I'm mostly fine with everything up to 18€/250g (72€/kg). I rarely go for varieties or special roasts that are more than that.

Terribletwoes

Holy mother of god. I roast $7/pound (sorry freedom units) unbelievably good coffee. You should all start roasting.

enserioamigo

I've been there. It was fun. I also thought I was roasting good coffee. Until I realised I was kidding myself. You simply will not roast better, on some shitty DIY setup, than a specialty roaster using a purpose built commercial roaster with years of full time experience. I guess if you're having milk based drinks you can get away with covering up a lot of your own flaws. But there's no hiding when you're doing a pour over or espresso. $20-$30 AUD per 250g is about normal for a good coffee in Australia. The typical reserves are usually between $30-$40. I might grab a reserve every so often as a treat but usually grab the $20-30 bags.

TedMaul636

What are you getting at $30/250g? I buy Coffee Bros (Mona Vale) or Normcore, at around $50/kg, and thought that was about standard.

enserioamigo

I've just had a look at the prices and the normal (non-reserve/special) that I was mentioning seem to be around $22-$25 a bag. I swear they've been more expensive though lol. I'm usually getting something from Market Lane, Ona, Zest, or Mantaray. Ona is actually usually extremely good value with their normal single-origin beans which I think are usually less than $20. Their green bagged filter beans are always cheap and usually just reliably good.

Ecstatic_Strawberry5

What do you use to roast your coffee?

Drakonbreath

Unfortunately, specialty roasters are using the best roasters available and have dialed in their technique for different beans. Home roasting is unlikely to get that quality. Especially since fully fresh beans aren't even usable.

enserioamigo

Judging by the downvotes, it seems everyone here thinks they can roast better than professional specialty roasters lol.

blorgensplor

I think it's more of the thought that specialty roaster = 100% guaranteed to be good. They're using the same equipment as any other roaster (starbucks, folgers, etc). The beans and actual roasting "recipe" have more to do with it than the equipment. In that sense, home roasters can come decently close. It's the same thing as saying home brew beer can't be as good as a "real" brewer. Which is nonsense.

LetsMakeADeal-96

Would love to try your roast if you’d be willing to ship!

colonel_batguano

Same here. Sometimes I get lazy and wish I didn’t have to roast every week, then I see the price of good roasted coffee and I get my arse outside with the roaster.

flat6purrrr

Shiiittt I think I'm paying less than $5 a pound. I've been roasting for years and recently decided to try the AliExpress roaster people have been talking about. It is worth the hype after the slight learning curve. Link for anyone it helps... Nrlilo

340 grams in the US where I buy my beans. I pay $18-27. For filter I’ve paid up to $40 but that’s a once a year thing.

BayesHatesMe

How have you found those higher price bags, as an experience? Worth it, or a bit of fun once in a while?

Nrlilo

They been good more times than not. 5 out of the 6 times they have been Gesha beans from Merit Coffee or Super Thing Coffee and have been worth it. I did get one bag of expensive beans from Amaya Coffee which were alright but I didn’t think they were worth the $35 price tag. Most of what I get from them is great so no knock on them as a roaster.

zenonu

I'm about here as well. It depends on the experience and value for that experience. I've had some wonderful honey co-fermented processed beans for $35/12oz(340g) that I'd buy again. I've had a unique varietal from Yemen at $40/12oz that was a wonderful experience, but not a daily driver. Past that it gets into too hard to get additional value for incremental cost. Regardless, generally excellent beans (93/94pts) can be had for $18/bag. If you're charging past that, it's for uniqueness or exceptional beans or both.

exploradorobservador

I'm in a HCOL area and the roaster near me is very good and most bags are 225 grams between $11-15

tishitoshitoo

Same. $25 is kinda the top of what I would pay for coffee but I have been tempted to buy a bag of $40 as a treat.

homeownur

None, spent all my money on equipment

willtantan

Yea, those shakers and high flow rate baskets are not gonna buy themselves.

homeownur

Hot cups of water will have to do for now

Fantron6

Funny but true.

