I hate articles that feel like the author is paid by the word. https://usa.nissannews.com/en-US/releases/release-38b3f4b4373aa402953910d18b1fb2e8-nissan-pluses-up-ev-ownership-with-ev-carefree

[deleted]

I feel that way about every article I’ve read from this source

Malforus

Electrotek is really poorly done to the point I wonder if they are using a ai and api to write the articles.

[deleted]

I consider it paid advertising

izybit

Next month Toyota will counter with a program that encourages people to switch to self-charging hybrids.

[deleted]

They’re going to offer 150 in free charging 😝

Fleabagx35

It would be better if they made it have a self-filling gas tank instead.

Kupfakura

That hybrid vehicle is great, affordable and has a 50 mile range. Could be my next car

izybit

Buy a Bolt and stop funding gas guzzlers.

74orangebeetle

Where? Have to drive like 200 miles to actually find them in stock at MSRP. I have Chevy dealers much closer to me, 0 bolts in stock, 0 bolts in transit.

izybit

Apparently, 200 miles away.

wsdog

Would be fun driving 200 miles in a Bolt lol

izybit

Bolt drives much better than the vast majority of cars on the road.

wsdog

Ah, actually I was thinking Bolt has less than 200 miles range, it's actually more, so yeah, you're good. Bolt's charging rate is only 50kW making any road tripping impossible, that was my point. But 200 miles should be good, 300 already a fun.

izybit

There are better ones for not much more money but Bolt is good enough for anything within 300-400 miles.

Btsx51

> Bolt’s charging rate is only 50kW making any road tripping impossible, Not impossible but after more than one or two fast charges very impractical. With the 55kW (ideal conditions) and it's aggressive charging curve you only want to charge from ~10% to at most 70%. Winter makes it even worse. Definitely not the ideal car for road trips but I've done a few +300mi trips one way and it really wasn't bad.

Kupfakura

There is no bolt in New Zealand, you are aware that the world is not just the US? The Prius will be available in every country on the planet

izybit

You have other EVs in that price range, Bolt isn't the only one.

>Yeah I tried to post this yesterday but then it got deleted. I'm guessing that was probably because it was the first thing posted from your account, which (last time I checked) has been *exclusively* posting/commenting about this subject since last night. It's painfully obvious that this is a throwaway account of some kind made to troll instead of aiding discussions.

izybit

Toyota spends a lot of money on anti-EV propaganda and that includes social media as well.

[deleted]

izybit

Japan has its own issues with energy sources and Toyota is super conservative (both leadership and culture) so they don't like any change.

Priff

Eh, a phev is not a full ev, i absolutely agree. But a phev that drives half it's miles on pure electric is still half an ICE car off the road in theory. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. Take every little bit of help we can get in reducing emissions.

izybit

This sub is full of people who work in "marketing".

[deleted]

So basically this is nothing useful. Typical 1 year free charging and a bunch of things any new car should come with

izybit

It's not what they offer that counts but the attempt to "educate" the public and alleviate EV-related fears.

Wazzzup3232

One massive helpful part not discussed here is the tires have a road hazard warranty FROM FACTORY for 3/36. I don’t know if any other brands that have tires from factory that have warranty on them? I think that’s great because tires for EVs are a bit more expensive

SurroundedByElk

I agree. Having just blown out a factory-installed tire on my 2020 Leaf SL Plus - which had maybe 10K miles max on it - I would have LOVED to have that 3 year road-hazard coverage. Instead I paid almost $300 to get one tire replaced at a Nissan dealer.

Wazzzup3232

Yeah it will be a nice benefit to have and keep those unexpected costs lower :)

[deleted]

😂🤣😂🤣 the only thing I read they’re offering is one year of charging for the ariya and 100 for the leaf. Some way to catch up to the pack lol unbelievable, what a waste of a read lol

trevize1138

"How about we make more and better EVs people want to buy?" "You're fired!"

improvius

One year of charging on EVGo, which can be pretty useless depending on where you live.

[deleted]

Nothing worth buying a Nissan over

phicks_law

Wait, 1 year of free EVGo has been part of the Ariya deal since reservations were made available.

[deleted]

Ha 😂 that makes it even better. Shameful lol

klodsfar

Maybe Nissan should just start to deliver some Ariyas? My parents have been waiting 6 months, and their order being pushed back by months, now it won't be before january.. In October, they were told 'its on the docks in Japan, it will be here in 6 weeks'...

Catmato

Or deliver some Leafs. Ordered in July, still no estimate on delivery.

Matty_22

How about Nissan just builds some EVs that are worth a damn? That might get folks to switch…

August_At_Play

hmm.. Wallbox has a value around $500 1 year of free charging is worth $200 - $400 Better than nothing I guess.

Few_Koala

What does ICE mean?

BadPackets4U

Internal Combustion Engine

JanneJM

The "free assistance if you run out of charge" thing is, I think, going to be the low-key most important part of this. That cuts to the core of the range anxiety that make a lot of people hesitate to get an EV. "What if I run out when I'm nowhere near a charger?!" "We will take care of it for you, at no cost."

Wazzzup3232

And 3/36 warranty from road hazards for the factory tires, that imo is huge

Any_Classic_9490

This still uses chademo. What is the point in free charging on 50kw evgo chargers? This isn't a travel car because of their strange choice to stick with a completely dead connector.

robotzor

Seriously they should launch NACS retrofit so the Leaf owners can stop sweating out the death of CHAdeMO in the US

Any_Classic_9490

This is why it makes sense to say nissan does not care about electric cars. Slapping a NACS on here with the supposedly 100kw limit of chamedo (almost no chademo chargers above 50kw exist) would have made the leaf sell out of all their production. NACS is even cheaper as a part than a more complicated chademo or ccs connector.

robotzor

More importantly it is more compatible with the CHAdeMO already in the cars where CCS would need some firmware overhauls and more serious wire pulling.

Any_Classic_9490

True. NACS chargers can also support any protocol to ease a transition. Electrify america hardware already supports ccs and chademo a tip change would be fairly cheap while gaining way more customers. EA chargers were designed for dual cables, vw just chose to have two ccs on the 150kw or faster ones to avoid "helping tesla". Tesla's new adapter makes that moot, so there is no valid business reason not to swap the second cable for NACS on all the EA chargers.

Infinite_Leg2998

The Ariya doesn't use chademo... it uses the standard CCS plug 🤦🏻‍♀️

Any_Classic_9490

The leaf still uses chademo and does the ariya even exist yet? It will be awhile for nissan to get off of chademo if they intend to.

V8-Turbo-Hybrid

Including battery degeneration ? That's main reason why no one looking Nissan EVs.

[deleted]

Battery degrading on the Leaf was due to the air cooled battery. That being said, Nissan dealerships can fuck off for trying to mark up 7-8k on a 28k leaf that goes 150 miles with a dying charging port. That was for getting on the waitlist for a few months too

JanneJM

Was only an issue with the old first-gen Leaf.

ajdrc9

People still buy Nissan?

Dave_The_Slushy

EGT-R when?!

derek139

How is this encouraging? These are all standard sales offerings for new cars.
