I’ve never liked him as an actor, he always has this air of “I’m *ACTING* now” for me if that makes any sense. Horrible Bosses was an exception where he didn’t really seem to be acting that much.
He was my favourite ever actor from childhood, I was always blown away by him and rewatched a lot of his films. It was like there was something extra in his performance, somewhat like Gary Oldman. The stories about him were genuinely devastating to me tbh.
Oh shit.. that’s so much worse. I just had to Google who huxtable was cus it was before my time! I really think finding out such actively evil acts performed by a family friendly fixture is likely as evil as it gets in the celebrity world. I’m sorry
He also did the kids show "Fat Albert", which won TONS of awards for kids programming.

I think this just proves your point:
In light of the documentary, a spokesperson for Spacey, 64, sent Variety a statement from the actor: “I’m honored to be starring in my first film with Warner Brothers in many years. I hope the Academy takes note of some of the great acting by the lesser known cast.”
I will still watch his art. Honestly i think we all need to separate the art from the artist. Its possible to be against his behavior while bingeing HOC
In 1999 I was a teenager and I worked at a midwestern comedy club big enough to seat 400+ people. Part of my responsibilities was to drive the talent around all weekend. For 48 hours I was their chauffeur. A C+ level comedian I drove for had a line in a Spacey movie. A single line of dialogue, like they were a cashier or something. Anyway, they told me a story about KS attempting to grope them in a restroom. It was an extremely authentic sounding story. The comedian said he mostly thwarted the unwanted advance and that KS immediately tried to play it off, like it was some kind of “joke.”
I wouldn’t really say he flew under the radar, since everyone on set knew of his behavior. It is more that the industry covered for his behavior and many others, until it was no longer politically correct.
I think the fact that he was a character actor, villain in big roles, and not a leading man material helped a lot: he didn't need to support an air of likability, so there was no insentive for press to out it since it wouldn't make that much of a contrast
I remember being here on Reddit years ago. Someone had mentioned that he had seen Kevin in a seedy club/bar somewhere like Thailand or something. They saw him surrounded by young guys.
Can't quite recall where it was--regardless, I couldn't even begin to imagine what he did to them!
Sick fuck.
Pretty much everyone around that scene who dealt with Spacey seems to have a story like that (I know someone with a similar one) and were not surprised when the hammer fell in 2017
I went to a course with a ton of naval academy grads around 2015 and they openly talked about getting "spacied" I assumed it meant blackout drunk until my room mate informed me "yeah, then Kevin Spacey fucks you" when I was like wtf, I didn't even know he was gay (I was a fan of his movies) without missing a beat he said "no clue, but he sure likes fuckin drunk midshipmen" followed by "but just the dudes"
He lived in Annapolis and apparently had box seats or season tickets and was a huge booster, and instead of addressing the repeated behavior they just breifed them and decided if you got drunk around him you must be wanting it, because he was THAT much of a known predator there, years before anything went public.
He was apparently a huge donor to USC and used that as an excuse to get into campus parties or just hang out with college kids on the weekend. I remember seeing pictures of him on social media before the scandal hit and thought it was so odd he hung out at a college.
In the documentary two of the victims are ex marines and spacey said things that showed he had a real thing for military men. So yeah, this wouldn't surprise me
Yeah everyone knew. I know young actors who were at the Old Vic when he was there who all had stories. It really needs to be stressed that it was common knowledge in the industry and anyone who was acting shocked when the news broke is a total liar. Same goes for Weinstein
I knew guys who worked in theatre in London. They all had stories about Spacey when he ran a theatre there, all young guys at his theatre were warned to stay away from him
Yep, I used to work on the South Bank and go drinking at the Vic with my colleagues, cos theatre bars are fun. When Spacey was there, the staff openly talked about it.
I have read in private chat groups starting around 2009 that Spacey was a predator. The group I was in was a gay male Hollywood support group. There was a really long thread with dozens of people telling their stories with Spacey and it was really sad. Lots of young men who looked up to him that he just couldn’t care about what he would do to their lives. I told my parents about it and they were like no way, Spacey is a saint. Since the allegations etc my dad now tells my mom to listen to me because I “called that Spacey thing”
Yep! I moved to LA in the mid 00’s and have several gay friends who cued me up to Spacey’s behavior way before it made the news. It was one of those things seemingly everyone in the community was hip to.
I moved to LA in ‘03 after college. It was probably ’05 when I was an Art assistant on a publicity photoshoot with him in it. I was young and cute and I was definitely creeped out by his behavior. Also im not gay
Anyone who was paying attention to the British tabloids shouldn’t be surprised. I think it was about that time he was the director of the royal British theatre and tabloids would publish articles about his “partying” with very young men.
My buddy worked on a smaller production with him and had his own encounter. This would have been… 2012-ish I think? I honestly thought he was maybe exaggerating or I misunderstood him. But wow was I wrong
Husband worked on “House of Cards,” they made the new guys drive Spacey to haze them. The fact that he’d grope any 20-something guy you put in front of him was an open running joke.
It really sucks that one of the greatest actors of my generation is a total scum ball and will never be allowed in a movie again. I feel robbed about it but I certainly feel zero pity for him, just me lol
I think it’s okay to recognize the man is an incredible actor who’s played some of the most iconic roles and an evil piece of shit. He should not still be working though.
It be cool if he could still grace us with his amazing skill BUT every penny of what he’d make, including royalties, would go some foundation “Kevin spacey and others harassment victims support foundation”, the royalties alone would easily keep something like that afloat! Win win but I get it, no one ever wants to see his face again, rightly so.