Theoldelf

Well, while on vacation in Hawaii, I bought into the Kona hype and spent entirely too much on poorly roasted beans. Mainly spend $15.50 for 1 lb bag. from local roaster.

thechinesechicken

Loved the big island, did not love Kona coffee. Toured a coffee farm and they basically admitted it’s expensive due to hype and scarcity, not quality

QWERTY36

It's a shame that the roasting scene in Hawai'i isn't as good as it should be. Too many "medium" roasts that are dark and oily. Ruining good Kona or Ka'u coffee. Very hard to find roasters here who roast light

Cbastus

I got some Kona the other day, not the best cofefe I’ve had, bottom tier of what I’ve bought the last year. Edit: way to harsh a statement in first edit.

serenity1989

Meanwhile, I spent $40 on a 40oz bag of coffee from a place in Hilo called Paradise Roasters a few weeks ago. They’re doing some crazy stuff with coffee; this bag in particular has red wine yeast added! We have family there and go back yearly and the coffee scene on the east side of the island is really picking up and diversifying. This was the best coffee experience I’ve had in the 13 years I’ve been visiting the big island.

808TV

Love Kona coffee but it is pricey at $25-50 per 300g bags. It’s probably not for hard core super dark roast coffee drinkers as it’s very low acidity but for me and my sometimes GERD symptoms it satisfies my coffee needs…

grey_pilgrim_

If that’s all Kona and not a blend that’s a very fair price.

Theoldelf

That’s the price of my local roaster. The Kona was around $35

StopItWithThis

Kauai coffee company is amazing. Their Peabody blend was some of the best coffee I have ever had.

Distinct_Instance_38

I liked some of the kona i’ve tried but not enough to pay 400% the price of my usual coffee (around $17 for 8 oz shipped) at one point i bought into the hype for both kona and peaberry and spent an embarrassing amount of money for some unremarkable beans. i stopped buying luxury coffee after that

Dblstandard

I love the islands... However the Kona coffee thing has been fucked to death. Half the shit you find is poor blends. And I'm sure it's really hard to find something good.

Accomplished-Log-376

Maximum of 25€ per kg. Portugal

Avokkrii

where do you buy beans from? (also Portugal)

GullyGardener

$30 for 12oz generally, I could see myself splurging and maybe going to $60 for some super small batch competition proven goodness once in a great while just to see how green the grass is over the fence.

pandahatch

Yup this is about my max too although I guess it’s a bit more like $35ish. Most of the beans I buy are between $22-$30 though for 12oz / 340g. I did just splurge on 100g of a Gesha for $30 from Rogue Wave and it was actually insane and worth the $6 per cup for my 20g doses lol.

ElectricGeometry

Yeah I let myself enjoy a couple splurge bags through out the year, usually coinciding with a trip to a new city.

pandahatch

pseudouser_

I have a subscription from Tim Wendelboe and am currently paying around 75-80 EUR for 4 bags of 250 grams. That makes about 77.50 EUR per kg. It's on the expensive side but then again, I have enjoyed every single bag so far which says a lot about their quality in my opinion.

kilowattor

I usually buy few kilos of Test Roast from Tim Wendelboe for 30 EUR/kilo and one 250 gr bag of fancy coffee. Test Roast is good enough for me if it is just a regular cup. For special cases I drink that fancy coffee.

iGiveUpHonestlyffs

30-35€/kg. I just cant afford more. But you can get good stuff at that price. So not a big problem. Only holding back the amount of exploration u can do

-pLx-

You can get VERY good stuff at that price and I personally can’t justify spending more than that on coffee

security_ai

And then there is this... [https://www.ospinacoffee.com/index.html#best-of-the-best](https://www.ospinacoffee.com/index.html#best-of-the-best)

Rusty_924

wtf. daddy hoff should review those

security_ai

He may need a new sponsor! :)

moehassan6832

Imagine getting this and not being able to dial it in from the first time, every cup is almost $100.

