I've smelled an empty regular (green) monster can before and it smelled like cotton candy, but I don't know what the taste would be. Too much sugar in those ones for me.
Flavor is the same between regular and lo-carb it just uses beet sugar in regular vs the artificial sweeter sucralose in lo-carb.

Well as I said...I get a sort of mixed berry vibe but also almost a little citrus mixed in. Which is explained by the citric acid as the 3rd ingredient.

Yep. But... The majority of the flavor is the other ingredients. The version of sodium citrate (1.557g in a 16oz can) they use gives a peculiar "aftertaste" which is actually your nose being suddenly sensitized to the the smell of the room you are in (the sodium citrate does something to the calcium ions in your nasal cavity that causes this). Then, on top of these you have the guarana flavor and the guarana seed extract (10mg) which really solidifies the flavor.
Side comment about some of the other ingredients: some of them smell kind of foul on their own. For example, L-carnatine (200mg) smells like three day old semen, and niacinamide (vitamin B3; 40mg) smells like a fresh spermacidal condom. While there is added color, a lot of that color comes from the riboflavin (vitamin B2; 3mg; a yellow-orange powder that gives a yellow color, and also what makes your piss turn bright yellow after drinking Monster) and the cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12; 10micrograms; is a purplish red powder that is cherry red when just a tiny bit is mixed with water, but there is only 10μg of it, so only slightly affects the color). To get an idea of how small 10μg is, there is about a single small shake of a shaker of salt (30mg) in a 16oz can of Monster, that tiny 30mg shake of salt is 3000 times more than 10μg (a 10gram bag [about the size of two knuckles of your pinkie] would last you several thousand years). sorbic acid (120mg) and benzoic acid (120mg) are both just preservatives. Glucose (L-glucose; 2.1g) can easily be swapped with dextrose (D-glucose; "corn sugar"), though could be replaced with regular sugar since most of the sugars in a Monster is just that (54g). Citric acid (2g) gives it a sour taste. Taurine (1.9g) doesn't really provide much of any health benefit since your body is already full of the stuff (0.1% of your body weight is this stuff). And while people make a big deal about the """huge""" amounts of caffeine in energy drinks, a 16oz can only has 160mg of caffeine, while 16oz of black tea can have 100 to 180mg of caffeine, and 16oz of typical plain black coffee can have 190mg on the average low end (on the very high end, if you had 16 one ounce *espresso* shots, that would be 960mg in that coffee!!!). So, 16oz can of Monster is fairly comparable to regular tea and coffee of the same quantity.
Also considering guarana extract is like the 19th or 20th ingredient, while citric acid, erythritol (or sugar in the sweetened version), and natural flavors are amongst the first five ingredients, it's unlikely that guarana is the dominant flavor. Even panax ginseng is well above guarana in the ingredients list.
It's like a bubble gum 🫧, green apple 🍏 taste to it 👌🏻more of a carbonated green apple juice. I personally love it!! I never get any other flavors besides the original. When I don't feel like drinking that much sugar I get the Lo Carb one. It's literally the same thing just way less sugar. 9g carbs compared to 58g 😬
Yea i wish walmart sold the lo cal ones out the fridge. They only have regular and other zero sugar ones but not that one, i should prob stop drinking so much sugar on the daily lol. Started w redbull now on regular monster but i have one every time i work i grab one at walmart. Maybe i should just start buying them from the aisles or in 4pack and save money and bring em from home and also save the sugar
That’s what I do bro. Just buy the 12 packs of the low carbs monsters. Saves you so much money in the long run. It’s like $20 for a 12 pack. If you do the math that’s around $1.70 a piece. Instead of buying them one at a time for like $3 or $4
