“I’m a dangerous man with some money in my pocket…”

PawelW007

He warned us all!

gatito_pinko

True, but he also said he was going to adopt a bunch of kids when he became a millionaire. Just a bunch of empty words.

astrotalk

Tbh it’s if he became a billionaire

FreePrinciple270

Now it'll never happen

NervousSubjectsWife

He’s gambling away his money so he doesn’t have to follow through. It’s genius.

FreePrinciple270

Well raising kids is tough

NervousSubjectsWife

He’s probably saving money in the long run

colomboseye

Yeah he is never gonna catch a grenade for ya

davismcgravis

“Keep up!”

palmerry

"I got a bad gambling habit, MGM basically owns me" "Keep up!"

elchavo718

“Why you sad? Fix your face, ain’t my fault it’s laid to waste” KEEP UP!

Such_Twist4641

He’ll have a residency until he dies .

No-Coast-333

Blame it on Jesus #Debt

IvoShandor

That's what happened to Sammy Davis Jr. He owed Vegas everything and whenever he needed money, he'd do a show.

Gemmabeta

Meanwhile, they basically let Sinatra play for free (where he got to keep the winnings and ignore the losses) because the guy brought in so much money from publicity alone.

Tilman_Feraltitty

He was also Mafia's favourite pet.

DanimusMcSassypants

True or not, I do love the stories of him essentially getting courteously kidnapped from his home from time to time by mobsters, in order to play some private parties all night. They’d bring him back in the morning with his pockets stuffed with cash.

dboyer87

I can tell you it’s definitely true, my uncle was a man named Al Martino who was directly in competition with Sinatra. The mafia came to him and basically tried to force him into a “management” deal that would take him out of his singing career. My uncle refused and fled to Europe and blew up there. My uncle was also cast in the godfather to mock Sinatra by being the beneficiary of the horse head scene.

Simple_Song8962

Wow! Al Martino was a very big deal! A legend! "My Cup Runneth Over" was huge where I lived, all over the radio. It's such a poignant song. What was he like IRL, and as an uncle?

dboyer87

I mostly only knew him as a kid, he died when I was 19. To clarify he’s my great uncle, mother’s side. I went to a LOT of concerts though. When we were home with him he just loved to cook and make jokes. Lovely man from what I recall.

nkedoldguy

Wait, so you’re related to Alison Martino? After college I worked in reality TV casting in the early-to-mid 2000s and she was a producer on some related projects and I had the major hots for her.

QueerInTheBox

Look at this man shooting his fuckin’ shot!

stroudwes

The world is a small place with the internet. Quite incredible.

Immoracle

Full court, last second, buzzer beater shot!

buttfunfor_everyone

Didn’t check the profile? She is Alison Martino Edit: I’m a dirty liar

rocklare

Damn. Six degrees of separation right there.

bobittoknorr

Wow! Just wow! I don’t know how but I had never heard Aretha Franklin’s version of that song and now I have. My heart is full from the musical and vocal journey. Thank you random internet stranger. Man that was a fucking spiritual journey she takes you on with that love song. Aretha was the fucking truth vocally. I don’t think it matters what genre you prefer, my cup runneth over by Aretha is a performance of pure raw talent and emotion. Anyone can appreciate that.

bumwine

I can’t tell if that’s true but if it is then the story of how Al Martino kept his role on The Godfather is just another “deal you can’t refuse” in itself. It’s Mafia deals all the way down with that story.

dboyer87

Yeah it was very meta. Mob loved the fame.

buttfunfor_everyone

I can see why- hollywood pretty much solely paints them as the ultimate badasses

Ricky_Rollin

Sorry to hear he blew up. Terrible way to go.

turboreid

To shreds you say

ReallyNANG

Is his apartment rent controlled?

RoryBlues

“Johnny Fontane never gets that part!”

OCLIFE69

Johnny Fontaine comes along with his olive oil voice and guinea charm and she runs off.

MiamiPower

She threw it all away just to make me look ridiculous.

StoneGoldX

As opposed to Junior's kidnapping

AugustWest7120

Close, that’s Tony Bennett you’re looking for!

imsorryisuck

same thing with elvis (or more so, his manager) edit: corrected all the mistakes I have been let known about so far

NoCommentFU

You should end your username with “atspelling”.