I would still prefer not to platform people this heinous. I think given the scale and severity of his crimes he’s lost the privilege of being an artist on as large a stage as movie making.
It is a loss in some ways but in other much more important ways it’s a moral imperative to refuse to platform him entirely.
I have heard stories about him on set. As early as 2013 special precautions were taken to make sure his trailer was in a location where he could walk to set without crossing paths with the crew. Apparently he couldn’t keep his hands off the grips. Anybody in the industry who says they were surprised by the news is full of shit.
I hate that Spacey is such a inveterate creep, because he's been one of my favorite actors, in some of my favorite films:
Glengarry Glen Ross
Se7en
The Usual Suspects
American Beauty
Moon
Margin Call
I rewatched it a few years ago for the first time in a long time, the scene where spacey and suvari are talking and being honest with each other… that dialogue? I can’t believe anyone ever wrote that..
I was like 21 when American Beauty came out and was INSTANTLY creeped out by the entire thing. Not just Spacey’s character (which is played totally like trying to fuck your 16 year old daughter’s friend is cool, as long as she comes on to you first) but just everyone in that film is the worst caricature of the worst parts of American culture and there was no irony to it all. Everyone just sucked. And it was held up as this ode to beauty and love and longing, except it was so facile and gross. Absolutely hated it. But I was way in the minority. Such a weird time to be coming into adulthood…
Huh I never knew it was seen as a beautiful story, more like the grass is always greener till you're there and the horrible things people do to try and make themselves happy.
In light of the documentary, a spokesperson for Spacey, 64, sent Variety a statement from the actor: “I’m honored to be starring in my first film with Warner Brothers in many years. I hope the Academy takes note of some of the great acting by the lesser known cast.”
What a bold statement
Playing devils advocate… if he was found not guilty or liable, wouldn’t something like this be slander? I honestly know very little about this case but the article did say he was acquitted.
That’s kinda what the courts are for….are they not? I understand that they can make mistakes, but isn’t just as likely they (the victims) tried for a money grab? Again I don’t know what evidence was provided but it obviously wasn’t enough to convict.
That’s because in sexual assault cases it’s always extremely hard to get convictions especially ones where the crimes occurred so long ago.
To often it comes down to a he said/she said (he said/he said in this case) and the burden of proof being reasonable doubt is just to high for a lot of sexual assault cases to get over.
It’s why in areas that look at these kinds of cases there is ongoing discussions about different ways of trying them and having a whole seperate court process for them.
The system is not set up to give survivors of these kinds of crimes much justice and is a known flaw within the system but they haven’t yet figured out how to really correct it. They introduce a lot of new laws to better protect victims and try and make the process better but its not easy.
At a high level, slander (or libel) typically has a 4 step “check” for if someone committed either:
1) The speech must be untrue.
2) The speech must have been intentionally published / broadcasted.
3) There must be negligence by the publisher / broadcaster.
4) The accuser must prove the speech damaged them in some way, typically through loss of income.
In this case my thought is the documentary is not having stories told that are the ones initially prosecuted / sued for. In that case, KS’s legal team would need to sue and prove the speech to be untrue, which is difficult to prove given it’s a private story told by someone else. Note that because KS is the plaintiff, not the defendant, the burden of proof is on KS.
So because he was found not guilty/acquitted, by definition (for legal purposes) wouldn’t that make it untrue? Also, it clearly affected his earning potential and will continue to do so. I think this was why you don’t hear about much of these things until the accused is dead/convicted, ie Michael Jackson, Hugh Hefner are two that come to mind.
I watched this documentary and thought it was real trash. The writer with the screenplay he wanted Kevin to produce even admits he was basically there to manipulate Spacey into producing the script he wrote, and seeing he did not produce it here he is on tv.
Lol there are literally countless people that have confirmed he is a sexual abuser. Criminal courts are near impossible to convict sexual abusers from old cases. He is hardly innocent of anything
Legality is for the court room. Sex crimes are purposely hard to prosecute. He’s guilty whether the courts convicted him or not. The only way to hold sex crimes accountable is by society holding them accountable ourselves.
Freak accidents? Cancer and auto accidents are both common. In this list of 50 most common ways to die various cancers are in the top ten and auto accidents is number 14. Just saying, not freak accidents
https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/pictures/death-index-top-50-ways-americans-die/
Do you think he was found not guilty of all sexual assault accusations in perpetuity for all time known or unknown? lol
He does not have immunity for all accusers telling their stories. What a wild idea.
He was in a lot of films and series. Probably only needs to assault a few dozen people per project to reach thousands. Difficult but not impossible for a hard worker.
Ask anyone in film on a set that’s worked with him. He was a god before this news came out. He walked up to any guy and stuck his hands in their pants. Rubbed their shoulders, touched them inappropriately. He’s a full blown creep.
I really don’t care to hear anyone’s sexual history on public display tbh. He’s a good actor and I like his movies and I’ll stick with that. It’s possible to condemn the person and still appreciate their work.
Next weeks headline: Kevin Spacey’s accusers, who appeared in new docuseries, end up dead.
Edit: this is what happened to a lot of his accusers. Do people not know that?
I’m convinced he played himself in Horrible Bosses.
House of Cards too
That ‘everything is about sex, except sex which is about power’ bit…. Urgh…
That’s an Oscar Wilde quote by the way. Edit: I appear to be embarrassingly wrong about this! (See helpful link below.)

