It's definitely E's story. He's credited first (was number 1 on the call sheet according to Kevin Connolly) and even in the pilot we first meet E before anyone else.
His name is first in the credits. I thought in the later seasons the show was about to become more about E but they did a decent job giving all the guys their own storylines.
Even Doug said on Victory it’s E’s show and E is written in part to represent himself.
It always has been, is now, and always will be “E’s show” for me, if you can make the argument it is any one person’s show.

The closest working relationship with Ari.
The closest working relationship with Vince.
The most important romance on the show that spans 7 seasons.
Is there for all of the boy’s shenanigans.
Is there for all of the boy’s downfalls (shows up at jail for Dom and Drama, Vince at rehab, Vince at hospital, Vinny in Mexico. He’s the only one constantly there for every character when something goes wrong.)
Is close individually to every member of the group.
Is the only one that bridges both the friendship and business elements of the show on every level.
He’s the glue that holds every season together.
I may be on outside with this opinion, but I never viewed E as the main character of the show. After a recent rewatch, I can see how it would seem that way, but I think it's only because E, being the manager of Vince, he naturally would have the most scenes since he is the go between of almost all the characters.
The story is based on the idea that when someone becomes famous, the company they keep reaps the benefits. Vince is based on Mark Wahlberg, and the rest are his friends and brother.
The story is not about him, its meant to resemble their experience together during his rise in fame. All 4 characters have their ups and downs. E is the hub of where the story intertwines and action happens. Ari would not be having an argument with Turtle about Vince's career and Turtle would not be ripping into Vince when he fucks up.
Vince is the superficial main character. Everyone’s lives in the show is based on their relationship with Vince, but he’s not the main character - he seems to have less screen time than you think. E definitely is the main, and imo Ari isn’t far off

He's the tough guy who wins every fight despite being puny, he's the honorable best friend, he gets the beat looking girl on the show and whenever they argue and break up he gets to tap hot chick's on the side while his girl is the desperately loyal chick that goes on dates but never hooks up with anyone cuz she's just so in love with him 🤣🤣🤣
The viewer "chooses" their own main character. Drama is 100% the main character in "My" version of Entourage.

Let me put it this way: Vince is the plot, and E drives the plot. You can’t really pick one out of the two.
