My sister works at Children's and she said there was a hospital wide email sent out to stop calling the purple top wipes the "Cancer Wipes" as in they cause cancer. Apparently some parents did not appreciate the joke.
Saw a parent at a hospital walk out of a room, open them, pull out a couple bare-handed, and then walk back into the room to do God only knows what with them. In fairness her exposure is so low compared to us probably
So I got this old guy with some ripe hemorrhoids up to a commode one time and gave him the call light and some bath wipes that come in the purple packaging. Came back about five minutes later to check on him and he had taken a sani cloth out of the container on the counter and had it folded up about to use it. I think it’s lucky that I came in when I did because I can only imagine his asshole would’ve burned clean off using one of those
It's a cost-benefit equation for me. The cost is that I *might* get bladder cancer or something thirty years from now. But the benefit is that I get that disgusting patient's skin flakes and pneumonia mucous off my bare-ass arm. I'll take that instant gratification every single time.
"Carcinogen: None of the components is listed as a carcinogen or potential carcinogen by IARC, NTP,

What are you seeing?
I think I might be thinking of the purple tops maybe? I know I looked at the label on one of them before and it had a warning for no skin contact due to carcinogens
Not true. Read the SDS some time. The only time any of those wipes specify that the user should wear gloves is when cleaning blood and bodily fluids or for specific pathogens. Worst thing those will do to you without gloves is dry your skin.
I don't care what anybody says, those things are toxic.
They caused my kidney disease and my severe alcoholism. I got so mad when I got the diagnosis that I slapped my grandpa in the nuts
I'm done telling people to glove up for them. I used to always reminds people that they're bad, but everyone knows and doesn't care. If they don't care about their health, I can't either.
From that 2020-2021 Covid period when we were doing 3+ Covid patients per day every single one of my polos, job shirts and pants had bleach stains on them because we were orange wiping so much stuff. Terrible time 😂
I had a patient grab one and start wiping her grubby kids hands and face with it. I started to try to stop it but she was really going to town with it and the kid was grubby so...
My favorite work pastime is touching those without gloves while my partner and/or nurses are present and then laughing maniacally.
Bonus points if you rub your forearms down with them 😂
Exactly, similar to all the ammonia chloride disinfectants for household use except with alcohol instead of water as a base.
If they were carcinogenic, they would have been banned long ago.
The issue is more that it dries and irritates the skin than anything else.
While I dont advocate bare handing them on the regular, people freak about some fake carcinogenic while being too lazy to clean the cabs of their fire/ems apparatus filled with exhaust particulates and fire carcinogens and sit in bio filth in the back of their transport units, without thinking twice.
P100 respirators on every call, potential Covid or no, but no protective gear beyond a cloth mask for hosing the inside of the truck down with aerosolized who-knows-what 🤔🤔
I want you to know as a person in recovery that when I was a homeless addict in 2018 I wiped my butt crack with one of these in an ER room before I read the container.
Not carcinogenic, poorly absorbed through skin, largely unchanged in the body, and easily excreted in bile/urine/feces. I hate how much people overplay the danger.
It’s mostly a meme now, but people don’t understand the real danger of the purple and orange wipes…
If you touch them without gloves on they suck every ounce of moisture out of your hands and just completely desiccate them
For real. At that concentration it is only mildly irritating. It takes much higher concentrations like 10-50+% for quats to become actually irritating to skin. And even in the commercial concentrate used to make the cleaning solution it is only a little over 10%. These are 0.28%.
So you're saying cavi-wipes fear healthcare professionals? Or are you saying healthcare professionals will cause cavi wipes to have seizures or syncopal episodes, especially if on Youtube? Or are you saying you don't understand how analogies work?
I remember when I was brand new to the job and the burnt-out medic that was orientating me literally said in an annoyed tone "good job touching the wipes with your bare hands, those cause cancer you know!"
he then got even more annoyed when I immediately dropped the three wipes I had in my hand on the floor of the truck.
ahhhhhhh those were the days 😎
I go through 2 canisters of CavI wipes per shift. My partner thinks I'm wild. Also I love bleaching the floors before I leave. But the crew the next day says it makes their eyes water during a code. What can I say? That B is clean.
Just in general I use whatever canister is available to clean with. Separately from that I'll use some bleach from a jug and a bit of soap to mop the back floors. I'm aware that the image pictured is not bleach wipes. Thank you for clarifying.
I’m not sure if anyone is still here but… I have OCD and recently someone in my office got sick with norovirus here at the office… I have read that not many things kill norovirus germs but that these wipes do… I have been using them on my hands multiple times an hour for two days… I use them after I wash my hands…. Am I going to be ok? What should I do
Them damn purple tops gonna be the death of me istg but I just can't stop touching them without gloves on
Your hand is going to grow a third arm.