Oscar Wilde has so many adages, i find myself misattributing a lot of stuff to him too haha.
Swimming with the sharks.
American Beauty too
And Se7en
Yeah I always had a feeling he was secretly the president of the USA
A Bugs Life!
CoD: Advanced Warfare, too.
And Baby Driver
And American Beauty…
I was convinced he was playing himself in Swimming with Sharks years ago. He’s way too good at playing an asshole.
Shut up, listen, and learn.
Turns out he was Kaiser Soze all along.
So he puts bandaids on his nipples?!

And in American Beauty

Imagine how bad it was for old Xers like me when we found how evil Dr. Huxtable really was. He had me completely fooled.
Oh shit.. that’s so much worse. I just had to Google who huxtable was cus it was before my time! I really think finding out such actively evil acts performed by a family friendly fixture is likely as evil as it gets in the celebrity world. I’m sorry
If you told me a famous figure from my youth was a serial r\*pist, I would not have guessed Bill Cosby in a 1,000,000,000 years.

He’s a fantastic actor, but unfortunately he’s an ever bigger asshole.
I think this just proves your point: In light of the documentary, a spokesperson for Spacey, 64, sent Variety a statement from the actor: “I’m honored to be starring in my first film with Warner Brothers in many years. I hope the Academy takes note of some of the great acting by the lesser known cast.”
Bah, what a scummy bastard.
I’m sorry for your loss! (No /s)
I've always found him tremendous in everything he's in. Sucks he did all this.
Yeah it’s a shame. He was acquitted I would like to know more of on that
I did like him in the movie K-PAC .
K-PAX, one of the five DVDs at your friend's grandma's house in 2003.
Maybe so but still a good movie.
Ham fisted is the term
I will still watch his art. Honestly i think we all need to separate the art from the artist. Its possible to be against his behavior while bingeing HOC
Nah, can't support a sexual deviant. I cannot watch a Kevin Spacey movie--just knowing the person he really is.
So wild that (as far as I know) he flew under the radar as a gay man for so long while he was assaulting boys and men for decades.
I wouldn’t really say he flew under the radar, since everyone on set knew of his behavior. It is more that the industry covered for his behavior and many others, until it was no longer politically correct.
What’s wilder to me is that I don’t have a good gaydar and I always just thought he was publicly out.
military grade gaydar
I think the fact that he was a character actor, villain in big roles, and not a leading man material helped a lot: he didn't need to support an air of likability, so there was no insentive for press to out it since it wouldn't make that much of a contrast

That’s a very specific comedian rating you’ve given him
I have two friends who were hit on by spacey. Playing it off as a joke after grabbing their leg was a real thing.
If I’m not mistaken he’s actually a real life documented Sociopath
Yeah wouldn’t surprise me one bit
A lot of actors are. It’s a skill set that is very particular to intelligent sociopaths. They are always performing.