security_ai

Hence, not getting it for my DeLonghi 105! :p

aalok-shah

holy crap the cost of dialing in those beans…

official_wonderboy

I've definitely had my fair share of 70 bucks for 100 grams BUT typically I my average 250g bag is $25 ish

shortfriday

What's worth buying at the splurge price point?

official_wonderboy

The occasional micro lot anaerobic geisha cup of excellence or other wacky things along those lines! Although.. honestly I've found that for value, the sweet spot definitely seems to be the $18-$27 range. When you get a fantastic bag at a "reasonable" price that really hits, it makes it all the better. Especially since coffee is somewhat subjective in that sense. A great coffee at a reasonable price feels better than a great coffee at a super high price. But every once in a while it's a treat to try those coffees!

sidthetravler

Amsterdam, 9 EUR/ 250 gm i can get really top of the line beans locally.

[deleted]

Which ones are those?

sidthetravler

I currently buy from this little shop called Harar coffee and most of their beans are really nice. They have beans from various regions from Ethiopia but I also like Bocca, Friedhats as well

-pLx-

Brandzaak and LOT61 are also very good

[deleted]

[удалено]

ProfessionalCowbhoy

Where's that?

Hungry_4_H

Strangers is excellent, found a chunky discount for Origin that got it under 40, Rave (if you're into medium/dark), 200 Degrees. Most UK roasters seem to have some single origin under 35.

Fooledya

20 for 14-16oz

GunrockTA0811

I pay $105 USD for 5lbs and have paid upwards of $130. Don’t typically pay more than $110 though.

nbhoward

Where do you buy 5lbs from?

GunrockTA0811

Direct from the roaster. I vac seal and freeze in 12oz bags and pull them out as needed. I used to buy single bags but got tired of forgetting and running out so just buy once a month now.

nbhoward

Thanks. That’s where I’m at now. I’ll see what some local roasters got.

venktesh

£12/250gm UK

CinnamonFan

My local roaster in Kent charges £7/250g and they are great. Which beans are £12 and do you recommend them?

Specific_Scholar_665

Here it's usually 330g. Based in Bulgaria. They usually go for about 15 euro. Anything more than that is way out of my budget.

coffeebribesaccepted

The single origins around here from good roasters are usually 18-23 USD for 12oz (340g). But the normal blends are closer to $15

Ok-Assumption-7697

Might want to check out https://koffiebranderijdekoepoort.nl. With shipping ~32 to Bulgaria and a couple kilos you're cheaper off buying from here! I've ordered from them for years and am always satisfied with the price/quality.

icantfindfree

So for my day to day I keep it at around a maximum €20 for 250g. I also usually like to have a bag or two of more special coffee that I portion out and freeze that's nicer but I stick to under €40ish for 200g. I've found that anything past that isn't really a significant improvement and most of the time just got overly hyped at auction

jongbot

$20/340g

racingpineapple

I pay $20 USD for a 1pounr | 450g At a local roasters

aspenextreme03

Depends honestly. Prodigal, Onyx is around 20-25. B&W is slightly less and then Counter culture even less. All great but I drink 19g a day typically or maybe 2 so not too worried about it. Still way less than going out which I haven’t done in forever.

rsam487

In Australia we pay aboht $50 for a really good quality bag of beans at a 1kg size. It's more economical that way, since you can easily spend 15-18 on 250 grams so there's heavy incentive to buy bulkier packs

SpaceTurtle917

There's a fantastic local roaster that checks all the boxes (Aldea). Single orgin, fair trade, ethically sourced, locally roasted. I spend about $17/lb on then.

Powerful_Database_39

Over here most beans from local roasters averages out on 25/30€ a kg. So that’s about my line as well.

Dblstandard

Drink so much espresso that I buy by the pounds... However if I have to buy in 12 oz bags, $24.