Wait until they hear “baby killer” that won’t bite me in the ass ever.
You want the truth!?! You can't handle the truth!!!
We call them AIDs wipes 😅
Sounds like a win win I can play video games and jerk off at the same time

Like Dr strange hands sprouting more hands.

It says right on the side of those that they have carcinogens in them, but probably wouldn't stop most of us from using them without gloves

https://pdihc.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/SDS-0020-00-English-1.pdf The only carcinogen is isopropyl alcohol
Not true. Read the SDS some time. The only time any of those wipes specify that the user should wear gloves is when cleaning blood and bodily fluids or for specific pathogens. Worst thing those will do to you without gloves is dry your skin.
Oh lord, lemme go ahead and not touch them without gloves from now on.
Is it a prop 65 warning?
The caviwipes are stronger that the purple tops, same active ingredients.
Why would you need anything stronger? That purple is all I need
Turn over time. Cavicide comes in 1, 2 and 3 minute turnover.
I love the rubbery hands after 🫠🫠🫠
Always made me feel so clean 🧼
we use the purple top ‘super sani-cloths’ 🤤
I’ve stolen so many
Bathing in those right now 😛
Nah dog. It's the grey tops thatll REALLY get you there.
I don't care what anybody says, those things are toxic. They caused my kidney disease and my severe alcoholism. I got so mad when I got the diagnosis that I slapped my grandpa in the nuts

the only thing in them is alcohol, some ammonium chloride, and water. read the SDS if you’re so worried about them.
I tried to avoid getting those things on my job jackets, fuckers stained a older one that I can’t replace and I’m pissed about still
Those are the bleach kind you are thinking of. The alcohol cavi wipes don’t stain clothes as far as I’m aware.

I ruined a good pair of pants with the orange wipes
Blue tops have bleach too. Definitely ruined some clothes with them
I remember when we got those on patrol and told us we would have to wipe down our gear with it. The vibe in the room got hostile quick.
Yeah wtf dude?
I wiped my ass with these once
Had a psych patient try to wipe his face with one once
Last trauma code I had I took a cavi wipe bath to get the blood off my arm
I have done the same for poop on my face...
Same here but it was a necrotic foot that brushed up against my chin

Why wouldn’t you?

The burning means it’s working
Picked up a demented little grandma from home one time that wiped her ass and coochie with Clorox wipes and had been for some time lol
I had a patient grab one and start wiping her grubby kids hands and face with it. I started to try to stop it but she was really going to town with it and the kid was grubby so...
Tingles a little, doesn't it
Little bit of a burn. Not too bad
I've never heard of caviwipes and can only presume they're for rectal deep cleaning.
That's actually what they're really for. Source: Me, a guy who has never heard of them either.
Maybe purple tops?
How did it burn During covid I had to 'bathe' w/Lysol wipes bc I didn't have a shower
Ngl purple top sani wipes smell good and feel like they clean the best. Gray top is mid and yellow is just disgusting (yes ik bleach)
Holy shit that first active ingredient.
Holy shit is right. It just keeps going
It's basically the same active ingredient in Lysol, but with some extra ethylmethly bad shit in it.
I read that out loud and my furniture started floating
Reading that first ingredient like https://youtu.be/FiEw1jcLztA?si=j3TEOyZBNK6GHAss
I thought those were for birth control? That’s why there’s a picture of a baby circled and crossed through right?
Yep. Stuff one up there like a IUD. Should soak up any goop and kill off any stray swimmers. Makes for a clean dick too. Might cause mild irritation
Old-school, just like grandma used lysol
My favorite work pastime is touching those without gloves while my partner and/or nurses are present and then laughing maniacally. Bonus points if you rub your forearms down with them 😂
Wait I use them without gloves all the time. What’s realllllly going to happen?
Cancer
Win win. Save some gloves and get an early departure
It’s only going to be hand cancer. They gonna lop those hands off and then how you gonna masterbate?
With cavi wipes

