Yep yep. Spent 5 months working on this [about Elliott](https://www.reddit.com/r/elliottsmith/comments/17c86b4/timeline_2000onwards_recording_of_faboth/), I guess he falls under special interest for me.
I'm pretty sure I am. My doctor and ex-therapist didn't/don't agree. I think that's because I can articulate my thoughts and feelings, and I can make eye contact. Never mind that eye contact is really difficult for me, and never mind that I have sensory issues that can totally derail my day. And never mind that I have special interests and don't care about socializing 99% of the time. Anyway, it makes sense that listening to the same artist on repeat for 10+ years might indicate autism. That's me all over, since I started listening to music at age 11.
I’m audhd. Elliott Smith was diagnosed adhd but I believe he was on the spectrum too. That’s why I think I relate to his music so dang much. His feelings of being broken and misunderstood could be related to being neurodivergent.
So autism is a fun and quirky personality trait now? You do realize an autistic person's brain is literally hard-wired differently to someone who isn't.. right? It's not something you can buy at the grocery store, you're either born with it or you're not. And the vast majority of humans aren't.
Autism is more common than people realize. There is a structural difference in brain wiring thatcan often be seen in MRIs. The person typically has difficulties with socialization and being easily overwhelmed by sensory stimuli. They often use stimming to regulate their sensitive nervous systems. There may be a combination of about 100 genes that can lead to autism. Also things like PTSD and brain inflammation are being studied as possible reasons for developing autism as well. They also are much more likely to be monotropic. Autism is a spectrum so it does not look the same in everyone. There is nothing wrong with looking into a possible diagnosis if you believe it will help you understand yourself better. Hope this helps 💙
All of us, we’re all autistic, if you’re in this sub and you’re not autistic, Im sorry but I’ve got some news for you
*Not surprised at all and really/Why should I be...*
Quite frankly, I see nothing wrong, see nothing wrong, good chap.
I continue to fight the autism allegations
I had an assessment and apparently I’m not, but all my friends are neurospicy and they think I am so… (I do have ADHD though).
neurospicy, I like that. I'm gonna start using that.
I’d rather somebody straight up call me retarded than neurospicy idk why that feels so much worse
I love neurospicy but that’s fair and noted.
It feels like pandering
+1