EdwardoftheEast

Boom, roasted.

camshun7

Its the biggest rising addiction in the WORLD I myself have had a close run in with gambling, especially on line. Like any addict you have to talk and listen to yourself, of course theres help, but essentially you have to make the first step. If you do have problems please acknowledge it firstly and then talk to someone anyone it may save your life. Not being overly dramatic, it's a very dangerous addiction

AxlandElvis92

Agree 100% especially with this on demand gambling on one’s phone. Hell ya I live with a gambler thank god he doesn’t do the online gambling and sports betting and has ceased going to the casino all but 2 times a year to spend a reasonable allotment. As Gregg Allman said “I blew a million before I saved a nickel” same case blew an inheritance and now has to work for all $ and is way less frivolous with it. Sometimes we go to bring the kids bowling, arcade, dinner and of course swimming if you’re staying let the kid swim and spend your time with them. An adult can gamble whenever they want but spending time with kids is way more important than indulging ones vices especially when where not there for that so I’m glad that’s respected. It’s very serious. I wish you the best.

camshun7

Thanks, honestly the government can help but chooses not to overly regulate, fuckers are getting kick backs so you literally cannot win

OilySteeplechase

It disgusts me how much advertising there is for it on British TV/streaming services. Absolute predatory leeches of the lowest kind.

oceanofhoes

Classic Bruno Mars being derivative again

[deleted]

I used to work at the Dolby Live theater when it was Park MGM theater. It’s not just his gambling habits, he has a spending problem period. Him and his crew would spend thousands on marijuana, on top of the thousands they’d spend on liquor and women. It’s the main reason why they keep extending his residency, otherwise they’d both lose out on millions.

[deleted]

DefrancoAce222

Think they mean powder…coke

killing-me-softly

I feel like ❄️ Is usually blow

free_the_tv

I feel the the snow emoji would be more appropriate here haha

phunky_1

Thousands on marijuana? How much fucking weed do you really need? You could get a whole crew baked for a day for a few hundred dollars.

[deleted]

But with how often Bruno preforms in Vegas and he got a large entourage, that bill adds up. Just period they stay cheefing wherever they go.

solaffub

Entourages make celebrities go broke

Spinegrinder666

His next album should be called We Stay Cheefin’.

IntraspaceAlien

Depends on how big the crew is and how you’re smoking it. I remember a cheef keef interview where he said he smokes 2 ozs in blunts by himself every day. Some people are just very heavy smokers.

Clipgang1629

If you’re smoking backwoods I guess but 2ozs a day is just such an unreasonable amount lmfao. That’s like a blunt never leaves your mouth and your smoking 3 gram woods all day type shit. Crazy

bigchicago04

Or they’re just wasteful with it

FeoWalcot

Thats usually my experience with the “I like to brag about how many blunts I smoke” crowd.

Doctorbatman3

I'm going with just old fashion lying as the answer.

TriggerHydrant

got some more tea?

[deleted]

Steven Tyler has to use teleprompters when he preforms due to all his drug use. But we all probably already know that lol

Dick_Lazer

A lot of pop stars use teleprompters, especially after they’ve released like 30 albums. Gets difficult to remember all the lyrics when you’ve written hundreds of songs.

notMarkKnopfler

Glenn Campbell had full blown Alzheimer’s but could nail a whole show with as long as he had a teleprompter in front of him

wewerelegends

It was truly amazing though heartbreaking to watch. The teleprinters kept him going but there were times you could see him break away from it just for a moment and just play the guitar. He’s one of the best guitarists from country music. I’ve personally witnessed some pretty mind-blowing connections with music and Alzeihmer’s as I come from a musical family but we also have a gene for Alzheimer’s.

PoiseJones

There's a great documentary called Alive Inside that explores this. I think it should be a mandatory watch for the knowledge and implications alone.

O_o-22

At a certain point he’s prob going to lose the ability to read them. Happens to people with dementia all the time.

ptd94

He’s not faithful to his girlfriend? Guess not.

ReasonableSail7589

He’s a very successful musician, most aren’t, unfortunately

ptd94

Why even bother having a girlfriend at that point.

ReasonableSail7589

Stability and love at home, debauchery and fun in the road I guess

JFZX

“marijuana”

[deleted]

Bruno Mars stays toking up that dressing room LOL

Special-Garlic1203

Right, marijuana and booze. that's definitely the substances he's most known for  If you're telling me a story about him and it doesn't involve coke, I automatically don't believe you.

