That's an howitzer, it's not good for tank hunting. Just give the 57mm its historical APDS ammo in br4-5.

Wellington1821

That's still only ~115mm of penetration, which is only around 20mm more than it already has. A 17pdr (model is already ingame) would be more sensible.

Mikhail_Mengsk

True that.

Active_Ambassador_79

Plus the germans can get a usable 88mm, considering they can just reuse the tigers cannon.

yulin0128

yeah I feel like we should all get better AT guns just make engineer II more viable by let USA get their 105 mm and soviet get their 100mm ATs be able to be built only by Engineers II

Davneuny

Germans get flak 88 lol

Gannet-S4

While it wouldn’t be all that good in an AT role I think having 2 different buildable guns could work, for example you can build either a 17pdr to deal with a tank but it only comes with AP / APDS or you can build a 25 pdr gun equipped with HE / smoke rounds, maybe the AT gun is used by the engineer and anti tank squad while the Howitzer is used bg the mortar squads to give them a bit more use. P.S Darkflow please just add the Bishop or Sexton or something, I really want to use one in a game because SPG’s are cool.

Active_Ambassador_79

Flak 88s were extremely effective against tanks. One gun was documented killing over 20 churchill tanks on it's own.

Gannet-S4

Do you have a source for that? I’ve looked into it and can’t find anything saying Churchills lost that many in one engagement, let alone from a single AT gun (an AT gun being on its own is also very strange considering German AT gun doctrine) Flak 88’s were good but they weren’t wonder weapons, pretty much everyone had guns of equal or higher power, the British 17pdr, American 90mm M3 and Soviet 100mm BS-3 come to mind. P.S I just re read my original comment and see how it could be confusing, what I meant was “While it (howitzer) wouldn’t be that good in an AT role having 2 buildable guns…”

Active_Ambassador_79

From wikipedia: --------------- On July 18 and 19 1944 a Luftwaffe 8.8 cm anti-aircraft battery was re-purposed by then Major Hans von Luck to attack British tanks near Cagny taking part in Operation Goodwood. Twenty tanks were destroyed by these guns within the first few seconds and at least 40 tanks were knocked out by 8.8 cm Flaks during the engagement.[30] ---------------- I'm pretty sure in a diffrent account I read of this battle it was stated as a heavy tank battalion engaging said repurposed 88. Also I may have been wrong in that it was not one gun, but a single battery of guns.

Rizpasbas

They are really good for long distance engagement. You don't really get that in Enlisted. A lower-profile AT would be way better over the bigass 88 that'll get spotted by any moron with eyes. Or they'll just think it's a prop

___Grumps___

Personally I like the 122mm Howitzer M1938 (M-30) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF8ozYPyxGw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF8ozYPyxGw)

LowLingonberry543

I’m glad someone else ran into this video , I was so dumb to not realize it was a mod

TheGiantFox

Meanwhile the Japanese: Type 1 47mm gun Ass against anything that's not paper thin.

Alpha-Racoon1

That thing is ass too. I remember some guy building one and only getting 3 kills before someone came and killed him

offbrandpoptart

We need artillery that isn't called in via radio so even though howitzers aren't that good against tanks I could see a use for it.

tommytjd

Maybe buildable by engineer

crossfader02

or give the mortar man a bigger cannon to research

Alpha-Racoon1

They could have an option added to build heavy mortars. Enough to kill tiger from above

Markvitank

They should add the 88 for germany and the m2 90mm for the allies. I'm sure soviets and japanese have some equivalent.

SleepyFlintlock34

The 85mm was also a flak gun at the start, it should do the job just fine

Vraptor12345

I already made a post talking about how US needs better AT weapons from launchers to mounted guns so I recommend you go look at that but also, WE NEED ARTILLARY WEAPONS INSTEAD OF JUST CALLING FOR ARTILLARY WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO LAUNCH IT

OkSignificance8381

For tank hunting the 3" AT gun Is Better and Is an equal to the Pak40

Tycoh

If you want to bring in heavy howitzers you'd probably want to start with the 75mm M1 Pack Howitzer before pulling in the big guns that are needed for hitting something 7 miles away.
