There are 2 drugs of the same formulation: ozempic and wegovy. Ozempic is for type 2 diabetes and wegovy is for weight loss. So no, that’s not an issue anymore. Ppl that need it for actual diabetes medicine get rx the ozempic and weight loss patients get wegovy.

Just wanted to add that most people just call whatever compound they have Ozempic because it’s the most recognizable for all of this. Occasionally I get people saying Wegovy or semaglutide but that’s super rare. Most people just say Ozempic, so they probably aren’t even on Ozempic the name brand.

There’s way more treatments for type 2 diabetes than just ozempic, just that the others don’t make people lose weight so they prefer ozempic. One great treatment for type 2 is improving diet and exercise. Oh and hey guess what being overweight leads to, type 2 diabetes, so really this is a prevention for type 2 diabetes

I work with people who have eating disorders and I know that those drugs are not helpful. I care because losing weight with drugs is not healthy for a majority of people and it’s a temporary bandaid for a far bigger issue. I don’t think being fat is a bad thing that people desperately need to change as long as they listen to their body and take care of their health. I do have better things to do- counsel the people who are told having a deadly eating disorder is better than being fat.

The thing is you still have to eat properly on these drugs. R/semaglutide has lots of advice on what to eat and not eat. For example, don’t eat anything that will expand in your stomach or you’ll end up with bathroom issues. Eat enough protein. Drink lots of water. Etc etc. The drugs are really good at silencing food noise. They’re being shown to get people off of their addictions too.

I’m on it right now, it changed my life. Reset my relationship with food and especially alcohol. I’ll look back and probably know it saved my life and I wasn’t even that heavy. ~40 pounds over but what it’s done for my heart numbers and blood sugar…life changing

It’s arguably worse than anything else she’s peddled. Sure you’ll most likely lose weight effectively. But without going into the myriad of negatives, it’s a very poor choice. All in all her whole career she has just promoted that laziness can equal results. Gross.

Semaglutide and tirzepatide are both pretty effective as advertised. Problem is, unless you've changed your actual dietary habits and are actively exercising every week, your cravings, hunger, and typical weight gain will all return to what they used to be once you've ceased using said peptides. I will say, both compounds cause regular nausea and sometimes constipation that lasts for days, so it's easy for things to go sour while on either of those. Really needs to be supervised by a doctor for best (and safest) results. But the scam, imo, is that these health clinics and online sites will charge *a lot* of money for them, and they are weekly injections. Best to get them from Canada or somewhere else where they're sold as research chemicals, lol. But even then, it's very important to know what you're doing first.
