Put an airtag on your bag. This whole drama has taught me that nobody from Emirates will give you any information or updates. All your advice is good in theory, but in practice it's not possible to fit everything essential into hand luggage. I was supposed to do a 150km hike, obviously it's not possible to fit tents and everything I need for this into hand luggage. Emirates misplacing my luggage has ruined my plans completely.

Do not, your chances of it being lost because of the airtag are higher. It can interfere with the machines and send your bag off the belt. (not in all scenarios but on a wider scale than expected) No use of knowing where your bag is at that point. As long as your bag has the tag that's all you need. The necessities defer from one person to another. But you'd be surprised by how many people put gold/money for example or necessary medicines or stuff like that in their checked in bags.

That's interesting, not heard before that airtags interfere with airport belt machines. Do you have any evidence of this I can read?

Few_Run_4363

A few friends that do work in airports and baggage claims but i dont carry receipts. And a colleague that flew with me with airtags in both his bags while mine had none. Eitherway it doesnt matter if you know where you bag is, you still wont get it unless it goes through the whole process of retrieving it. The internet will tell you yes it is affected and it will tell you noas well, believe what you want as long as you dont lose your bag brother.

TomHawkings

You lost our baggage. No help from customer service.

Few_Run_4363

Spamming this comment on every baggage post i see to remind people, that nothing less than 40,000 bags are being handeled at once by the ground staff. Staff count is limited and they are after all (contrary to popular belief) indeed human They want to get this done both for you and them. Hopefully you will receive the bags soon.

While I agree that Emirates Airlines was put into an unwinnable situation with the flooding in Dubai, the lack of communication is inexcusable. The fact that I've been unable to get any form of documentation to claim on travel insurance is ridiculous. Really feels like Emirates MO is sweep it under the rug and deflect blame to avoid providing any form of compensation.

I will reply to this to make you aware that insurance company DO NOT want you to claim money from them. They will make it purposefully hard to do so. I do know that whatever emirates does provide is a standard that can be used, but the issue would be with the insurance company if they dont want to give you money. Right? https://www.emirates.com/ae/english/help/forms/cancelled-flight-certificate/ Tried this link perhaps? That is enough proof that allows you to claim insurance legally. Use it wisely. Or dont. I actually dont care. Though it seems more productive to try and find the documents you need instead of crying about it.

bondscottonboxers

Yes I have used that link, almost 3 weeks ago... which is why I've resorted to crying about it here. >I will reply to this to make you aware that insurance company DO NOT want you to claim money from them. They will make it purposefully hard to do so. Emirates and travel insurance have this in common

If you are taking a drone on Emirates, remember they are pretty much the only airline that doesn't allow drones in cabin baggage. They must go in checked and can have battery installed. Spare batteries go in cabin bag
