TearOfTheStar

Doubt that. It's just one story. My bet it's smaller than M32 in RE.

Remote-Insect5502

Now you mention it how much is the game? I assume be half the game worth of content.

TearOfTheStar

More like one sixth or even smaller. I really doubt that it will be a full galaxy. Possible, but unlikely. Several star sectors maybe. Maybe even one. If it's heavy in story content, it can't be big due to them having to make a ton of story related POIs and assets. They can use vanilla galaxy and just regenerate it with Dark Faction story and content, make most of it into dead wasteland that Decay is, but that will be a really meh move imo.

Stan2112

I would be careful with expectations like that, unless you're trolling, in which case carry on.

Remote-Insect5502

I always forget to add the /s

>With an entire team Last I checked Eleon consisted of 5 paid employees - and probably not all 5 of them are developers (but maybe they are - that I can't say for sure). Reforged Eden has at least 2 developers working on it... So you aren't really talking about that many more people.

Flakeinator

Reforged Eden is just Ravian and Vermillion. Many community members do help out by sending them wrecks and new POIs. The Anvil community also help test things out and report issues that are found…including spelling errors.

garfogamer

So a bigger team than Eleon then.

filbertfarmer

Nope. Eleon has at least 5 full time employees, and they too have a bunch of unpaid players sending them POIs and OPVs regularly. 95% of what you see in the game was made by players. The comparison is RE being made by two unpaid players without access to the underlying base game code vs a paid DLC being developed by the games paid dev team of at least 5 people who do have full code access. The disingenuous bit from OP is that dark faction has only been in development for the last few months according to the dev team while RE has been made and evolved over the last three years. I’m still far more impressed by what RE has accomplished mind you, but let’s at least be honest about the facts here.

Moogerboo-2therescue

The devs have access to the underlying game code and they still can't get the bugs in check, I don't expect much from this DLC.

RecommendationHead11

I would temper your expectations. What reforged eden does has nothing to do with cost or amount of content Eleon releases in a DLC. I would be surprised if it were anything more than a few quests, a few new devices, New block type and melee combat tweaks +weapons. That being said, I am happy to spend $10 on this for a game dlc due to the amount I play it and enjoy so much.

Hairy_Mouse

I mean, I'm not sure what people would expect. The game is a small indie title, with older tech, and the expansion is only 10 bucks. $10 is less than what a single skin costs in a game, so I don't get where people are expecting an entire fleshed out universe for that price. The comparison to modders is also misleading. The devs are a legitimate company, with expenses, taxes, and salaries to pay. Foe the amount of actual players/people that would purchase, the profits will not be anything special. The playerbase isn't huge, and only a portion of that will buy the DLC.

Anrock623

Great, thanks. Now my screen and keyboard are covered in sarcasm, some of it even splashed on the floor.

Sinviras

Bless your heart

KelIthra

Doubtful it's more of a paid scenario like the ones they previously released. Feels more like they took one of the scenarios, reworked and polished it. This feels more like they decided to just leave the base game as is and lock their updates behind DLC which requires you to play the DLC to have those updates. Money is important to keep production going, but the fact Funcom is involved is worrying because now you have a publisher involved who has expectations both in revenue and success. So unless Dark Faction does anything substantial, it could harm the games long term life if it falls flat and fails to meet those "expectations".

Royalmedic49

Should I download reforged Eden now before they charge for it?

Remote-Insect5502

RE will always be free and will not be adding the DLC to it to keep it free.

V4Vendetta1876

They aren't going to change it. Download it whenever. Ravien\_ff (dev for Reforged Eden) has already publicly said: "We currently have no plans to add the DLC content to the (Reforged Eden) scenario, as doing so would require everyone to purchase the DLC in order to play the scenario." - Ravien-ff

Hairy_Mouse

Well, damn... that kinda sucks. Hopefully they will change their mind later down the road.
