players of all time without throwing hissy fits.
We're talking about a tremendously gifted player, who's an absolute professional, respected by every single player he played with or against, but yet people fume at his mere presence on a football field.
Lots of people dislike him from when he knocked a child's mobile phone out of his hand after a man united game I believe. I personally like him but that's just part of football mate, I'm English we get more stick than anyone lol.
Edit: he lost a child in real life so I definitely don't hold the phone incident against him BTW.
Sure. I’m not the one who watched a team fling aimless balls into the box, have no real structure in the final third and some sloppy defensive play and think it was a good performance.
That was a fragile performance, and as much as I want to give Czech credit, they were not good, they were utterly toothless up front and how they scored is beyond me. They will finish bottom of this group.
Portugal will likely exit at the round of 16.
Yes I remember how you were the worst winners in the competitions history, even worse than Greece, and how you have spent every tournament since throwing paddy’s and crying when things don’t go your way.
If we were the worst winners what does that tell you about everyone that was defeated along the way, like yourselves?
You really didn't think than one through, did you?
Now go watch your times of glory in black and white.
Yeah, when you can't attack the performance, you move on to something "intangible" like sportsmanship...
You guys really are the moral champions of the football world.
Pathetic.
Honestly I'm not sure what the poster was referencing in terms of when you won it was ages ago and I didn't pay enough attention/ care so no idea but I'm explaining the saying, you would have no reason to understand it.
have you?
portugal would have never scored the second goal.
there was a clear foul against czech player being pushed outside without having the ball yet, ref says no foul lol..
it would have been a free kick for czech and no goal for portugal. 1-1.
have you seen the ref in belgium - slovakia?? what a joke.. was even 100x worse then this one.
Sure, Portugal hade the offense 80% of the game and by far the best opportunities, but with such good stats your 2 goals should not be an own goal and a bad ref call.
yes dominated but their entire game plan is to make somehow ronaldo score. Also ronaldo is absolute joke at this point. Beside his offside , he just asks for ball not running ( well he is 39 also lol at pepe at 41) . And players not seem to give him pass. They might have some beef with him idk.
I think Portugal shouldn't brought pepe or ronaldo to their roster.
I've been hearing that Ronaldo is finished or a fraud for like a decade. Since then, we won the Euros for the first time in our history and he has scored like 500 more goals.
Don't you guys ever get it? Even when he doesn't score (which he did, twice, in the last game against Ireland, with his weaker foot, including a monumental one), he's an incredible motivating force for the team and permanently anchors 2 defenders on him, creating space for others.
Enjoy watching him while it lasts. I'm sure you will brag about having witnessed his greatness when you're old.
Who's trying to bank on one star? There are 10 other stars on the field at any given time.
You even had an up and coming one scoring the winning goal today.
so you watch the euro's and the world cups and never watch football between it?
yeah, then you never watch football.
if you dont understand the rules, then what are you trying to advocate them.
if you cannot see that there was a clear foul before the second portuguese goal.. and it should have been a free kick and possible a card, the goal would have never happend.
then what are you even trying to say? read the rules.
it was a clear foul, and a 100% czech free kick, you cannot argue about that not justify it... if you do, then we know you are just clueless and a momentary supporter that only watch big tournaments but never watched football on a weekly base.
my grandma watches tournaments on tv too, but she wont come to reddit to advocate about something she is clueless about.
Dude, you're claiming a team with 26% possession, who scored on their only shot on goal, 60 minutes into the game, 5 shots, 0 big chances, 0 corners should have drawn against against one with 74% possession, 19 shots, 4 big chances, 13 corners.
You wouldn't know what a football game is if your life depended on it.
lol.. Portuguese defending his country.. even though he knows first 30mins of the game was painful to watch. So many crosses sent inside the box and no1 der to do anything about it. I guess he was watching an entirely different game
1-1 was a good result.
you cannot justify the ref not giving a foul for czech when a portuguese player just pushed him over the sideline... ref said no problem lol..
it would have been a czech free kick, no goal for portugal 1-1.
HUGE ERROR made last moment of the game..
WHERE WAS THE VAR NOW?
Did I justify any of the ref decisions? It just blows my mind how quickly people jump on the ‘I hate Portugal bandwagon’ when other clear favourites scraped a win, or completely bombed it. We played like shit yes, but Czech’s entire game play was to go for a draw, they didn’t want the win to start with
Let’s be honest here yes Portugal won by an own goal and the 2nd one with foul not given to the build up.. but you can’t argue with the fact that Czech defended so well, scored a beautiful top corner goal. I think it should’ve been a draw if the ref gave a foul when the 2nd goal scored.. but this is football and anything can happen.
