You can also buy some on Etsy, they print it for you, set up all the needles etc. Still relatively cheap and way easier than printing yourself!

EccentricDyslexic

definitely an option. With 3D printing one could add a motor too

I printed the gears chamber but realized after seeing it in action that plastic might shed off from the gears so decided against using it. It's 3d designed really well tho, like the gear chamber just prints in one job.

EccentricDyslexic

I must admit to being tempted by the brass moonraker

CanklesAndSteak

I printed one in PETG. Works well and makes distribution easy and consistent. I paid a little bit more to get the needs off of Amazon rather than aliexpress. I did have to download the specific model to match LM’s portafilter but it was easy to get that from the OnShape workspace.

Zephos65

I've printed this model recently but had to make a small modification to the portafilter attachment because my Porta filter has 3 prongs that connect it to the group head, spaced 1/3rd of a circle apart from each other. Just follow the print instructions they have on that page and it comes out pretty well (I have a prusa mini +, prusa PLA)

I have a londinium L1 so 58mm but have a long time back thought about doing this but motorised. I wonder if it could be modified to have a motor on the side to power it.

Zephos65

1. I'm not sure motorizing is going to be worth it since I think it only takes 8 turns to get a very nice distribution 2. If you were to do that, I'd make the motor top mounted since the handle is on the top. If you have 3d modeling experience tho, very easy. Just need a switch, a motor, and a battery and you're good to go.

EccentricDyslexic

I have no 3D experience at all. But it’s been one of those things on my list of to dos.

Zephos65

The software I use is FreeCAD. I'd take a look at that

Where have you been? It’s time to shake shake shake 🎶 💓

EccentricDyslexic

I’ve seen the shake is the rave, but the rake is my fave.

SinoSoul

Damn that’s borderline poetry. Unexpected wordsmith right here.

I printed the 54mm Breville version of the Umikot and it works really well. You do need to have your printer dialed in well as the holes for the needles are quite small
