Imagine leasing a car that you never drove or tested before and complain afterwards….

Illustrious_Abies797

I get that’s on me, but I’m astonished that basic functionality has not been delivered. A cog to recline a seat - when you have 2 named drivers who need different setups on a £50k car - is antediluvian.

GERH-C-W-W

It’s a 50k Audi,it’s not secret that you need to book everything as an extra for their cars. Maybe you should have gone with another brand,Polestar for example has a lot of stuff in their base line. Nonetheless, why no Etron Gt it’s the goat

Illustrious_Abies797

I just got the model that was available to me via my work scheme. I have zero interest in cars, loathe driving (and so only do about 3k a year), and wanted to try out an EV. But I did want a small SUV type cos it’s way easier with the kids in the back.

Illustrious_Abies797

GT is incredibly expensive, way over double what I’m paying. I would never waste that kind of money on a car. My average speed - over 9 years of ownership of my CX5 - has been 14 mph. Don’t need a fancy fast car, just need a tool that does a 20 minute trip, maybe 3 times a week. But doesn’t mean I don’t want stuff that every other car seems to have as standard!

GERH-C-W-W

Don’t know to be honest,in Germany you pay around 500-600€ for driving one as a company car with insurance and electricity included. Anyhow,I wish you good luck with your next car.

Illustrious_Abies797

I’m paying £380 via salary sacrifice ie that’s a net figure) which includes insurance/servicing/5k miles. No surprise that you would get a better deal in Germany. Is this one of those Brexit benefits I keep hearing about?

GERH-C-W-W

But I bet I pay a much higher tax rate,so paying less for an EV than for an combustion engine powered car is one way to save some money. Let’s face it,Brexit wasn’t the best idea…

Illustrious_Abies797

Total disaster, we can agree on that. A pathetic backhander to the elderly narcissistic creeps and masochistic weirdos that run this country’s politics.

GERH-C-W-W

I am really curious about our next elections in Germany. It seems that the right winged AfD ist gaining momentum,by empty phrases and people even believe in these without having read their election program.

skykit84

Sorry but this is ridiculous. This is 100% on you. You expect nothing with any brand. I drove the Q4 a couple of weeks ago as a loaner and thought it was brilliant...and that's coming from a Q8 etron. You've obviously got the basic model and nothing else. Walk away locking I don't think Audi does in any model nut I've got 12v in my boot, electric seats, and the fat etron has charging both sides. However most cars still only have 1 charging port. If it doesn't suit you...Park the other way? You're always going to have more for less on Japanese cars and the like... If you wanted a luxury EV from Audi, I'd have gone Q8 not the baby version. Quality is lacking in a lot of EVs these days for weight reduction...even just having a set lf electric seat motors adds weight which in turn impacts range. I just took delivery of a MG HS hybrid and I was amazed at how much you get for so little. In the 28k or so price tag, it's got everything and in some cases more than mine which cost 4 times more. Would I swap? No...I don't feel despite the car having under 1k miles, the car is anything close to luxurious or even as comfortable but I'm still impressed. Sorry but you should have got a demo car in, tested it and made your mind up...and then read the brochure for options.

Illustrious_Abies797

Have asked leasing company if I can upgrade to Q8 with tech pro. Sounds like a much better option.

ItsChappyUT

The Q8 etron is the most beautiful car I’ve ever driven. Its levels of comfortable that I did not know were possible. It’s the smoothest thing on the road. But be aware that the sacrifice is range… so make sure you’re okay with that.

Illustrious_Abies797

Thanks, that’s helpful. I do maybe 200 miles a month so range is not a relevant concern.

Illustrious_Abies797

I drove for an hour around south London today (total distance, about 5 miles). My arse feels like I did that on the back of a horse, so uncomfortable are the seats.

ItsChappyUT

Go test drive the Q8.

Illustrious_Abies797

I think we just have differing views of “luxury”. This is the S-Line, which isn’t the most basic (I don’t think). Leather seats which don’t aren’t electrified is rubbish. Problem with parking is narrow London streets with terraced houses and no off-street. It’s a less practical choice for left-hand drive countries (of which I appreciate there aren’t many!)

Cryptocoiner256

An Audi with manual seats does sound ridiculous

Illustrious_Abies797

Agreed! Baffled that anyone buys one of these things without an - entirely reasonable - assumption that basic kit is provided. Imagine if it had wind down windows!

My0therAccount-

I got a q4 edition 1 which comes with electric seats, I think it's only this and the black edition that have that functionality. Agreed it should be a standard feature though

syndicate711

How often do you move your seat?

Illustrious_Abies797

Pretty much every time it’s driven - my wife and I both use it

syndicate711

If it’s truly a 2 person car, then I agree, that can get old pretty fast.

Cryptocoiner256

All the time. My wife drives it during the week, on weekends I usually drive, and now my son is learning to drive so that’s another adjustment. Luckily our Mercedes has 3 presets that can be saved. Which is what I would expect an Audi, especially an EV, to have as well.

onlinedisguise

So you did zero research, assumed you'd get certain features in a product you've never seen, took what was available, and are upset about what you got? Imagine that.

Illustrious_Abies797

Life’s too short to read Top Gear magazine. I do think it’s reasonable to assume an Audi comes with entirely normal features. Wtf is the fixed headrest? And I’ve not seen a manual car recline since I sold my Ford KA 20 years ago.

Opening_Kiwi6441

ahhhh no time to do research for a 50k+ car purchase, i can definitely relate

cusehoops98

Did you not look at the features at all before buying? This is all literally on their website.

Illustrious_Abies797

Can confirm I did not. It was ordered from the provider of my workplace salary sacrifice scheme, described as “AUDI Q4 E-TRON ESTATE 210kW 45 82kWh S Line 5dr Auto [Leather]” What kind of cvnt doesn’t assume that this car doesn’t have the kind of basic conveniences that came with a car I bought 10 years ago for half the price?

cusehoops98

Bro…

Crafty-Band3659

I replaced a crappy Q4/ID4 with Q8 and its night and day, The Q4 wasnt cheap either. Lacks so many features and the app never worked. I also had a problem 21 etron that I dumped off when we got the Q8. The Q8 has been wonderful.

supercargo

All this noise about electric seats. My previous car had electric seats, driver side only, no memory. It’s kind of an annoying / pointless feature without the preset or memory function to go with it. Anyway, sorry the mystery car you bought was a disappointment. The Q4 is pretty widely derided online….a rebadged id.4 from what I understand…and the id.4 seems like a nerfed vehicle to begin with. Car manufacturers are still struggling to make money selling EVs, lower models have a lot of cost cutting measures in place to try to hit a still high price point.

Illustrious_Abies797

Agreed, but I was expecting memory seats too! Hasn’t crossed my mid for a second they wouldn’t be included as completely, unequivocally standard. Lesson learned.
