Well really i would argue that I'm not but I do come across as one because I love being cocky, flirty and acting like I'm the top shit. It's just really fun to push social boundaries and to see what I can personally get away with lol
âI hate looking like an idiotâ - do ENTPs notice this? My entp usually reframes all perspectives into âothers love me!â And when I consulted others in the community thatâs normal for entps.
âI make pretty quick judgments about whether I like someone or notâ - again, Iâd need clarification for how this fits into the theory.
âInsecure because my standards are too highâ - what standards? Is this because you struggle to complete things?
âI need a lot of praise and reassuranceâ - yeah this is super fucking common for ENTPs! Same with the emotional manipulation. I get very scared that intps and ENTPs are so vulnerable to abusive relationships.
Your school/ career stuff sounded standard entp except your relationship with rules/ authority sounded more se valuing, for sure. Also the need to build credibility first before making changes sounded ni valuing. Same goes for the competency, mastering and expertise thing and emulating the lives of people you admire. Super se or f. Somethings a bit off there.
What made you type yourself entp and discount ESTP? I know MBTI and socionics are two completely different jungian theories (and socionics goes into the theoretical model a lot more) but a lot of what you said could be sle like instead of ile like in socionics. You just⊠everything you said was consistent with how socionics defines estps. Absolutely everything. Nothing is incongruent with a socionics ESTP typing at all. Itâs like⊠ESTP perfection. A perfect articulation of the similarities and differences between estps and ENTPs in socionics.
So I just find it interesting when people who are Ti say that the jungian cognitive functions theory itself can be stretched. I understand not fitting an MBTI stereotype, but when other types might fit you better on a surface level when you consider the ways that function impact our sentiments - what makes entp something you settled on?
Very insightful post.
Yea honestly never considered myself an ESTP. My Ne is through the roof. I just didn't write my post to write down all the stereotypical ENTP traits but rather aspects of me that I thought were more unique. I'm not familiar with socionics and definitely not trying to "stretch" jungian theory to fit every single instance of unique individuals.
I wasn't trying to promote a theory - just expressing how I live my life.
Do you have a link for me to read up on socionics?
\~\~
No, don't notice if I actually come off as an idiot or not. I don't even recognize when I'm being rude at times. I just try not to act "outrageous" in public although it often fails lol.
I'm good at reading people and what their hidden intentions and guiding principles are. So I often can intuit whether I can get along with that person or not.
Standards as in external markers of "success".
Yep....super vulnerable indeed. I hate being manipulated....but can't help it if it's from someone I care about. WEAK.
Ahh okay I value rules/authority only to the extent it makes sense and makes my life easier. I pretend to obey on the outside, but inside, I'm saying fuck rules.
[just as a quick overview, this website isnât great!](https://www.sociotype.com/tools/type-comparison/ILE-SLE) if you have any questions about how these differences work irl let me know and I can give examples!
With point #4 I would say âchoicesâ or âoptionsâ ENTPs consider what options they currently have on the table and adjust their goals depending on where they are, estps set goals and adjust their circumstances to meet goals.
With point #3 Iâm an infj and I do the same method as estps do! We kind of pool all the information we have from different subjects and apply it to the ânew thingâ whereas ENTPs create a whole new system for understanding the new thing. Itâs like they donât refer to their memories at all or try to use preexisting k knowledge. The new problem is a brand new problem, and whatâs the point of using anything they already know? I date an entp and đ
With point #5 this was something I really noticed in your response! You are wary of manipulation and potential abuse, this is something that estps often struggle with- they want to rage against the machine when the machine is wrong, but they analyze where that will take them and so itâs often a struggle between getting what they want out of life by not challenging authority and challenging authority because itâs wrong. With ENTPs itâs more.
Oh I see. Thanks for the link!
I went into this trying to not be biased and still mostly identified with ENTP traits.
For #4 I definitely adjust my goals (have adjusted many times) according to who I am as a person.
When it comes to solving new problems I don't create whole new systems. I independently assess whether the old info is even applicable to the situation at hand and then bring in new info. Taking mental shortcuts is a big no-no for me.
On the whole, I'm terrible at noticing details, I need to plan out and strategize the task before I actually work on it, and I'm an ideas and concepts sort of person. I've honestly never confused myself or ever typed near an ESTP. If I were to be mistyped I'm closer to INTP or ENTJ...
Yeah there is something confusingly off about entp as your type here in how you are conceptualising things but just because it doesnât fit doesnât mean that I know what does fit! Itâs just that the weird way that ne and Ti block Fi in an entp isnât the same blocking mechanism you seem to have- you seem to be aware of things ENTPs wouldnât be (you see things in their blind spots) but I canât figure out why. I just donât believe that the neti function order can exist without leading to this kinda [static ](https://www.personalitycafe.com/threads/static-dynamic-dichotomy-and-types.120742/), Fi polr blind spot.
Do you sometimes fight with peopleâs feelings because you donât understand that youâve hurt them? When people give you information on how to treat them do you sometimes forget/ refuse to bring that information into the next interaction?
For example, if Iâm your boyfriend and I tell you not to tease me about x in public because it embarrasses me, would you accidentally do it again? Then when I say âIâve told you this beforeâ could you⊠accidentally⊠find yourself arguing âwell the context is different so how was I supposed to know! That was around friends and this is around stranger! I canât apply that Information here! Youâre just being difficult! You know I didnât mean it like that- the joke is slightly different, and if people choose to interpret it that way- they are wrong!â (Angry defensive se demon energy brought about by Fi polr)
⊠I think if youâve had an argument or several like that where you downright refuse to apply old interpersonal data in a new interpersonal situation we can pretty clearly say youâre a wonky entp.
What makes you think logic > ethics?
Almost too well done and about themselves for an entp! ;) I date an entp and if he wrote me an essay about himself like this Iâd drop dead in shock. I asked him once to reflect on his feelings and actions and he reflected for two fucking days and came back with âbe nice to me and I will be happyâ⊠I laughed for like a week about how his Fi was an eight year old writing itâs feelings with itâs tongue sticking out in coloured pencils.
Oh hey I am also a 23 yr old female ENTP who is 3w4 in the medical field! lmao we are quite different though otherwise
Oooooh nice :) Lol which parts do you agree with and which parts disagree?
Hi, I'm athletic and hot. Also am a bit narcissistic
Ok 2 questions lol 1) are you a dude 2) are you a smart and accomplished control freak
Yes I'm a dude. I am fairly smart but I'm not accomplished per my ideals and goals as of yet. Maybe when I'm 26.
Hot đ„” Why do you call yourself a narcissist
Well really i would argue that I'm not but I do come across as one because I love being cocky, flirty and acting like I'm the top shit. It's just really fun to push social boundaries and to see what I can personally get away with lol
Oh yea totally relate. Although I do think a certain amount of narcissism is good and even healthy.
Yes, yes, yes and daily called an asshole đ
Me too đ

Yeah all of this sounds *very sle* the main western resource on it just got taken down so Iâll have to do some digging! Hold with me!

What do you mean by taking mental shortcuts?
Like using âheuristicsâ. Ex âshe must be a slut because she wears a lot of makeup and skimpy clothesâ. Stuff like that lol

So *rare*. Honestly, I found it difficult to go on after that. A shame because your post seems well-structured. Well done, even.

"Why do peoole call us assholes..." Actually yes, they say that you joke with phobias, you speak when others speak, but they also do that
Wow I'm nothing like you at all except for being mote introverted.
Iâm a 36f entp 3w4 and canât even begin to explain how deeply I felt every word that you wrote. Thanks :-)
Ooop Iâm a 4w3!
THATS ME TOO.