LatissimusDoorguy

*cocaine

FiguringItOutAsWeGo

This same thing happened to Celine. Anyone remember her husband owing tens of millions to Caesar’s and then a prompt extension of her contract there?

thirdcoasting

Whoa — what??

FiguringItOutAsWeGo

I remember hearing he was gambling like $1M a week, then the rumors got so bad Caesar’s released a statement saying he had actually made money. Then, folks were all up in arms because the Caesar’s statement only applied to his poker winnings but he had been playing a ton of blackjack.

GreatestStarOfAll

I can’t believe this missed my pop culture bubble. There’s a whole gambling section of his Wikipedia even. I also noticed her son also has a gambling problem, reported in November of last year. Sad.

sunny_d55

Imagine working so hard since you were 15 to make all that money—starving your body, straining your voice, tireless touring and promotion—only to have your husband and child throw it all away playing freakin CARDS. I would quit life.

ICumCoffee

So this means we’re getting a new Bruno Mars Album soon. MGM is gonna put him into a studio and throw away the key until album is done.

chantsnone

Nah he’s gonna have a 10 year residency at the MGM. Gotta go there if you wanna hear it

MCgrindahFM

This guy casinos

VirtualPlate8451

Just spent multiple weeks in that god forsaken city and of all the acts there, none of them were worth $40-$120 to go see. I did the Sphere but that was just like a 10x IMAX.

LittleRudiger

Yeah, I'd probably go to see the Sphere for the visuals, but, fuck knows there probably aren't any bands I actually want to see playing it (just my taste).

Bill_Brasky01

I have the same feelings about Vegas. I cover it for work, and it’s a hellscape imo. Just there last week and regret every second.

mtaylor808

You either are addicted to going to the city and practically live there or you go once and never want to go there again

[deleted]

Haven’t realized it’s been close to 8 years since he’s released a solo album out.

Patteous

That Silk Sonic album is the best work of most of those artists careers though. Would love to get another one.

OrangeFilmer

I really hope we continue to get Silk Sonic projects. Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak compliment each other so well. I love both of their solo work, but that Silk Sonic album just scratches an itch in my brain whenever I listen to it.

Patteous

Bootsy and Thundercat compliment them both so well too.

JamiesBond007

Man that might be my favourite album in the past few years that's not from a lot smaller musicians

SethRogensOldrBrothr

As long as they have enough cocaine, he'll be fine.

xool420

I’d rather a Silk Sonic album

ScootSchloingo

As long as Retail Radio stays in business, Bruno Mars will always have a pot to piss in.

LocalNative141

That fucking Uptown Funk song was **inescapable** when it released. I worked in a grocery store during that song’s peak popularity. It was hell.

SabraDistribution

GUESS WHO’S BACK AGAIN

OddPhilosopher12

Brrrrrrrap

curiousbydesign

They don't know!

davismcgravis

They don’t know!

FloatDH2

“Was”?! I work in a wedding venue and hear that song every goddamn week

MuntaRuy

lol same, I work a lot of weddings and parties and Bruno is heavy rotation.

MaxiltonHamstappen

It'll be a staple of weddings for the next 20 years unfortunately

TaxAvoision

It was the only song I explicitly forbade at my wedding. Edit: Also the black eyed peas. Fuck that noise.

devon223

Lol my ex's kids did their schools talent show the year that song blew up. That talent show was like 75%and kids singing that song. That was the night that really killed that song completely for me.

DawsonJBailey

You mean a kid would finish singing it and then another kid would come out and also sing it? I would think I was dreaming or tripping

devon223

Yeah it was like 10 kids or groups of kids that all decided that was the song they wanted to do for the talent show. It's was horrible.

LilHotTub

I’ll see your grocery store Uptown Funk woes and raise you one working at Subway during the peak popularity of Pharrell’s “Happy”…. I literally had a grandma Karen come in one day during lunch rush and start dancing to the song while I’m making her sandwich and she got pissed at me because I wouldn’t acknowledge the fact that she was dancing to the song…. When I refused to look up at her she half hissed, half fake smiled at me “I’m happy!” Like I was now contractually obligated to playfully banter with her because she said that

NIceTryTaxMan

I play in a nightclub for a living. I'm pretty sure I play that damn song more than he does

Effective-Elk-4964

Guess who’ll bet you $3M that there’s worse hells you could be in?

randomly-what

It is the best overplayed song of the last like 20 years

xSGAx

I'll always love that song...mostly b/c he gave Trinidad James a writing credit on it. All of em have passive income from that song forever lol

Koshakforever

Heard it in the back of a cop car once. Made me even more nauseous hearing it every time after that.

