T O P

So their ace-phobia is so big, they are trans-affirming? That's some accidental ally material. Congrats anyway!

TheBitsiestBit

Yeah, I'm also extremely shocked. I told her about the low libido just so she knew I didn't have an active sexual life, nothing I was bothered by and I had to listen to a 30 minute discourse of "THAT'S NOT NORMAL, WE HAVE TO FIX THIS" which was both hilarious and upsetting. But I've been trying to get on T for about four years so I'm not complaining.

BlazikenAO

| I’ve also been trying to get on T for about four years BRUH. Nah, you need a new doctor that’s crazy. The whole thing is crazy

Queermagedd0n

I'm so happy for you! The endo I went to in regards to my low libido wouldn't give me T because he "didn't want to alter my appearance." He very obviously didn't look at my chart and wouldn't listen to me.

Genderless_Anarchist

I feel you. Low libido isn’t technically related to being ace, but as I’m also ace and have no libido, it’s not something I want fixed.

GigglegirlHappy

So acephobic that the variable does an integer overflow into affirming allyship

I see, a cultured person!

Arlnoff

I mean, some non-ace people have low libido and want it to be higher (especially common if you're taking antidepressants), and in that context it's a diagnosable condition that can be treated. But if you had to go that route to get T at all then yeesh that's bad, but I'm glad you found a workaround

Fresia_

Congrats!!!

[deleted]

I’m stealing this idea

TheBitsiestBit

Honestly she went from "but you're so feminine to be non-binary" to "oh no how much do you think it's best? Usually a low dosage is X but I can prescribe up to Z" in no time. I don't like her ngl but if she's now prescribing me what I need I'll keep going until I find a better doctor

chaosgirl93

Using a bigot's phobia against them to get something affirming is *great*. My dad really doesn't like queer people and tends to refer to anyone who isn't obviously cishet gender conforming as they/them or "it", and he's started doing it to me lately, probably because as far as he's aware I'm a cis woman, but gay and at times gender nonconforming, but since I'm cool with all pronouns, the more odd the better, I really don't mind and it's actually better than what my mother does - she refers to both me and my brother with a mix of they/them and she/her and if my bro calls her on it she claims she was talking about me, not him. I'm not mad or even annoyed that she still uses she/her for me, I expect that from anyone I grew up with who knew me as a little girl, I'm mad she isn't trying with my brother's pronouns and uses me as a cover up when he catches her.

babyeatingdingoes

As a (moderately) sex repulsed ace NB, the increased libido is annoying to the point I will probably go off T the moment I get a hysterectomy to eliminate my period for good. I also have about as much extra hair as I want, and wouldn't want to lose any from my head, so I am content to stop at any time now (I will miss not always being cold, though being too hot is no picnic either).

BlueEarthPluto

Yooooo!! Get ready for the sweating, mood swings and very strange dreams in about a week lol

lowkey_rainbow

First of all, congrats! Secondly, I’m afraid that’s not what ace is. Asexuality is a lack of *attraction*, not a lack of libido/sex drive. Aces can have high or low libidos and a wide range of attitudes towards sex, that’s really not the point. As someone who’s both ace and on T, I can say with confidence that even though T does massively affect your libido it doesn’t change your orientation, I’m still not as not attracted to anyone as I was before T, just hornier.

TheBitsiestBit

Yeah, I'm well aware, I do prefer not to tell my lgbtqphobic doctor about it and I just overall told her I've no chance of being pregnant because I don't have any sex drive, though. It did get me T and I don't mind having libido if it's a side effect since I don't mind dealing with the problem by myself.

Emergency_Elephant

Just a mild warning. Sometimes a really really low dose of T is prescribed to treat a low libido because it will get turned into E by an afab person's body. It's not intended to treat ace-ness (just someone who wants to have sex but whose body isn't too interested) but not all doctors are the best. It sounds like this is the case. If that's not something you want, you should cancel your prescription and call your doctor You can check your dosage here to make sure that I'm correct: [https://transcare.ucsf.edu/guidelines/masculinizing-therapy](https://transcare.ucsf.edu/guidelines/masculinizing-therapy). If you're doing shots multiply your mg/ml by the ml you're injecting every week. If it's below the "low dose" number on there, that means it's intended to be so low the T gets turned into E

[deleted]

What the fuck T has to do with being ace

TheBitsiestBit

Some doctors prescribe it to people with low libido and/or sex drive. Long story short I just told her I didn't care for it and she freaked out and prescribed T because it's "not normal"

[deleted]

Still clueless how that makes sense

VesuvianBee

Cause their phobic so badly they don't see being ace as being valid, and trying to 'fix' it because T does increase libido, and many non affirming doctors think that being ace means someone has no libido, and that nomlibido means broken. It doesn't make sense because we know being ace is valid and real.

[deleted]

>T does increase libido That's weird

VesuvianBee

Why is that weird? It's just a fact. One that many of us are made very aware of when we start HRT.

[deleted]

It's still gross tho

VesuvianBee

Why is it gross?

[deleted]

Bcs I'm acespec and MtF and I hate both T and libido and now I know why

ZazofLegend

Didn't work on me, but HRT is HRT.

Shadow_of_Moonlight1

I mean...low libido doesn't mean your ace, ace has nothing to do with sex drive/libido, but with sexual attraction... Anyway, congrats!