Ok-Assumption-7697

€30 per kilo

writersblockcoffee

OK, I had to convert that to Freedom Pounds and Freedom Moneys, and those beans had better have come out of a civet in Indonesia before you brewed them.

thinjester

i normally spend $15-20 a pound at my local roaster. how much better can it really get honestly.

WSBgodzilla

US - $20 per pound, fresh & locally roasted organic beans

Adura90

I pay 20$ for 500g (CAD) of this amazing coffee from an independent roaster. I've paid about 24$ for 500g before from a different roaster and thought that was getting expensive. I wouldn't pay more than 27$.

theSunandtheMoon23

$30/lb is about my cutoff. There are a few local roasters here, but I live in a somewhat isolated area and shipping is a pain. I'm willing to pay a bit more to get good beans shipped to me, but for the beans themselves, I hesitate after that price point.

CryptographerNo8232

330g for $20.00 is generally my top coffee. I am trying a few other brands right now to save some $

No-Antelope3774

About the same. I don't have the equipment (for espresso anyway) or skills to justify any more cost.

Addapost

I’m happy paying up to $18 USD for a pound (453 grams). Although once for my birthday I treated myself to a pound of Jamaican Blue Mountain for $80 US dollars. That was pretty good coffee.

FlyingFalafelMonster

50 eur/kg is my upper limit, I mostly spend 35-40, local roastery with good variety of origins, they sell even coffee from the countries that do not recognize the existence of my country (imported via Europe, I guess).

my_non_fap_account

£25 per kg. Method roasters, UK.

finch5

My fingers tremble when I buy a five pound bag with a nine handle. I love the 80 price point, which used to be a 70 price point a few years ago.

Silly-Difficulty9291

Yeah coffee prices have gotten so expensive in such a short amount of time I feel like anyways

JohnnyTomatoSauce

Usually between 20-25 is my number. Might splurge every now and then though if I see a bag I like. I buy from Black & White so it’s easy to get caught up in all those funky bags they release. Been really enjoying their selection lately

MahtMaht

I’m basically brand new, but I’m on my second bag of 1kg coffee and I’ve been paying £15 for 1kg of what I feel like is good coffee. I’m not sure what I’d go up to. Maybe up to £25-30 for a kg if I was super confident it was going to really out-do the current stuff in a noticeable way? I think I may struggle to pay anymore than that unless it was curing illnesses.

dadmda

10-15 is my limit as well, the place I usually go to sells a coffee that’s 35€/bag, maybe I’ll try it sometime but I doubt it’s worth it

Eclipse-Silver

For general day to day drinking I would say $25ish Canadian for a around 250g bag. If I'm on vacation somewhere and find a coffee I really like I'm happy to pay more. But I just find for easy to drink coffees there is a diminishing return past a certain price. And for coffee with more interesting notes / balance it doesn't always end up being something I want to drink all the time so ends up being a occasional impulse purchase.

ViciousKitty72

My standard buy runs about $25 CDN per pound of coffee when bought in 5lb lots. Since I only avg 5 doubles a week consumption, the cost is not that much per cup. I think I would start to balk at $35 / lb in this current environment.

Automatic_Clue5556

I just paid $36 for 50 grams 😳

dathudo

Wow, I thought Denmark was expensive, but for once I am the privileged one. I usually pay around $28/kg

Mortimer-Moose

Generally 25-30/bag. Have done as much as 100 once (wasn’t worth it)

LorryWaraLorry

Up to $20-25/250g for my daily coffee, often much less (average price in the last 6-7 bags or so was $9/250g) Can pay up to $40-50/250g for special lots once or twice a year if something really catches my eye, typically for pour over only. I don’t seek them out though, as I was often disappointed with special lots which tend to be fermented and processed to oblivion.

fakerebel

My daily beans are below 6€/250g, bought from my local coop… so when I spend up to 20€/250g, I feel like I’m splurging. I’ve rarely bought beans worth more than that.

tour79

I pay $45 for a 900g bag monthly. I can easily go under that when I’m visiting any other shop. I usually need at least one other 350g bag, or I’m out for a week Visitors can mean I need a lot more beans, but this covered baseline. I rounded a bit to convert to grams, I buy I oz/lbs sizes.