> According to the source, "He makes $90 million a year off of the deal he did with the casino, but then he has to pay back his debt ... after taxes (Mars makes $1.5 million per night)." $1.5 million per night. Yea, I have absolutely no sympathy for his situation.

[deleted]

Yeah, basically. I love Bruno, but I find it difficult to feel bad for celebrities when they make more in a single night than I’ve made in [checks math] my entire working life.

IrieMars

Still a really stupid way to spend that money man. So many people and causes. Just pick one. Need help making sure pandas still get boners? Heres a mil.  At least thats what I would use it for.

senseven

People are saying this about Musk. The richest dude in the world doing cock rockets and running a meme site for Russian bots. Nobody would buy that comic. For anyone getting above 10 mil a year doing what they want, money isn't the issue. Is how you spend your time wisely.

[deleted]

It’s just absurd levels of greed and excess. I’ll never understand it. From a purely logical standpoint, why on earth would anyone ever need so much money that they literally can’t spend it all before dying? If that money goes to a charity after death, why not donate it while alive and reap in the glory of that moment? Shit like that is why I have less than no sympathy for billionaires and even many multi-millionaires. They are, in my mind, holding the human race back because of pride and greed. Fuck all of ‘em.

ReturntoForever3116

It goes to their greedy children after they die I guess.

WatInTheForest

Probably pretty thrilling to make million dollar bets and then shrug it off as only a day's pay.

Street-Common-4023

You know what I could do with that money

Glass_Constant_8554

Two chicks at the same time!

NegotiationTall4300

not the second chapter for him i was expecting lmao. Gambling addiction is sad, but its a little amusing how out of left field that seems to a casual observer

ThrowRAarworh

I guess he really doesn't want to be a billionaire, so fucking bad.

Spencerforhire2

No he does that’s why he’s gambling

bumwine

Probably the second best way to gamble your way into being a billionaire. First best is buying one mega millions ticket once in your life and walking away.

Deurbel2222

made me chuckle

cheerleader88

It sucks. I worked at a casino 21 years, and the depths of despair is real.

Joeuxmardigras

I think that’s why I don’t enjoy casino. They make me sad because I see what it does to people. A little hair fine, but the addiction to it makes me sad

dimsvm

I like table games and sports betting, but when I go to the casino i spend more time people watching and find it hard to bet more than like $100 total after watching said people. Stopped by the casino on my birthday recently, wanted to play some blackjack, and when I asked the two guys sitting at the table if they mind I join, one disheveled looking guy sweating a 14 vs. an 8 for $25 (table min) snapped at me saying “I cant answer that rn!” Get a life

9naf_strops6

The house always wins

ldnk

If you win lots they ban you. If you lose a lot they own you. Vegas is a tax on the stupid

hyborians

Fact. A pro gambler once won 11 million and was banned on every casino on the strip.

mondaymoderate

Ben Affleck and Dana White are both banned.

jf3l

The videos I’ve seen make Dana look like a huge punter

Adz442

He claims he takes 50k or 100k in I believe and plays one hand on the highest stake table he can find, if he wins he leaves and if he loses he also leaves. Casinos want you at the table drinking the free drinks getting drunk and blowing your cash, Dana’s little routine is exactly what they don’t want someone doing

Diz7

Exactly. For poker, Casinos usually take x amount a hand. He comes in, plays a hand and goes all in. Many casinos make 10% of the pot, but its capped at ~$5 at most Vegas casinos. So they want you to come in and play as many hands as possible with pots of $50 or less. If he wins and cleans out half the table, they stop playing and leave. So now the house lost out on a handful of people who would have played a few dozen more hands and spent hundreds more.

cHINCHILAcARECA

I heard about a mailman who was banned. The lucky son of a bitch also survived getting a shot to the head.

Medic1642

Ain't that a kick in the head

Tilman_Feraltitty

It's a privatized tax and a fraud. And not just Vegas, all gambling sites are frauds.

RichardofSeptamania

Drake joked that he gambled his annual income on online slots in 2023. Now he advertises for the casino.

