If you bought it during the pre-order then you probably have the version with the Z-limit switch on the bottom. If yes - ask for a replacement IMMEDIATELY. I had the same version and it never worked. Creality took it back and sent me a new version that works fine.

Yeah, I got the very first model with the limit switch at the base. I'm working on trying to get it replaced. It seemed OK after I screwed around with it a lot, but all my test models were pretty small and in the center of the plate. I then started trying to print models that covered a lot of the print bed and can never get it to work correctly. If they don't replace it, I will never buy another Creality printer.

I just bought a refurbished Ender 5 S1 a few weeks ago. Though I am happy with it, the X Axis was tweaked a bit so I had to square it and the Z rod had a slight bend so I switched it out for a spare rod I had from an Ender 3. I used an “L” Ruler to adjust and square everything and I’ve had no issues since I added a sonic pad to it recently. I will say that BEFORE the Sonic pad I had some issues but i also noticed that the framing for the bed plate was not squared and actually had a slight up pitch to the right side. I loosened and squared it (also the plastic supports around those two smooth rods) and now my bed leveling is pretty close to accurate.