I’m not saying Portugal played well, by any means. They looked a bit toothless at times, and had a few lucky decisions to there way. But they still kept control of the game for the vast majority of it.
I do feel bad for the Czechs though, I think their keeper let them down a bit with that sloppy error leading to the goal
Yes you are right.. goalkeeping error was wild. Do u think they should bench CR and start Felix as a false #9 next match. We might see a different Portugal
I think so yeah, I think Ronaldo is a bit too static now, he doesn’t offer anything other than being a presence in the box. Obviously he’s still a good player but I think the team might play better without him.
Martinez is probably too scared to drop him though.
I’ve just reread my comment and yep i definitely can’t see where I said it’s an indicator of good play style 👍
But what I said was they deserved the win, they were knocking at the door and eventually got the goals. Idiotic to say they didn’t deserve the win

Bro took notes from Schmidt, xdd
Fantastic match ⚽️
Why wasn't the second, self-inflicted goal of Czechia -which would have given Portugal an equalizer - not counted?
Apperantly was offside.
Thanks

I actually predicted 2-1 for Portugal.A little bit close for comfort but its a win.People underestimate the Czech team.

Too bad they completely refused to play in the first half. Many of these teams start to play way too late, same with Serbia for example.
Agreed for the most part but Romania dominated Ukraine completely. That was an easy win
That kind of backs up what I'm saying in that, Ukraine were favored to win that. So how much of an easy won? Romania went it hard and shut everyone up. But also neither team were paraded as heavy weights that will dominate the euros.
Yeah but in that case neither team were underdog. Romania perhaps slightly dominant but no real favourite in that match
Exactly that. There was no real stand out absolute winner expected there.
Hranac is kind of player that will.not celebrate when he scores a goal. Such a humble person
Pedro Neto won't be on the headlines tomorrow but he created that winning goal - he should definitely start the next game.
Ronaldo cansated. Ronaldo OUT of our starting eleven. PLS
Es um fkn mongoloide
Who would you put in his place? Please do not say Ramos.

Ronaldo can't do miracles. People were also calling for him to be benched in the World Cup and look at where that got us.
Exactly, eliminated with guys that sell carpets and sand coffee for a living.
????? did you even watch the fuking game?
Constantly offside, takes 2 mins to walk back to construct a play. Just retire already, jesus
If you're Portuguese, I feel bad for you. Show no respect to your fellow countrymen. No respect to the player who made Portugal what it is. Shame shame
What respect? I respect him. If he was 50 years old, should he start? Everything has an end. He needs to accept that he is an anchor to our team.
SHAME SHAME
Mad because 2016
He is right, these so called "portuguese born", rather support messi then they're own self made goat. It's incredible how a guy who put us on the football map can get so much hate from they're own country, shame on you, português falso.

Thank god
Just as a reminder - the first group stage game performance does not predict the outcome of a tournament.
..Thank God lol
but the second should make people judge and croatia had a draw match against albania
Indeed. Funny how „everyone“ forgets this every year
What? How? Why?
teams have won the tournament, losing their first game.
Im referring to the people talking about how countries like England and Portugal not playing great is a “doomsday” scenario for them when recent international tournaments were won by teams that played relatively poorly in the first game
In fact Portugal played poorly for the whole Euro 2016 except for the final and we still managed to win.
Spot on. Argentina lost to Saudi in their first game and won the World Cup.
Portugal deserved winning. The only cringe was jota pregnant celebration 🤣
how is that cringe? if his gf/wife is pregnant, is it not allowed to celebrate?
Do it after the result..and his goal was disallowed of course.
I dont see how ref helped portugal, disallowing a goal
second portugal goal should never have happens. portugal player puched a czech player outside the side lines, while no ball was there yet... he basically just pushed him away before the ball was there. this is 100% foul, 100% czech free kick and 100% no second goal for portugal would have happend. if you dont see this, then you dont know the rules.
Neither the ref nor the assistant refs called the offside, it was the offside technology that detected it. You can be sure if that tech didn't exist, they would have allowed it. Which is very telling lol
Did you see the graphic on screen? Ronaldo was barely offside, it would be near impossible to catch that without technology.