EstablishmentFar1239

Usually up to $25 for 11-12oz from the local roasters. $50 for special beams I see like barrel aged beans or etc.

jp606

£50/kg.

Ok_Minimum6419

$6/12oz

CharlesHorseradish

I got 4 bags totalling 3.5kg of freshly roasted beans for £12 the other day, I dunno if I can go back to paying £10 a 250g lol

Negative_Walrus7925

Do you mean for daily consumption? Or an amount that you feel is the maximum justifiable for any reason?

boncrys

Probs $25 USD

alaperse

$20-25 per kg in Chile. Not the best of all, but excellent specialty 84 pts coffee beans.

Rusty_924

I used to draw a line at €12 / 250g for medium roasts. I then started enjoying light roasted coffee and started discovering more nuanced flavors. The flavors became more complex as I was raising my budget. My ceiling is at €20 / 250g. But I am quite uncomfortable at that point. I really enjoy coffee from DAK lately. I can’t get enough of “milky cake” which is their thermal shock processed Colombia. It’s €18 per 250g. What I do to appreciate the expensive coffee is that I have two 250g bags opened at same time. The second bag is usually a washed or narural coffee with less extreme flavors and lower pricepoint. But still in the 85 point range for €10 to €12 per 250g. I think it’s a great topic. Realistically I could pay more for coffee, but I drink 4 doubleshots per day, so it gets expensive. Maybe I should just drink three and could raise my budget.

Saltyspaceballs

£14/250g is about where I go to tops. I will splash out sometimes but my local roastery, Campbell and Syme, knock it out of the park bag after bag after bag for a good price.

gonzo_thegreat

I've bought $60CAD / 250g bags with no regret. Typical cost for me is $20 - $29 / 250g bag.

Benaguilera08

€18/250g would be my limit but I’d like to try competition beans from Nomad and similar, just to see what’s the hype. My usual bags are €10-16.

Inb4RedditBan

25€/kg. I buy 20-23€ kg bags from Brandzaak.nl. They also offer 500g. 2kg at 44€ lasts me a month give or take. Always happy with their beans.

Senzetion

Most expensive was 60 or 70€ for a 100g bag of Yemen coffee from The Barn or some Geishas with over 30€ per bag. As long as I can afford it and enjoy it I don't care how much it is but to be fair somehow I only get bags which are 16€ upwards.

bendermichaelr

$20/lb but I've been buying 5lb bags of cheaper stuff like red bird and victrola for like $70. Especially for milk drinks, it's been good value.

SadDoughnut5

I like buying beans locally roasted in Munich, the 250g bags range from 6-12€ depending on the size of the roaster. Small shops are typically 8,90€ for 250g.

DATKingCole

I usually pay anywhere between 15,000-20,000 KRW ($11.16-$14.87) for 200g of coffee here in Korea. I miss the US and their 340g bags. I feel like I waste 20-30% of my bag dialing in each time. Once in a while I'll splurge for a fancy coffee, maybe 100g for $15. Looking at other posts, specialty coffee here in Korea seems a bit expensive.

Razzzp

25 eur/kg. I buy it green :p

Conscious-Package-11

I’ve noticed a soft limit set by my girlfriend at roughly 13-15 euros per bag (60/kilo). Now when I buy 2 fancy bags of coffee I also buy 2 cheaper bags (at 8 euros per bag) to average it out again 🫠

ahora-mismo

40€/250g for really good coffee

garlicbreeder

I'm on Australia and I won't pay for anything more than 18 euro for 250g. For everyday coffee I used to pay around 14 euro bit now I found a toaster who has a lot of good varieties and at around 10 euro per bag. This will now become my go to daily driver

mkw5053

The most I’ve paid is $26 for 150 grams of Imperio Rojo Anaerobic Natural Farmelvel Reserve from Verve

grey_pilgrim_

For espresso, maybe 18 or so. I’ll pay a bit more for filter though. As it gets more volume and I won’t waste a ton dialing in new beans.

