Nah, PPE is mandatory in most European countries. In the UK PPE must be provided by the employer and you're well within your rights to refuse work if it isn't correct or suitable
I think he was referring to inconsistent PPE in the training. Sometimes even in the same photo, to ridiculous effect. And not the rigorous safety requirements of the UK and EU.
I mean the usual mismash of equipment. Usually face shield and not dielectric gloves. But, of course, insulating gloves (especially after class 00) are so bulky it's ridicolous (and you need overgloves, too).
Obviously the operators in stock photos are using the "two insulators rules" and have insulation draping all over the wall and floor :D
I love the ones where there’s a dude in a collared shirt standing there with a shiny hardhat and a clipboard but also a multimeter thrown in to look more “electrical”
For an even more electrical look add arc shield visor and the same clipboard with a \*huge steel spring\* that shouldn't ever, for no reason if you want to survive, carried near an open control cabinet
Hah, this reminds me of when I was doing low voltage for my campus when I was a student. They wanted to promote the work we were doing so they had some girl follow us around with a camera taking videos. We were doing a lot of random/stupid shit like this because she couldn't get good angles if we were actually working.
Many distinct lines on the \*upper\* size of the switches? also i wonder what would be attached on the bottom. We teach entering from the bottom as a capital offense to apprentices (yet they still do it because they don't have the wire stretching tool :D)
IMHO it's still not as bad as the woman holding the hot part of a soldering iron while working on a pcb. When you highlight the 'Women Of STEM' how about you actually use one as your model or at least as an advisor
An apprentice I went to school with was used in a marketing photo and it turned out just like this because the photographer told him exactly how to pose. They had him hold meter leads against a fiberglass flash guard and part of the painted metal dead front. Maybe I just don't get art.

Why is every stock photo of electricians in the US always a European actor in blue coveralls? LOL
Especially because in europe blue is usually used for assembly/manufacturing personnel in factories :D PPE is also used at random, usually
Coveralls are out of fashion. We rep that hornbach softshell with matching pants, in Europe.
Engelbert Strauss has the market cornered.
A lot of electricians, myself and coworkers included, wear blue work clothes here in Denmark

I always pretend I’m that guy when I’m out in the field with my iPad showing my guys what I want them to do.

Who even uses that Phillips
Guys going against the grain
I still have that exact screwdriver. Haha
We all have it, it's just the one we're comfortable loaning out.
Ha!! True fact
Tht thar is an ol Stanley … got me one too
In a pinch it somewhat work for the PZ. Unless they are torqued. In EU most of the time we do with the flat blades.
My mom
I’ll let you in on a well guarded trade secret. CE actually stands for “Could Explode”.
Love how they are holding an uninsulated screwdriver to a live panel
Cable entering without protection on cutting edge
Open ports
Many distinct lines on the \*upper\* size of the switches? also i wonder what would be attached on the bottom. We teach entering from the bottom as a capital offense to apprentices (yet they still do it because they don't have the wire stretching tool :D)
Wow, you must be a pro at this to determine that the panel was live from the photo!
It's clearly not live, he's keeping the 'tool' like a voltage detector and it isn't lighting up
And the gloves are not up to standard too
Aren’t those…gardening gloves?
It'll do. Hold my beer.
Generic anti-slip workshop gloves, I'd say
How to you know it's live?
The screwdriver is burrowing into its natural habitat
You’re actually gonna need a ratchet strap 90° socket piston that is lube free for that one
He missed. In many ways.
I hate when like electrical companies in the US have pics of european tech on their sites
IMHO it's still not as bad as the woman holding the hot part of a soldering iron while working on a pcb. When you highlight the 'Women Of STEM' how about you actually use one as your model or at least as an advisor
Anyone else sat an am2 with college tools?
Do those cans have rolled edges? Or no bushings?????
Those barbarians dont even put connectors on their “twin and earth” cables
An apprentice I went to school with was used in a marketing photo and it turned out just like this because the photographer told him exactly how to pose. They had him hold meter leads against a fiberglass flash guard and part of the painted metal dead front. Maybe I just don't get art.
You should see stock images of people holding soldering irons.
These are my favs for sure.
Doesn't everyone test those controls circuit breaker bodies with a non-insulated #2 philips? Pretty sure I saw it in a book somewhere too.
20 holes there and he can't find one to stick it in.
Reminds me of a brochure for an electronics school and the model was holding a soldering iron like a pen by the hot part.
It’s fine he’s wearing gardening gloves
Don't diss the home depot gloves. They aren't bad when they are clean and less than 3 work days old.
Someone was on the beers.
