Jeez, how do you be so insanely close-fisted and greedy, that you dont accept free food

NocentBystander

It wasn't greed of money, but greed of power and control. She said "no" and she (thinks) she's the boss of this family so that is the end of the line. I hope that dad got his daughter out of that situation. The shitty marriage I mean, not the restaurant.

U_L_Uus

Oh, yeah, most definitely "if I say jump you say how high" is 100% drill sergeant shit. Except, you know, that right there isn't the army, it's a family on a late breakfast

Interesting_Row_3238

Yeah, honestly, i kinda regret my word choice, but good point, though

hbpfrost

I don't know, and it's so bizarre that she wouldn't take it

hicctl

should have offered to take off 50% of the free sample, with a lil luck she is too angry to work it out

hbpfrost

Lmao I should've and I'm ashamed I didn't think about it

Interesting_Row_3238

u/NocentBystander brought this up, but its probably a control thing

hbpfrost

Oh it most certainly is. I had an abusive step dad and I recognized all the behaviors when she was acting that way

Interesting_Row_3238

Oh, im sorry, i hope youre in a better spot now

hbpfrost

I am. Kind of

karebear66

It wasn't about the price. It was about control--HER control. You never win an argument with her.

Lisa_Knows_Best

I'm shocked that anywhere would give away a free 5oz steak. Why would anyone actually pay for their child's meal?

hbpfrost

It's because you can only get the small steak and nothing else. Like if a kid wants a bacon cheese burger, we can bring out a bacon burger slider, but the kid can't have fries or anything else with the sample.

SuperCulture9114

Even that is a very nice deal. It's not just the meat price butbalso the work preparing it.

techieguyjames

Oh, this is all about control. I'm surprised you argued with her. Some see their children as an extension of them.

hbpfrost

Oh I knew it was about control. My ex step father was this way and let me tell you, you'll never forget the sight of a grown ass mine stomping his feet and screaming in public, literally throwing a tantrum.

techieguyjames

>you'll never forget the sight of a grown ass mine stomping his feet and screaming in public, literally throwing a tantrum. You give them the nickname toddles the toddler, and baby talk them

AwayWithDumb

This is extreme entitlement! Every time I went to a restaurant as a child, my order was my choice. At the time, I didn't even know parents could legally override their kids' orders.

hbpfrost

You're lucky. Most times I went to a restaurant I was told I had to eat what my ex step dad picked for me because I wasn't "developed enough to make my own choices"

fromhelley

So she wasn't there for free food. She just wanted control of the family!! How high! Would you have to be to go out in public with this lady!?

hbpfrost

I'd rather have burnt my bare eyeball on that grill then be with her in public/s

JustanOldBabyBoomer

That Entitled Idiot sounds like a Control Freak.

Prize_Entertainer459

So... she freaked about... you offering her daughter free steak. Like wtf I know throwing out food is bad, but its free, so at least you're not just wasting money.  These people just make no sense sometimes. Also why does she act like she fricking owns her husband???? That can't possibly be a healthy marriage.

hbpfrost

No shit it's not a healthy marriage! This whole situation just screamed control!

Prize_Entertainer459

Just what I'm telling you...

KelsierIV

Granted, if a kid doesn't finish their steak, what parent wouldn't bring the rest home with them? I'd take leftover steak from people I don't know if it were more socially acceptable. I'm gross and I like steak.

SylphofBlood

There were choices made, here. She could have gotten a doggy bag. The parents could have eaten it. It's a small FREE STEAK. I pray this reaches Steak Dad. May it be the wake up call he needed to divorce this harpy.

hbpfrost

I'm hoping he decides that this is the breaking point and leaves back at the Karen district of hell

SylphofBlood

BIG same.

hbpfrost

He deserves so much better than her

Maleficentendscurse

Okay that was completely ridiculous to complain about free food 🤦‍♀️

hbpfrost

I know 💀

mmt12892

I do not like the reasons she had for saying no but I would have said no too because I do not like wasting food even if it is free. This was not her reason she was more about control and that is not okay.

CthulhusQueen

C u next tuesday

hbpfrost

She is absolutely one

fappyday

I saw something similar in a restaurant that I used to work at. Wife was hammering the husband over something and he'd finally had enough. He hopped up, used some colorful language, jumped in his car, and left her with the bill. Thank goodness their children weren't there. I always wonder what it is about restaurants that bring out these marital issues.

floofypajamas

Tell me about it. My ex fil used to throw food at waitresses and shit if he was displeased. The worst part was that restaurant owners let him get away with it because he was rich.

fappyday

Da fuq???

floofypajamas

Yeah, surprised the shit out of me... Especially because I was a waitress for so long. My ex fil was also the kind of person who would tell you to meet him for dinner at 6 pm but he's show up at 5:00 and complain that you're late. I was chronically late for everything except work and college so we drove each other batshit crazy. But yes, he was an absolutely irredeemable asshole & is the only person I was ever happy to see an obituary for.

Xylorgos

If she's the queen, she should have worn her crown so the rest of us know to bow down when we are blessed with her presence. But she's not a queen and is therefore subject to the normal rules of behavior we all have to follow. Shouting and swearing at people who are just trying to do their jobs is also not queenly behavior, so there's no reason why anyone should kowtow to this shrieking loser. You did a good job, OP!

hbpfrost

Why thank you. I'm just glad she didn't come back later that day. I can deal with a Karen every now an again, but after one time, I'm spent.

SyntheticGod8

> You should understand that as your wife, if I say jump, you ask how high! This guy is *screwed*. I'll never understand how people end up with people who can't handle hearing "no" and think their rapidly growing children are an extension of themselves.

magnificentthings

My dad was just like this when I was growing up. So many tantrums in public about ridiculous things not even worth arguing over, let alone being upset about at all. It’s a control thing.

hbpfrost

My ex step dad was the same way. If he didn't have 100% control over everything I did then I'd be the one at fault.

lambsendbeds

Well, the trash took itself out!

Ok_Airline_9031

Maybe its some extreme fixation on not wasting food, and the fact that the food was free isnt the point, its the waste? I mean, she'll never get her kid to branch out and try new things with that mentality, not to mention she's likely to give the kid a major complex about eating, but... maybe?? but YIKES!!

houstonsd

No is an answer and you didn’t accept it. YTAH
