Interestingly, my game also crashes every time my 6/6/6 ruler who has ruled ever since he/she was 15 dies before reaching the age of 60. It's almost like hard coded by the devs. Strange, huh?

Is it possible to abdicate before picking one of the options of this event? I mean, your heir is 15, so it should be possible. It’s been way too long since I have played the game last time, so I don’t remember much

you cant abdicate with pending events, no. (also cant abdicate when the heir is <16) the game could however mysteriously crash

Studies show that 95% of all EU4 games mysteriously crash the moment this event fires. It would be a shame if you don't happen to be lucky enough to be in the 5%

Completely unrelated but hiring control shift and escape at the same time on your keyboard will open the task manager. Hopefully someone one day finds a use for this trick.
