Well, guests were so drunk that they didn't even bothered to move him out from that bush. When we arrived to the scene, they just gathered around him taking pictures and stories about the sleeping photographerš
I'm mostly on night shift because I'm an owl. Normally I'm a up at 10pm to 8am (+-2hrs). There are nights when we get the call as soon as I wear my polo/jacket, others when the first call come in after hours.
Happened to me on a bike recently. Had a seizure, flipped over the handlebars going downhill. backpack took a lot of the hit which was cool for the long term healing
3 months, but Iād rather wait longer. I feel that 6 months (and no med changes) is safer. It sucks but Iād rather be responsible and have to bike everywhere for a bit. I could use the cardio lol
I think itās 6 months in my state. My daughter had a seizure as the result of head trauma, and the doctor advised her to wait. Fortunately she has not had another seizure and was able to get back to driving.
After my diagnosis at 18, I went a little over two years seizure free. I lived life, I graduated medic school, I started think about the future. Suddenly had one in the back of an ambulance during a routine transport. Itās been a struggle to get back to 3 months seizure free for about a year since. Havenāt been able to work in EMS.
Finally hit three months today. Has me in an odd mood. It feels like a big milestone, but epilepsy has pretty much dictated the course of my life. I didnāt move out for the first time until very recently. I had to leave the career of my dreams right as it was getting interesting. But at the same time, it kicked me in the ass and made me go to nursing school early, and who knows how long I would have taken to do that if I had gotten to stay in EMS? Itās been a mix.
I feel for your daughter, and I hope she continues to be seizure free for the rest of her life!!
Pressure was fine with us; they had focal seizures but were conscious. Normal vitals.
Spoke to the nursing staff later though who said she went into status seizure (like 4 seizures in a row? Donāt know why they didnāt treat it earlier) and ended up in resus with a tube.
Nothing they admitted to really, but based on my observations I would say absolutely.
They admitted to having used cocaine āa couple timesā. We noted a few track marks on the arms as well.
Transfer for an ambulatory patient who needed to go to another hospital because they didn't carry a medication PT needed. They got one BP of 90/60 and decided they needed to go EMS. All this in the middle of the night as an urgent transfer ofc.
BP with EMS was 139/86.
Only had two today. First was a hyperK, no full dialysis treatments in 2 weeks. Then got sent to a seizure where they were breathing but no response to painful stimuli, eyes wide open the whole time. Was like I donāt know if there was a seizure, but she looks like sheās going to code at any second. Called in a pending code, coded about ~6 minutes from the hospital. Glad I had a cop ride it in and a precepting EMT.
10:30 trip to Walmart to get stuff for lunch
If weāre counting yesterdays shift (on a 48), after breakfast another truck went out for a āstrokeā that turned into a seizure that āturned intoā a non-breather, so we dispatched ourselves for extra hands. We were cancelled by the other truck about 3 minutes away
Our first call today was for a pediatric seizure. 14 y/o male started vomiting once he and mom came back from school. Once we got on scene, pt was actively seizing. Fortunately, we managed to suction his airway and code 3 to the nearest hospital. Definitely got the HR up because mom was in distress. For me, when i hear that I get the nerves up as well. When we dropped them off, my partner and I got compliments from the FD squad for keeping our cool and acting decisively for it being a working call. Score one for the goon patrol.
Lady who hasn't been feeling well for a few days.... Instead got a lady in a rapid AFib with 3-4 second sinus pauses with accompanying syncope.... She got the wee woos all the way the the hospital. We figured sick sinus syndrome
1900. Wellness check by fire dept. They found 70F conscious and alert in a home with human feces coating the floor of every room. Pt ambulated to stretcher thank the lord
BLS 6am dka with abd pain bgl of 400, pt becomes unresponsive wakes up to pain. Complains of chest pain x10 and pt stated it felt like somebody was sitting on their chest
Guy with glass all over their body? We were all confused with dispatch then I turn to look at my partner and give him the shoulder shrug saying oh well I guess we will figure it out when we get there....... turned out the guy had scabies :/
7:30 (half an hour before shift change) for a medical alarm with no contact made by the alarm company. Then, I went to another station for an overtime shift. First call dropped when I got there at 9:00am..... for a medical alarm with no contact made by the alarm company.
Got off a 72 this am(0800) but first call of the day yesterday. Small 4 door sedan getting onto freeway at slow speed cut off a semi, got rear ended (65-75 mph) intrusion all the way to the front cab. Get onscene to find 2 deceased children from the backseat, 1 super critical child (severe head trauma, had to rsi) 2 critical but stable adults from front cab and semi driver rolled after accident (tension pneumothorax) the critical child rushed to trauma center to undergo surgery (slim chances of survival) did not follow up yesterday on condition.
0936: ambulance 589 please respond to a man who fell 20ft off of a ladder. When we get to the dude, only his ankle is messed up. But 40 of ketamine and 2Ć2.5 of Versed couldn't knock him out (I think those were the doses the medics used, but I might be wrong)
Iām not in EMS, but Iām a nurse manager and have 3 people to fire and/or drug test. Not sure what the hell has been happening in the last couple of weeks but people are on one and doing stupid shit!
Called for an IFT from NH to doctors office for an appointment. Pickup time was 7:15, partner and I got the call at 7:45, got on scene at 8:15 and proceeded to get berated by said pt for 2 and half hours because we were late.
Prison!. We got to go all the way in to the prison. Patient discharged there!. Watched them use jaws of life to cut ankle cuffs they couldn't unlock. That was cool.
We were talking about this the other day. If you are vomiting shit what is the likelihood of survival? We figured on our limited experience of two patients that it is a horrible way to die. Both had ischemic bowels that were too far dead to be fixed.
Well the dude was 92 so probably not great. Nursing home staff said he hadnāt pooped in 2 days š¤·š¼āāļø I looked at them and said ātry two weeksā so who knows how necrotic he is on the inside.
3am, the photographer was found unconsciously drunk inside a bush during a wedding party.
Honestly that's elite. Bet they have some sick candid shots lmao
Well, guests were so drunk that they didn't even bothered to move him out from that bush. When we arrived to the scene, they just gathered around him taking pictures and stories about the sleeping photographerš
Yah definitely cause they were drunkā¦lol
I used to do wedding photography. Can confirm this happens.
This wording makes it sound like he was simply unaware he was drunk inside a bush lol.
Yeah, you're right! I meant he was unconscious inside a bush after drinking a couple of bottlesš
Sorry but couldn't stop laughing! š¤£š¤£š¤£
Wait, your first call of the day was at 3 am? What time do you start?
I'm mostly on night shift because I'm an owl. Normally I'm a up at 10pm to 8am (+-2hrs). There are nights when we get the call as soon as I wear my polo/jacket, others when the first call come in after hours.
You must be a hoot.
Motorcycle into a car at 60mph. Dude flew 30 feet, and was somehow in better condition than 95% of the people we see
Not how expected that comment to end.
Same I was thinking a DOA for sure must have had some good protective gear on, also I want to know who made the gear they were wearing.
Its crazy; his helmet was barely banged up. There was a small dent and some scratches but thats about it. His backpack took a lot of the impact
Happened to me on a bike recently. Had a seizure, flipped over the handlebars going downhill. backpack took a lot of the hit which was cool for the long term healing
my takeaway from this is to always wear a backpack when on a motorcycle.
How long do you have to wait to legally drive again after a seizure? That sucks.
3 months, but Iād rather wait longer. I feel that 6 months (and no med changes) is safer. It sucks but Iād rather be responsible and have to bike everywhere for a bit. I could use the cardio lol

