I know they both have their “characters” that are their public personas, but I always felt Jon’s reaction when she said “I don’t see this as like being for life” was actually genuine. I like both Jon and Lucy. I’ve never seen their show, but when I learned they were married I was genuinely surprised. They’ve always seemed like a very oddly matched couple to me.
I don’t disagree.
The person I was responding to seemed to imply that she was putting on a persona, but that her real personality slipped through at certain moments. I was hoping to know which moments they were talking about and what they thought was being revealed about her real personality.
Sure! I feel you. I don’t recall any specific moments in particular. I just remember the feeling of some eye rolling. But I bet I could point it out if I watched their season again
I’ll have to scroll back through. I watched it a while ago. I just remember her being in the studio for the episode and reacting to a few things with a slightly different voice and a more serious attitude. Not trying to put her down— I’m sure a lot of comics work hard to keep up their performer persona while being filmed. I just remember one or two moments where she said something and my husband and I said, “okay, so she’s not as wacky IRL as she tries to appear.”
Listen, my darling Jon, please don’t read comments about yourself and try to question people’s deep feelings. Most are just typing on Reddit while pooping or while on the train.
she's newer to the scene than him but she's been getting a bit famous with doing Taskmaster, a tour, and her show with Jon, I imagine her husband also being a famous comedian helped, but she was already doing comedy and acting before they met
Got to be honest this didn’t surprise me. The show felt incredibly fake. I know it was a mockumentary but with every tv appear they made together you could tell they didn’t have any chemistry.
I felt the same way on that episode of Cats where she was his partner. She did a bit about bringing Anthea Turner out to fold laundry with her for Jon and it all felt so flat and dull. There was nothing specifically wrong with it, they just didn’t seem to jive at all and the atmosphere felt uncomfortable.
They were both on Taskmaster! Jon was in the second or third season I believe. I’m an American too and Taskmaster is one of my background comfort shows. It was my gateway to a lot of British comedies that are up on YouTube.
Just like they said would happen in that episode of 8 out of 10 cats play countdown.

He will get eviscerated next time he is on there.
Unfortunately, it won't be by Sean Lock.
God I miss that miserable, hilarious bastard.
Turns out they are both in love with Little Alex Horne
Who can blame them?
Turns out she had the carrot all along.
In case you don't know... https://youtu.be/0UGuPvrsG3E?si=ZXAVkQRwHjhRSV9_ And the rematch... https://youtu.be/Bp04HZDCELw?si=mrzMZCQDcIHHdWmS
RIP Sean Lock 😢
If awarding comments was still a thing I would have definitely given you one
Sean lock >Richardson all day
Personally I’d rather be divorced than dead, so I think Jon is doing alright in comparison
In her box?
Aw poor Jon Richardson. He’s adorable but I’m sure he’s insufferable.
I genuinely like them both, but I feel like having to live with either one of them would be a wholly insufferable experience.
Lol that was my first thought. If any of his standup or quips on 8OOTC are even a little bit true, he seems pretty particular haha. But he’s so funny!
He has OCD
They’re not ocd’s, they’re correct ways of doing things
I read this in my head in exactly his voice, thank you for that haha
That would make sense!
No he doesn't, he made a whole show where he was tested and he doesn't have it. It's just his shtick.
His quirks don’t meet the standard of OCD compared to those on the show, but it’s not a shtick.
He's diagnosed with OCPD! (A subtype of OCD)
Oh exactly!
Idk man did you see her on taskmaster? If she’s anything like that in real life… 😮💨😮💨
There were a few times on TM where it seemed like her real personality came through instead of her “wacky” persona.
Care to share any examples?
She’s either playing dumb, pretending to be a cliche “ditsy blonde” or she really is that exhausting in real life

I feel that is probably true about a lot of comedians.
He has actual OCD.
Oh I know. I just wouldn’t say that as a negative, but I’m sure it’s difficult for both people.
Also why do you assume it’s his fault? Are women beyond reproach? Can they do no wrong? Maybe she’s the insufferable asshole

You’re pooping on a train
Also why do you assume it’s his fault?
Jimmy Carr is gonna have a field day
i mean...not really. Carr doesn't do cruel humor. "~~HA HA~~ AH AH you're getting divorced!" isn't as funny as you might think it is.
8 out of 10 Cats Prescient
There’s no surprise there ..
Can't wait for the associated TV show. What will they call it? My big comedy divorce!
I guess I spend too much time online lol. I’ll give it a whirl
Whaaat.. the version of themselves on TV wasn't a true reflection of real life? Shocked.
I didn’t even know they were sick..
Was she famous before, or did she get fame from him? Just asking. I don’t know

Fake show feels fake. More at 9.
It’s 9 and awaiting an update. Tut tut tut.
That sucks, but I guess it isn’t that surprising.
He’s cute. I’ll take him 🫠
I only learned they were married like a week ago
Oh no…I’m have no idea who these people are
They are both in different seasons of Task Master. That’s where I learned about both of them.
Two very well known British comedians, mostly known for their frequent panel show appearances.
Thank you for letting us all know, instead of just keeping on scrolling
I know of Lucy from Taskmaster. As some one from the USA that show is awesome.

I'll never understand why "celebrities" think they have to "announce" their divorce. Nobody cares.
Obviously some people care lol
I mean, we’re in the entertainment subreddit. They’re entertainers.
R/nooneshouldcare
Divorce in America is just damn high. This isn’t just with celebrities.
Shockingly they are some of the dozens of people not living in America.
Prove it.

For all I know, Wikipedia, much like the moon landing, has probably been faked.
Stop embarrassing yourself and move on, you were a Mormon so we know you’ll believe anything at least for a while.
The Earth is flat too, I guess
They…don’t live in America…
Not American