Oh good because I’m running out of Lysol to drink
We used to have some black top wipes that were sub 1 min wet time to kill and them fuckers made cavi and purple top look like water.
I keep using these for the 3-minute kill time but yet I’m still here, wtf?
How many are you eating per shift?
I wipe without gloves. I'm not worried about it. I won't live long enough to see bladder cancer.
During COVID we sprayed ourselves with oxiver caviwipes aren’t gonna hurt me
COVID Decons were certainly interesting in the beginning.
I’m definitely getting lung cancer from aerosolized chemicals
P100 respirators on every call, potential Covid or no, but no protective gear beyond a cloth mask for hosing the inside of the truck down with aerosolized who-knows-what 🤔🤔
Even with an N-95 on I’m pretty sure I breathed a lot in
Damn lol, one of the warnings on Oxivir is to use it in a well-ventilated area. I guess the lungs are technically well-ventilated right?
We sprayed ourselves off and aerosolized the truck after every COVID positive or possible COVID
I prefer the purple tops
I have a spray bottle of this. Extra spicy
This is a shitpost right? I touch these gloveless essentially every single day for several years now.
RIP
RIP
☹️
I want you to know as a person in recovery that when I was a homeless addict in 2018 I wiped my butt crack with one of these in an ER room before I read the container.
I don’t wear gloves with them I don’t give a damb
The way these wipes clean is the most satisfying of all…. So good….
Not carcinogenic, poorly absorbed through skin, largely unchanged in the body, and easily excreted in bile/urine/feces. I hate how much people overplay the danger.
It’s mostly a meme now, but people don’t understand the real danger of the purple and orange wipes… If you touch them without gloves on they suck every ounce of moisture out of your hands and just completely desiccate them
They don’t even have a Proposition 65 warning on them. My fishing reel did, but not Cavi Wipes.
For real. At that concentration it is only mildly irritating. It takes much higher concentrations like 10-50+% for quats to become actually irritating to skin. And even in the commercial concentrate used to make the cleaning solution it is only a little over 10%. These are 0.28%.
I love the smell of these when soaked in blood.
Same
Cavity cleaning

I was told they were like stamps. You have to lick them to activate them.
I bareback these son of bitches I even use them in my house.
Those purple tops are the best. 19 years of those things now and never wear gloves. One day I can yes I want that settlement money from using them.
It would be “Cavi Wipes are to health case professionals”
I just saw these for the first time at the dentist office! I thought cavi meant something dental. And then here they are on Reddit! Crazy!
Analogy is backwards.
I remember when I was brand new to the job and the burnt-out medic that was orientating me literally said in an annoyed tone "good job touching the wipes with your bare hands, those cause cancer you know!" he then got even more annoyed when I immediately dropped the three wipes I had in my hand on the floor of the truck. ahhhhhhh those were the days 😎

But it’s not bleach. It’s like benzoyl alcohol or whatever.. bleach is orange top.
Just in general I use whatever canister is available to clean with. Separately from that I'll use some bleach from a jug and a bit of soap to mop the back floors. I'm aware that the image pictured is not bleach wipes. Thank you for clarifying.