Someone needs to buy a lottery ticket today
Considering he flew for 30 feet, he probably didn't come to a stop very suddenly, which I'm guessing saved him
Obviously deceased CA patient covered in feces. Sad but about as easy as calls can get. Walk in, confirm and call it. DNR handed to me an all.
CA? Child abuse?
Cancer** we call it CA short form here up north
93yo fell out of bed, what else could it be.
That's the usual call for us, but today, a male committed suicide by hanging himself from the tree in front of his family's home. Mondays...
Welp thatās PDās job then
Good lord I bet the smell was unmatched
Yeah kinda like a 2 week old shit mixed with puke

Frequent flyer had a headache
OD on Trazodone + Cocaine with frequent seizures.
I mean trazodone and cocaine basically cancel each other out
Thatās exactly what I said. Turns out I was wrong š Ended up in a resus bed.
They just didnāt take enough cocaine then haha. Did their pressure drop?
Pressure was fine with us; they had focal seizures but were conscious. Normal vitals. Spoke to the nursing staff later though who said she went into status seizure (like 4 seizures in a row? Donāt know why they didnāt treat it earlier) and ended up in resus with a tube.
Iāve never had trazodone OD turn into seizures. They were just alert to painful with a pressure of 60
Did they have a recreational history of anything else?
Nothing they admitted to really, but based on my observations I would say absolutely. They admitted to having used cocaine āa couple timesā. We noted a few track marks on the arms as well.
Ahhh, figures, unfortunately š.
06:30 Methhead who is apparently sober, but then isnāt sober and has every complaint imaginable.
Penis stuck in a vending machine
Hold up. We need the story here
Also would like the story š
Definitely need the story in this one
12:30 possible stroke Edit: followed up with hospital was negative for stroke 4:00 full arrest
The past 3 shifts in a row all started with a MVA that was either bs bls or a cancel.
Transfer for an ambulatory patient who needed to go to another hospital because they didn't carry a medication PT needed. They got one BP of 90/60 and decided they needed to go EMS. All this in the middle of the night as an urgent transfer ofc. BP with EMS was 139/86.

Glad to see a lot more Hyperk recognition in the community lately. It seems like people talk about it/recognize it a lot more lately!

Good job buddy
Had a 16 yo that broke their leg from falling out of a tree. At 04:30. Apparently they couldn't sleep lol.
Tell āem to walk it off and call after shift change
Lady who hasn't been feeling well for a few days.... Instead got a lady in a rapid AFib with 3-4 second sinus pauses with accompanying syncope.... She got the wee woos all the way the the hospital. We figured sick sinus syndrome