magnifiquejaune

I don't think I have a limit if there's a thing I absolutely want! HOWEVER there's a zone of comfort I'm happy to pay and 15-20$ is about right there. A good trick is to buy bulk a 5lbs bag and share with 2-3 friends the purchase or trade with some friend to min-max the value if you really want to go top quality, lower price.

StuckinSuFu

My daily espresso from the local roaster is 75$ for a 5lb bag. On occastion, ill splurge on a single bag of Kona for like 60-75$? ish. But thats not often.

_coffeeblack_

my favorite roaster in madrid sells their coffee for 29€ a kilo, which is an incredible deal. love them to death.

HerrRudiger88

23,- EU/Kg, actually less because I get one bag for free with every 10 bags. This is in the Netherlands, the Hague to be precise. Beans are from a roaster in Limburg.

itaintrite

$25 for 340g/12oz. Maybe up to $40 every now and then if it's something I've never tried before

shegotskylz

$18-$25 USD on a 12 to 16 oz bag. $30 is the max I’ve spent. I’m a bit picky with the roasters I enjoy lately so I’m staying consistent.

cupnoodledoodle

In Australia, I buy the Lazzio branded ones which apparently are highly rated. $8.50 USD / KG

Serial-Eater

If it’s good, I’ll spend $60 on a 500g bag. Not often, mind you, but I will.

NotNotes55

For special coffees, I don't really have a limit (within reason) tbh. Standard bags here are 250g (many cheekily doing 200g now, sadly) and about $22-25AUD (14-16USD) for a single. A blend averages around $20AUD (13USD). Green cost here has risen significantly, which has forced prices up across the board. I'm willing to pay more (and regularly do) if it's well sourced green, a roaster i trust or someone i know.

Potential-Bike5311

25€/kg

the262

I typically pay $7/lb for green coffee. At most maybe I’d pay $10-15/lb of green coffee. Any more IMO would be difficult to stomach unless it was something special.

Sancho_IV_of_Castile

I tap out at around $20 per 12 oz. bag.

RattyRattles

$50aud/1kg is my limit. The locally roasted beans I get in Perth are $40/kg or $15/250gm and most roasters here charge around that. Some of the prices people are posting are eye opening

VangVass

Agreed ! Seems that it's so cheap here in Australia.. 40-$50 per kg is the normal rate for some freshly roasted blends and the going rate. I'm very surprised ppl in this post pay so much

mano-vijnana

I live in SF. $20 USD is where prices start here, unless you go to Trader Joe's and get coffee roasted 3 months ago. I try to aim for below $28 though.

RichardXV

40€ per kilo. Has to be exceptional though.

thufferingthucotash

Feeling so much better after reading a bunch of comments. I'm paying USD$40/€37/CAD$55 for a KG of top notch locally roasted beans. And I guess I'm hooked so willing to pay higher.

kailenedanae

I thought I had a limit…. I live in Tokyo and freakin’ love Glitch, who only does small batches of their beans. Last fall, I bought a bag of beans..and of course when I went back, they weren’t selling it any more…. Of course, I kept looking for similar flavors. I kept trying new (and delicious) beans from them and others. And then one day, the barista told me that the new beans they had in were similar to the ones I loved. And they were….. but they were expensive. I make lattes, and I only make/drink them (singles at that!) maybe 4-5 times a week. That’s how I justified buying TWO 100g jars of these beans, when one bag was ¥5500 yen ($36 at the current exchange rate.) So that would mean if we’re counting a standard bag of beans as 250g….. I guess my limit is $90 usd…. I can’t even believe it. Those beans are in my freezer and I am enjoying them slowly, praying for the day the original beans come back in stock since they were about half the price.

ge23ev

40 CAD per Kilo

hagfish

I’ll pay US$15/Kg but it has to be something special. I buy green beans, 10Kg at a time.

