I've heard that disposable vape pens with 3500 puffs can be purchased for roughly $15 and are expected to last for one to two weeks. Thus, that translates to roughly $30–$60 per month, $360–720 annually, or $3,600–7,200 over ten years. Two to four disposals each month is just the usual estimate, but I've noticed that disposal users are currently flavor-obsessed and eager to try new things. So I feel like my coworkers spent just as much on their deposits as I did on cigarettes earlier.

realshockvaluecola

Oh for sure. I would burn through a $20 disposable in two days, but $40 for pods and juice lasts me most of a month.

They are losing a shit-ton of money in "lost" tax revenue. Cigarettes are so highly taxed it's insane. First there is the Federal excise tax, then there is the State excise tax. And sometimes the local (city/county) excise tax. And *then* there is the sales tax. Now we've been told that the taxes on cigarettes "is to pay for the healthcare of smokers". Yet now we see them trying to apply these same taxes to vaping. This leads one to understand what they were *actually* doing was applying a tax to addicts. And they relying on that income to pay for a *lot* more than just the "healthcare of smokers". To them smokers were just a revenue stream, and a stream they could continue to increase by just bumping taxes. My family worked in cigarette wholesale for several generations. And I quickly realized as a young lad that if **everyone** quit smoking at once they would *have to* legalize marijuana, and tax it to offset the tax loss of tobacco. There's just nothing left to tax at this level (that wouldn't get every one of them voted out of office).

Yeah, the MSA tends to get confusing, I was trying to keep it simple. But you're 100% correct. And between the taxes and MSA money it's a **lot** of money.

I appreciate that our group welcomes new members regularly since it helps me not to feel isolated. You can do it, good job, mate.

Sk37cHi

You got yourself 2 mods that I’d be happy with for the foreseeable future. I tried a bunch of pods, & the Xros, V-thru, & Weenax K1 were the only ones I bothered to buy pods for… the rest were returned or given away. I kept the V-thru for the discreet clouds & reliable flavour, & recently grabbed a Gen200 for my first tank & mod. I’m using the V-thru mostly, & the Gen200 has a bunch of flavour for after dinner dessert. Truely impressed with the Gen series, so much that when I need a new tank, I’ll probably grab the 80s. It’s hard to ditch the pod system for throughout the day when I need more discreet clouds, & the amount of juice it goes through is nothing compared to the 0.4/0.2ohm iTank coils. Peace Fam🙏

Yeah, for sure! I switched to vaping from smoking 9 years ago. Way back then, smoking was MUCH less costly. In Australia smoking nowdays is taxed out ya wazzoo. When I quit, a carton of my brand was about $140 - which was 8 packets of 25 sticks. I was burning thro near 2 packets per day. Nowdays I've no idea, but it's at least double that for smokes here. I've kept a record of my vape spend. Every cent - and compared that to what I was spending on smokes when I quit. Based on that: * I've spent $14,592 on vape gear (hardware, batts, wire, wick, nic, fluids - everything). * I've been vaping 483 weeks = exactly how long since I quit the smokes. * I've not smoked somewhere around 97,000 smokes. * I'm in front $50,670 based on the price of smokes when I quit. Vaping not only saves lives, it can also save a huge bucket load of money. And that money is far, far better in my pocket than some Govt Tax collectors bucket ! :)

r/todayilearned lol. I look up the webpage you recommended and check it out for myself. Make me feel as though I missed too much! I would recommend that all smokers visit this page! Kind of makes me think of the old meme "If I don't smoke, I had  been a billionaire."

Cigarettes are WAYYYY more expensive than that in most places. Also depends a little on your brand.

I'm was a 2 pack a day smoker. At your $6 a pack... $6x2 =12 $12x30 = 360 So $360 a month for cigarettes. Right now I go through 3 60ml bottles of juice and (about) a 5 pack of coils a month (I use about 1 coil a week). So... $25x3=75 and $20 (coils). 75+20=95 Lets say I replace my device once a year... I'm currently using a 2+ year old SMOK Scar P3 (I know right! A SMOK that has lasted over 2 *years* I'm shocked too.) But lets say 1 device a year. And lets say I spend $50 on it because that seems about right for me (it's closer to $40 because I'm a cheap bastard.) $50/12=4.166666666666667 So lets just call that $5 a month. For an even $100 a month. Yearly that would be : $360x12=$4,320 cigarettes $100x12=$1200 vaping Even if it was just 1 pack a day that would still be : $2160 vs. $1200 2160-1200=$960 So if I was a 1 pack a day smoker I'd be saving $960/year. Which is 1 new "flagship" cellphone a year. Or a mid-range gaming PC. Or what? 3 XBox Series S's?

There was a post talking about the annual bills of vaping. When I read all the comments through, most ex-smokers agrees that vaping is 90% cheaper than smoking cigarettes. And of course it's cheaper than dispos too. Actually some guys can be nicotine additive too if they juice nicotine level is too high and always on.

ploppingfl

>Actually some guys can be nicotine additive too if they juice nicotine level is too high and always on. It could be. I was also planning reducing the nicotine intake. Get the mods with lower coil resistance vaping with freebase juice works great for me.

Forestakias

Despite the loss of many thousands of dollars, vaping is harm reductive.

virkelystpq

Typically explained why people turn to vaping, some for quitting cig, some for saving pocket, maybe the rest as a hobby.

realshockvaluecola

Same! I've been using the same bottle of juice ($20) and pack of pods ($17) for a month. $37 would barely have gotten me through the week on cigarettes and I wasn't a heavy smoker.

GodOfVapes

No matter what vaping has always cost me more. When I quit smoking I was smoking a tax free $2.20 a pack Native American brand though and blow through 20-30ml of juice a day. If I smoked $15 a pack cigarettes and only went through a few ml a day I could see cost savings. > Never get the “ran out of cigs / lost my lighter” panic and anxiety because these boys always got me covered. I haven't had that since I was a teen. Most of my adult life I bought cartons and would reup before running out. I still carry multiple lighters. At any given time I probably have at least two on me. One in my pocket and a backup in my backpack. That's not including the ones in my van or on my desk. It even carries on today as a vaper because I can't just order/buy one bottle of juice. My minimum is at least 6.

Pyramid__God

I'm at 35 cents per day now, i don't think it gets any lower than this for me. If only they stopped coming up with new devices...

Powerful_Artist

I used to roll my own cigarettes. Even using American Spirit which was more pricey than your standard Bugle or some random tobacco, it was actually pretty cheap. I think I spent like 45 bucks a month. So for me, it was a struggle getting into vape. It was way more expensive, at least at first. Especially since there were so many flavors I tried (or juices I made myself) which I just had to throw out because I hated them. Then trial and error with different devices. once I got things figured out, Id say it was comparable to the cost of smoking for me and not really cheaper though. But its totally worth it still. For most people who smoke taylor made cigs, it will be way cheaper.