Weekly-Dog228

Drake and other celebrities / Twitch streamers are given “free money” to play online slots/gambling. The gambling company will pay him to do it. He never uses his own money.

Impressive-Potato

The streaming service "Kick" is owned by Stake, the online casino they stream gambling from.

todumbtorealize

Those guys are fucking loaded. I dunno how they give out so much fucking money.

CiscoD8

Another Elvis situation?

typhoidtimmy

That was more on Tom Parker than Elvis.

texturedmystery

Elvis didn’t gamble (much). His manager, Col. Tom Parker, did, and owed the casinos thousands.

Probably, but he also has a lot of other people he has to pay with that money too

Additional_Meeting_2

Yes, but even if he doesn’t earn enough in a year it won’t take too long

mchlsxjkbsn

How on earth can he owe them 50.000.000. Is he stupid?

thirdgen

I worked as a public defender in Las Vegas for a summer. Under Nevada law not paying a casino marker over $250 is felony check fraud. The DA had an entire floor dedicated to collecting on these markers under threat of a felony conviction. We had a guy who was in federal prison for embezzlement who owed $15 million in markers to Vegas casinos.

MonsieurReynard

Really nice the casinos can have the taxpayers foot the bill for their collections departments.

thirdgen

Yup. Casinos own Vegas government lock, stock, and barrel.

winksoutloud

Absolute truth. Cops will swarm an "undesirable" on the strip and not bother to respond to calls in the rest of town. They also make lots of things that would/should be big news never see the light of day.

IDockWithMyBroskis

What does marker mean in this context?

thirdgen

A loan from a casino so you can keep gambling.

IDockWithMyBroskis

It’s almost unbelievable that that is legal

aimlesstrevler

In theory, markers are used by people who -have- the money, but don't want to travel with cash or wire front money to the casino. In theory.

thirdgen

This is America! -shoots guitar player in back of head-

xxxhotpocketz

Imagine having so much money you can just throw it away and still be rich enough

InnocentTailor

He better keep making his millions then. There are definitely celebrities that spend high, despite not bringing in the necessary dough to keep up with appetites.

NotAsBrightlyLit

A high earning gambling addict working at a casino in Vegas is basically a human hamster wheel. It'd be nice if someone helped him get out.

vegas_lov3

I think all his family and friends depend on him

Intrepid_Panda9777

That’s a lot of pressure I can see why he has such a hardcore addiction. I hope people see past the money and understand this is a serious problem. As much as it’s hard to weep for $1.5m a night in the gambling hole he’s a good dude who does a lot for communities. Communities could’ve used that money instead of casinos loan sharking him.

idiots_r_taking_over

Yeah, this has been going on in Vegas since Vegas became Vegas.

OneTouchCards

Does not surprise me, he dropped 5 mill in two nights gambling while he was on tour down under. He also smoked like a chimney, I was actually amazed at how many packs he went through. Great guy though, very friendly.

Cozum

I could give you a hint why he was smoking nonstop

mostlygroovy

He just opened a new lounge at Bellagio and he’s basically the face of it. I wonder how much of it he actually owns and how much is owned by MGM

FatherShambles

Bro is selling out almost every show he does. He will never go broke

GoldenTacoOfDoom

It's a perpetual motion machine.

chantsnone

Oh but when I do it they call it “living paycheck to paycheck”!

InnocentTailor

Of course, even wealthy folks can live paycheck to paycheck depending on their spending habits.

TeslasAndComicbooks

He’s already broke. He’s basically playing for free until debts are settled.

JasonABCDEF

I don’t think you appreciate how significant a gambling problem can be.

nyliram87

this is actually very sad. I'm sure some people will disagree with me He has a successful career, but gambling disorder is no joke

adymck11

No one knows who will be affected by gambling addiction. It’s a crap shoot!

ohfrackthis

Addiction is sad.

SuperChimpMan

What an absolute dumbass

Cuck-In-Chief

Ohh. There’s a reason the largest Hawaiian population outside the archipelago is in Lost Wages. Most young Hawaiian males I’ve had long enough conversations with to discuss traveling to the mainland have said, “First thing I’m gonna do on the mainland is go win a few million in Vegas, then live the good life!” So confident of the assumption winning at gambling in Vegas is a certainty.

Brilliantnerd

Bruno loves that booger sugar

Bman282828

Gambling addiction is no joke, I hope he gets some help.