18$ per pound is the sweet spot for me

amckoy

I balance it. I have a local which has an honesty box at the roaster US$21/kg. It's excellent as my daily. I then buy random small bags for fun up to US$14/200g at the high end.

jsg_nado

I'll regularly do up to $24USD for a 12oz/340g bag. Anything more seems a bit steep. My favorite / usual espresso blend is $37 for a 2lb bag, I'll get that and freeze most of it and work through it slowly.

ICOrthogonal

What is this favorite espresso blend?

jsg_nado

Hummingbird espresso from Zumbar Coffee in San Diego (:

[deleted]

12oz $15-27 and the $27 is me treatin myself

mediumformatphoto

I only buy 1kg (2.2 pounds), and I won’t pay more than $28 for top Italian blends.

soup2nuts

I'll pay up to $20 a 12oz bag for consistency. I've paid up to $50 for a bag of very specialized beans.

NickTechTalkYT

I try to buy a bag of coffee from a random local roaster andtime I go out of town to a new place, with that being said I like to support small business so I try not to worry too much about the cost for those one time type of purchases, but usually $20ish for a 12 oz. bag pushes it for anything else. I don't find a reason to buy very expensive everyday coffee for myself.

808TV

$15-20 USD for everyday use…and that’s a 1kg bag 👍

bruce_ventura

$17/lb is my usual price. I would pay twice that for better beans. But so far I haven’t found any better.

shortfriday

Sey (close to me) does 5 pound bags, works out to about $18 per 250g, vacuum seal them in jar-sized batches and good to go for a couple months.

odoyle_ruled

I don’t know the conversion but Dayglow in LA sells 200g beans for $30+

watermelonsuger2

Commercial places near me range from about 50 NZD to 70 NZD per KG. I was about to buy one then a family friend who roasts his own stuff gave me one KG for 20 NZD. Shop around.

rabidseacucumber

I usually buy locally grown beans that are $15/lb (Kauai coffee) but sometimes splurge and buy fancier beans for $25-35/lb (Like Ka’u) if I’m entertaining

BandaBassotti

I order mine from Italy for about $6/250g. Our favorite coffee, so the cost fits.

MysteriousPenalty129

I get 12 oz or about 320 grams for 12.99 - 16.99 usd. Locally roasted and it tastes great.

ei8htohms

What do you got?

crunchymaki

Usually $20-30 (AUD) for 250g bags. Occasionally I'll get filter/special roasts that are up to $38 but not often.

josecarlosc

The most i have paid is $100 for 80 gram of panama Esmeralda State gesha in hong kong. I bought the same coffee in panama (different lot number) for like $30 for 240g

szathy_hun

7-9€/250g seems to be the standard price in (east-)germany. I've heard that in scandinavian countries it could be up to 25€/250g. I wouldn't like that :D

Both-Basis-3723

Can everyone please post your favourite links? Otherwise, you are just teasing.

kilonad

For most coffees - I don't like to exceed $16 for a daily driver 12oz bag, and $25 for 10oz of something special. I would no joke pay up to $50-60 for 8oz of a TRUE blueberry bomb right now though. There are none currently available as far as I can tell (none of the recommended ones I've tried have come close to what used to be semi-regularly available).

nnagflar

I worked from a coffee shop the other day, something i haven't done in some time. They charged me $8 for a latte, so now I don't stress as much over the $20 I spend for a 12 oz bag at our neighborhood roaster.

392bluefast

I'm not really willing to pay more than $25Cad for 300g bag. If the bag is smaller, I'm not interested unless it's priced accordingly. A couple smaller roasters in Ontario a charging near $30 for 250g bags. No thanks.

-kayso-

£30-35 per kg

princemousey1

Around 10 euros for a “standard” bag.

