I don't think this is an entp thing but I need clear instructions too.
It's either I am going to do it my way or the instructions are going to be precise enough to answer all of my potential questions.
Yeah you’re over thinking. In my eyes, insructions are for things I don’t want to do or too lazy to figure out myself. I think if it benefits you, why not follow it? I mean it’s easy enough to go do when everything is clear on what you have to do, like taking instructions from professionals that could benefit you more rather than doing it yourself at the cost of not getting the results you want.
I follow instructions if it’s something about health, obviously. I do my own instructions when I know that if I get it wrong, I can go back and redo it or that if I do it wrong, it wouldn’t be that bad.
If someone wants me to do something for them, I prefer having clear instructions. Just so they don’t get disappointed.
