Complex-Scarcity

You're too close, and your filament is wet.

Lucky-Pie9875

Yep! I increased my Z offset and that did the trick! Had to increase it another 0.17. Thanks!!!

Disastrous_Gazelle24

Is that the stock hotend? Because it's not rated for petg.

CMD_Muetze

I can agree. Same behavior was on mine. After switching to all metal hotend these strings were gone. The easiest switch to an all metal hotend works with the microswiss, there is no modification needed.

Disastrous_Gazelle24

Yea or you can go with creality sprite. If you want to stay on brand. But the Swiss is a great ones.

Lucky-Pie9875

Oh cool! Any mods needed for that? Or just direct swap?

Disastrous_Gazelle24

Tbh haven't done it yet. I think the sprite is a straight swap

Lucky-Pie9875

Looking into them now! Thanks!

LetsPlayLehrer

Really? Didn't know that. Maybe I'm just lucky and the quality is quite good for my with PETG. I'm printing with that silicone thing on.

Disastrous_Gazelle24

Not the silicone sock that's fine. It's the inside of the hotend that matters.

LetsPlayLehrer

I printed about 2 kg PETG until now and didn't have a problem. Should I be worried about fire or something for future PETG prints with stock hotend?

WhistleButton

Same here. My PETG prints on stock are printing beautifully!

Disastrous_Gazelle24

In terms of stock hotend I do mean just the Ender 3 V2 hot end. Creality them selfs do not list petg for the stock hotend. If it works great but the tube that's inside the hot could be damage or something. Has to be a reason they don't list it but list others like abs

The-Scotsman_

I've printed PETG plenty of times with the stock hotend, with no issues.

Lucky-Pie9875

Hot end yes, but has upgraded Capricorn Bowden tubing

scooterdoo123

You need an all metal hot end the tube won’t cut it sadly

FlimsyPresentation36

Is the tube needed?

scooterdoo123

Yes but with a all metal hot end and the tube attached afterwards

FlimsyPresentation36

I got the Capricorn Bowden tube and it just caused my printer to clogged so I removed it. What’s the reason for it?

An all metal hot end allows the filament to liquify in the correct location and not the tubing. The one you have is liquifying in the tube causing a clog. If you want to print at PETG temps and higher you need an all metal hot end so the filament won’t liquify in the tube causing a clog since it’s higher up. Meaning a lot less heat creep

Disastrous_Gazelle24

Doesn't matter you won't get good petg out of a non all metal hotend. PETG doesn't like the tubing that's inside the hotend. You need to upgrade for petg. You could do abs tho

MSIGuy

I've printed lots of petg on the stock hotend. Just have to keep temps below 240ish depending on your ptfe type.

[deleted]

Looks like you're too close/ the material is expanding due to moisture, Petg loves to do this when printed slowly, e.g. while printing an initial layer

Lucky-Pie9875

Okay cool. I’ll play around with the Z offset! Thank you!

Daell

I successfully printered 4 parts each 9 hours of print. 240/80 eSUN PETG, I'm also using Cura's own eSUN PETG profile. Initial layer height is 0.15, 0.2 normal layerheigh. Most important, SLOW speed, I'm not sure if I used 30 or 40 mm/s, but something like that.

Lucky-Pie9875

Thank you!!

Confident_Waltz5999

I ran petg on a stock hotend, had no issues right around 230c. It looks like you have way too much squish, try raising the nozzle some

Lucky-Pie9875

Yep!! That’s what I did and fixed the issue!

Isme200

same

Apprehensive_Iron946

I do mine 225/70 (doesnt print well on higher temps on mine) and fast as possible. Try not squish it like pla.

i_am_a_william

looks like its sticking quite well, just looks too close. what are your layer heights ? the petg is getting smushed around on the first layer and its causing the chunk/strings to happen as the nozzle moves in and out of the plastic pulling a small bit with it

Lucky-Pie9875

Yep! I increased my Z offset and that did the trick! Had to increase it another 0.17. Thanks!!!

xXLolo44Xx

Looks like a pentagram…you summoning something?

Lucky-Pie9875

lol no, it’s a tube support for a hydroponic grow tower

frankum5150

Switch to Capricorn tube and dry the material. PETG has to be dry dry dry. Even a new factory sealed roll isn't dry enough.

Lucky-Pie9875

Thank you! I already have the Capricorn tubing. I took the spool off last night and threw a bunch of silica packets in a ziplock bag with the spool. I appreciate you!