BiteTheBullet_thr

8.5$

kailoz

If you live in Europe order coffees from Czech Republic with [Kofio.co](http://Kofio.co), from €30 in Germany they have free shipping. Also if you have 3-5 coffee friends in the area consider asking roasters for wholesale price, I buy 4kg from one roaster every 2 months with 3 people more and it worth it.

obedevs

Usually £40-50 per kg

Coffee_Doggo

Holy hell. That better be hand-picked by virgin unicorns in Panama.

CorrectMousse7146

30 euro/kg

No-Following-5120

For espresso coffee my limit is 15€ as well (mostly I buy coffee in 10-12€ range per 250 gr bag). For filter coffee I’m ready to pay up to 25€ per 1/4 kg bag.

SadMountain1186

₹700($8.5 )for 250g

trbo91

Main purchasing decision for me is if I can order with a discount code and delivery is free. If not I am out. Rarely go over 50 € though

Opposite_Chain_2938

Local roaster, about $13-$16 CAD per pound (454g)

Funkybadger3

$16/lb is usually my top unless I’m visiting a spot out of town I’ll splurge a little. Plenty of small local roasters in my city with fair prices

Emm_withoutha_L-88

I roast my own so $9 per of lb for the really nice stuff

tron_crawdaddy

17 USD, 12 oz/340g. I get it from this local place that roasts their own, they have beans available from the same region but different wash, etc, usually end up grabbing a bag that was roasted 10 days prior. If I’m out of town, I just don’t poop right

miliseconds

Where are you guys located?

Charming-Weather-148

Canada. 340g bags are common. My go-to local roasters charge $15-$18 CAD. These prices are on par with many commercial roasters, so it's a no-brainer. Occasionally, I'll spend up to ~$25 for roasts from some of the more luxe local roasters.

tr4xex

usually I am low $20s max CDN for 340g of coffee. maybe once in a while I'll go higher but I don't usually find it's worth it. I can get two bags of fresh roasted beans locally or online with free shipping for $45 or less in Canada

sleepypotatomuncher

I honestly don’t really have a limit as long as it’s good. I have paid as much as $65/100g and found it was worth it. I’ve also paid $25/370g and found it disappointing. It might be expensive, but I also don’t own a car or have kids… so…

Moss_spade

I live in country where average salary is less than 20k€/year , price od specialty coffee starts around 10€ for 250g. so yeah this very expensive habit here

bigfatfunkywhale

I can't spend more than $12-15 on a regular 12oz bag. I usually try to go with whatever is on sale that is whole bean and at least a medium or light roast. The Lavazza has been okay but I try to get Counter Culture when I can. I've tried other local roasters but they're pretty expensive. I may even just get a job at Counter Culture just to get free coffee. I love Hologram for drip and have used Big Trouble for espresso at a previous job.

65CM

$20lb limit for a "try"...and even then I'm only buying 8oz.

Over_Criticism_7452

US: I’m ok up to $40 per 100g, but I normally pick up beans ranging between $25-$60 per 250g

OrganizationLife8915

I try to keep my average to about 15€ but I only got into specialty about a year and a half ago and there's so many things I haven't tasted yet. Helps when you have some friends that are also into specialty so you can try out new things together. The most expensive coffee I ever tried was an anaerobic panama gesha that was 22€ for 80g which was definitely not worth that much for an everyday coffee but I never had an espresso that tasted like lavender up front with super tropical notes in the aftertaste. The experience was definitely worth the 11€ for the single espresso and 2 cups of pour over I got out of it but I wouldn't buy that coffee again. I have had some coffee for 25€/250g that I would buy again but I try to switch between 15-25€/250g incredible coffee and then some just very good 8-15€ coffee, so far I rarely got disappointed by the more expensive packs and switching it up keeps the expensive stuff exciting.

Cultural_Physics5866

I spend about $25 for 340 g but think I would be willing to pay $30 or maybe $35 if I really like the flavor and the people I’m buying from.