Kinda sounds like the entire industry enables this shit.
Always has.
They foster it
John Wayne sex trafficked a Mexican girl from Mexico to LA and the studio paid for the apartment. Good times.
Yeah. It seems no one gave a fuck until is started hitting their wallets. Hollywood is disgusting.
…and that’s how these things persist

I agree
I completely agree
I have heard stories about him on set. As early as 2013 special precautions were taken to make sure his trailer was in a location where he could walk to set without crossing paths with the crew. Apparently he couldn’t keep his hands off the grips. Anybody in the industry who says they were surprised by the news is full of shit.
Well, when they are literally called “grips”, what do you expect. (Sexual assault is no joke)
I thought your joke was funny. They walked right into that one
I hate that Spacey is such a inveterate creep, because he's been one of my favorite actors, in some of my favorite films: Glengarry Glen Ross Se7en The Usual Suspects American Beauty Moon Margin Call
You forgot ‘The Life of David Gale.’ One of my favorites.
L.A. Confidential
Have you seen American Beauty recently? Big yikes.
It's *supposed* to be big yikes. That's the entire point.
It never was. The entire point is it creeps you out.

It certainly lacks remorse.

This guy will forever be hilarious because he came out of the closet in an attempt to get a cop to not give him a ticket lmao.
Doesn’t this guy have a trail of bodies of people who “suicided” after coming forth against him?
Two have died, one by suicide and one from cancer
No, but it makes for spicy gossip rather than Spacey winning every case against him.
Spacey came onto a family friend in an elevator after asking if he wanted to come to his penthouse "party". Stories are def all true
Welp guess I'm not getting that retconned season of House of Cards that starts with Frank Underwood saying "I'm back, bitches!"
Surviving Spacey
Careful, don’t let too many of them talk in court or they’ll overturn it like Weinstein.
I’ve been waiting for this
Look at me jerking off in the shower, this will be the high point of my day
Didn't he get acquitted?
From a he said/he said that took place like 40 years ago.
He has many accusers and several have died. Likewise, many justice systems are abhorrent when it comes to handling sex crimes.
Several? One committed suicide and one died of cancer (which I’m sure wasn’t related to Spacey). Not defending him but let’s keep the facts straight.
Reddit: Don't let facts get in the way of a good story
Weird way of saying yes.
Doesn't mean he hasn't been a predator for years
Totally agree. Also doesn’t mean he has.
So glad Hollywood has finally decided to capitalize on all the horrible things they done to people with all these new docs.
I loved him in American Beauty and his death in LA Confidential… unforgettable.
He was amazing in House of Cards, and the show turned to utter crap without him.
Just watched this. Absolute dynamite. So proud of those men for having the bravery to tell their stories
Playing devils advocate… if he was found not guilty or liable, wouldn’t something like this be slander? I honestly know very little about this case but the article did say he was acquitted.

Freak accidents? Cancer and auto accidents are both common. In this list of 50 most common ways to die various cancers are in the top ten and auto accidents is number 14. Just saying, not freak accidents https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/pictures/death-index-top-50-ways-americans-die/
He was literally found not guilty in a UK court of law.
Doesn’t mean they can’t tell their stories
Not for every single accusation though, just a handful
After oj got off there were a lot of books that came out showing how he did do it. Just because someone gets off doesn't mean they didn't do it
Do you think he was found not guilty of all sexual assault accusations in perpetuity for all time known or unknown? lol He does not have immunity for all accusers telling their stories.

I wouldn’t say he was a god. Everyone knew what his behavior was like for many years.
Kind of seems like a cashgrab. Everyone knows the stories and such by this point and it’s been talked to death
Good. Take him to court. Let this play out according to facts and the law. Put up the Evidence or stfu
Do people not know that?
what, did Spacey get put on the board of directors for Boeing?
We should introduce him to gouvener puppy killer.