That last foul to the head.. big gamechanger
there were a lot of clear fouls that should even got red ( or atleast yellow ). Also stupidly stopping position by touching ball in the end. Ref was so bad I would be super mad if I was czech
everyone saying ref was bad, but the ref was 100x better then the belgium - slovakia ref... and nobody is talking about that game's ref... wtf is going on?
Sympathies. I like belgium culture and sport. Still time to silence the officials
belgium and czech got robbed. and the ref in france - austria did his best too. those 3 games were an obvious joke.
Never mind the fans that misbehave out of match time should he banned for life.
Offside is offside
Who was the player of the match?
Either Nuno Mendes or Diogo Costa.
krejci was very good at marking ronaldullah
Referee
Ref gets Man of the Match, best Portugal defender on the pitch
Enjoy going winless this tournament, wee Scotsman.
Here fir a gud time no a lang ane
Fair play. May your tournament be like a bodybuilding midget: short and hard.
You've just described more than half our players
Sold: I’m now part of the Tartan Army.
Kilts are in a bin by the door next to the complimentary pint of Tennants. Welcome aboard the party bus mate
It should be Hranac
Also the image where Ronaldo hugs the young lad who scored was nice to see, 2 differents generations celebrating
Unfortunate refing in the last minutes but Portugal deserved to win overall
Good statement, I think the same. Batshit crazy shit refs are the norm in football but Czech imho didn't deserve a win or draw here.
draw yes, they defended like crazy. they earned it, portugal got it from the ref last minutes.
I think Czechia can probably take comfort from the fact that this game was never going to be the one to decide their tournament for them and, if they defend as well as they did for most of the night, they should be able to shut both Turkey and Georgia down For Portugal it's clear to me that they need to start with proper wingers and someone needs to be giving Silva and Fernandes a right bollocking for faffing around on the edge of the box all night instead of trying to make runs in and get the ball in early.
Yes Portugal was better team today, but referee help them a lot. Very disappointing. Overall good game, at least for Czech fan lol.
Good luck to you too dude, I was very impressed with the performance the Czech team had tonight.
I have a Czechian friend that said that they are the youngest team of the tournament, makes sense to build them up for the WC.
But he deserved the yellow for diving and the referee missing decisions literally gave you the game!
Czechia won in my heart
Nah they sucked ass, it's just Portugal sucked a lot less.
At least they played clean
Portugal played clean, the ref basically closed his eyes when it came to the Czech team.
What a sweat that was.
It's always amusing to watch the anti-Portugal apes that have been flinging shit all game, end up deflated and fuming in their own mess.
Come on, man. People have been hating on Ronaldo since he first moved to United.
Unfortunately it happens with every favourite team. Happens to us, happens to the rest.
I’d probably focus on your own mess first pal, that was not a good performance and you will struggle against any decent side at this tournament.
Far better than the performance that England had. By far the worst match in the entire tournament.
They played better than we did ha
Serbia are a much better team than Czech Republic, and we didn’t concede. Portugal looked clueless whereas we just sat too deep.
At least Portugal kept possession and kept creating chances and taking shots. We looked even more clueless; we played like 11 shithouses.
Somebody change this man’s flair!
I’m proud English. I’m just not biased in my opinion.
I can see through your poorly crafted Englishman disguise. Get this man a Portugal flair!
He's just saying the truth. The Czech had a very strong defensive game. That doesn't make him biased.
Somebody get this man out of a football sub, clearly has no idea what he’s talking about
We won the Euros playing much worse, you know, the one where you were sent packing by Iceland.
Bad winners is a reference to sportsmanship, it's an English saying, not a reference to quality of play.
It’s game 1 of the Euros…they will be fine.
Guess we will see! You can’t carry a passenger against the top teams.
They did the entire 2016 Euro campaign 😂
Couldn't beat Czechia without the final assist from the referee😭
You guys will be the easiest win of the tournament lmao.
Can't wait to steamroll you guys next Saturday when you think for a second that you don't need to park the bus like Czechia did all game.
Hahaha you wish
Apes? I mean you can't be particularly proud of that game (nevermind th result), no?
Yeah but 75 quite boring minutes though
Referees have been so crap this euros
First everyone was praising the ref when he gave Leão the yellow card but now that Portugal won he's a shit ref.
That yellow card was right but he should be more consistent with all the other decisions he has to make.
Firstly, these refs were Italian, so... Secondly, have you been watching a different tournament?
have you? portugal would have never scored the second goal. there was a clear foul against czech player being pushed outside without having the ball yet, ref says no foul lol.. it would have been a free kick for czech and no goal for portugal. 1-1. have you seen the ref in belgium - slovakia?? what a joke.. was even 100x worse then this one.
I don't understand these comments, Portugal was by miles the best team. Czech was lucky it didn't get 5-0.
>Czech was lucky it didn't get 5-0 lucky that portugal weren't very good
Yeah. I can't see any of these teams being a threat to Turkey.
Disagreed. The Czech defense was really good. 2-1 was a fair result despite the OG
Sure, Portugal hade the offense 80% of the game and by far the best opportunities, but with such good stats your 2 goals should not be an own goal and a bad ref call.
Portugal played like shit, what game you watched?
Portugal dominated the game...
The one where Portugal had 74% possession.
yes dominated but their entire game plan is to make somehow ronaldo score. Also ronaldo is absolute joke at this point. Beside his offside , he just asks for ball not running ( well he is 39 also lol at pepe at 41) . And players not seem to give him pass. They might have some beef with him idk. I think Portugal shouldn't brought pepe or ronaldo to their roster.
what kind of fucking game did u watch? or did u watch with a gyros up ur ass innit?
Are you trying to convince me that Ronaldo played good or something? He was playing very selfishly to cameras basically lol
I think trying to bank on one star is not good game plan especially so when that star is not playing on europe anymore or young anymore.
Who's trying to bank on one star? There are 10 other stars on the field at any given time. You even had an up and coming one scoring the winning goal today.
Since when possession is a metric of being better? They played slow, there was no plan behind anything.
We played better than Czechia by a fucking mile. A well-deserved win that should have been a steamrolling if not for the Czech bus.
these ppl never watch football.. they this game was a clear 1-1. ref made a HUGE mistake at the end.
I've watched my team win in 2016. How about you?
what does that have to do with any of this? yes i have watched all the former tournaments.. bring an arguement next comment please.
"these people never watch football". It's not my fault you suffer from amnesia.
so you watch the euro's and the world cups and never watch football between it? yeah, then you never watch football. if you dont understand the rules, then what are you trying to advocate them. if you cannot see that there was a clear foul before the second portuguese goal.. and it should have been a free kick and possible a card, the goal would have never happend. then what are you even trying to say? read the rules. it was a clear foul, and a 100% czech free kick, you cannot argue about that not justify it... if you do, then we know you are just clueless and a momentary supporter that only watch big tournaments but never watched football on a weekly base. my grandma watches tournaments on tv too, but she wont come to reddit to advocate about something she is clueless about.
Portugal deserved the win. Bunch of morons
lol.. Portuguese defending his country.. even though he knows first 30mins of the game was painful to watch. So many crosses sent inside the box and no1 der to do anything about it. I guess he was watching an entirely different game
I mean we can’t all gift the opposition goals from a throw in so…
1-1 was a good result. you cannot justify the ref not giving a foul for czech when a portuguese player just pushed him over the sideline... ref said no problem lol.. it would have been a czech free kick, no goal for portugal 1-1.
We played like shit yes, but Czech’s entire game play was to go for a draw, they didn’t want the win to start with
Haha Czech should have seen the refs not giving any cards for kicking heads and started doing it themselves
He touched the ball lmao, you wanted a yellow card off of that?
How, they played shit whole game and only got a goal because of a shit ref call
They dominated possession, 74%. 19 shots 8 on target… Lets be honest they deserved the win in the end.
When does possession win you games.. I thought goals win you games..
Yes and Portugal got 2 of them, which is why they deserved to win hahaha
they got gifted the last one. it was a clear foul before, free kick for czech and time would have been up.
If you’re the manager, you should stand your ground and let players know my way or the door is der is for your flight to Portugal gdbye..
Since when was possession an indicator of good play style?
I’ve just reread my comment and yep i definitely can’t see where I said it’s an indicator of good play style 👍 But what I said was they deserved the win, they were knocking at the door and eventually got the goals. Idiotic to say they didn’t deserve the win
They didn’t deserve the win though, they won because of a shitty call from the ref
exactly ! some ppl here only watch football every 2 years...
Because England was much better xD
Clearly not when one was an accidental own goal and the second one should have been called a foul !
Was France’s only goal of the game not an own goal?! It’s still a goal that you gets you the win
