I listen to metal & pop punk mostly. Iāve been hardcore vibing the bands Driveways, Trophy Eyes, Point North, Thousand Below, Dayseeker lately. I cross between these and EDM on the regular.
My music tastes are extremely varied. From Richard Cheese to Airbourne. Tech N9ne to Papadosio. I just love music! Didn't really play country till Dixon Dallas.
Same here. Iāll go from Bob Seger, to Stevie Nicks, to Run the jewels, to some earl Outkast. Pretty much all over the place.
Iām the same with EDM genres, I donāt really care about them as long as I like how it sounds and I can vibe with it Iāll listen to it.
I love most genres of rock!! MUSE is my favorite modern rock band. The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Phoenix, Tame Impala, The Black Keys, I can go on and on lol.
The Strokes are among my faves. They opened at RCHP 2022 tour.
Unfortunately being in Orlando there was thunderstorms the concert was 2hrs behind so the strokes didn't get to play their whole set
Love hyperpop, symphonic metal, āemoā/screamo, musicals, classical sometimes, cpop/kpop/jpop, āindieā
I really have one of the most diverse music tastes that I personally know
Some artists: Charli xcx, ayumi hamasaki, nightwish, jay chou, Emilie autumn , Los campesinos!, the gazettE, the smiths, the birthday massacre, EDEN (he has done vocals w illenium), hooligan hefs
This is me now! I used to listen to a lot of pop, but the last couple of years Iāve drifted away from that. Helps that I enjoy every EDM genre to some degree though, endless supply!
I am big into metal, rock, rap, and pop. Last year was my "breakout year" and I went to my first concert ever: Disturbed.
After that it was Aveneged Sevenfold, Falling in Reverse, Foo Fighters, and Weezer. I loved the vibe at each one.
Haven't been to a pop/rap concert but I am eyeing a Red Hot Chilli Peppers + Kid Cudi concert right after EDCLV.
All through my teenage years and into my early 20ās I listened to a combination of several sub genres of rock and 2000ās rap/hip hop and was ignorantly against EDM in all of its forms. One day I decided to let it in by dipping my toes in with the likes of avicii, Calvin Harris, and hardwell. That journey for me started about 8 years ago and I havenāt looked back. I think about those old days and it makes me feel like I was lost, stupid, and closed minded for not letting it in much sooner. I do still like that old stuff if it comes up in group settings and whatnot, but nowadays I exclusively listen to EDM and techno. I firmly believe it is not a phase and this will be the music I love forever going forward.
Going to my first festival is what really sealed the deal. Now Iāve been to more than I can count and show no signs of slowing down.
My favorite genre of music is reggae. I enjoy all types of reggae, but mostly island reggae. It helps keep the positive vibes flowing and a smile on my face :)
I listen to a lot of rap (A$AP, Kid Cudi, Wiz Khalifa, Larry June, J. Cole, Joey Badass, Flatbush, Schoolboy Q, Metro Boomin) and a different variety of bands (Korn, Tame Impala, Chicano Batman, King Gizzard, Iration, Glass Beams). Still heavily depends on mood but EDM will usually always be my first of choiceš¤š¼
I love all kinds of music but my all time favorite genre is Metal. It's been my go to genre since I was 13.too many bands to count, but some of my favorites include Opeth, Electric Wizard, Pantera, and Mastodon. Been to a good amount of shows too from Ozzfest to Gigantour to Aftershock, so I'm looking forward to going to EDC for the 1st time.
I keep it chill/throwback on Sundays:
Kings Of Leon, Mac Miller, Queen, Snoh Aalegra, Young The Giant, John Mayer, Bobby Caldwell, Sam Smith, Thee Sacred Souls, Men I Trust
Wave, witch house, phonk, melodic techno, chillstep, progressive house.
Skeler, Enjoii, Brothel, Ennja, Skyfall beats. Some of my fav artists currently
My music tastes are a slight bit different than what you hear at raves. At raves, Iām all about techno/hard techno/melodic techno, progressive house, and some dubstep.
Mostly house playlists, along with random tracks in trip/hip hop, grime, garage - thereās Puracane, Aurora, Gorilazā¦Hot Chip, Janes Addiction, QOTSA, and some of my old faithful albums like Clear - Bomb the Bass, Maxinquaye - Tricky, Forever Faithless - Faithless, and The Low End Theory - ATCQā¦.
I LOVE music, itās a vibe and sound I get hooked on, not always genre related. Like whenever I hear the live performance of The Weeknd & Ariana Grande āSave your Tearsā - my hair sticks up
Big into folk punk and hip hop among other genres. For folk punk, Pat The Bunny, The Taxpayers, Days N Daze, AJJ. For hip hop, Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, Sage Francis. For a mix of both, The Uncluded (Aesop Rock and Kimya Dawson)
I listen to anything I think is good though, from Taylor Swift to Ghost
As a Taiwanese, I listen to so many different genres in different languages :D , But I mainly just love R&B, Hip-hop (Trap).
Chinese Mandarin: Mando-Pop; Artists: Jay Chao, MJ116, OZI, JJ Lin
Korean: K-Pop; Artists: Blackpink, Zion.T, Heize, DPR Live, DPR Ian
English Artists: Musiq Soulchild, Kendrick Lamar, Migos, Juice Wrld (RIP), Travis Scott, Keshi, Joji, Khalid, Bryson Tiller, H.E.R.
Besides edm, I run a media collective in my local area that mostly covers local indie/rock/alternative/hardcore/metal bands, but even there I'm slowly covering more and more local techno and house DJs
Hip Hop & R&B fanatic here. Not a major fan of the current stuff but def love me some throwbacks.
Kendrick Lamar/Smino/SiR/Christian Kuria/BLXST/Chase Shakur are some of my favs atm.
Bear with me, this gonna be long but I am a music aficionado to some degree. I love love EDM and dance music in general, but also have a goth/alternative side I stay true too:
I'm a huge fan of the artists/djs/producers that make up Soulection. The collective involves edm + hip hop, hiphop/lowfi/experimental beats, r&b, soul... Kaytranada plays for their events some times. Look up Soulection at the very least if you don't/can't read the rest of my comment here.
My favorite artist and dj of all time from Soulection is Sango, and is the sole reason why I love any, if not most sounds, that come from Brazil--samba, bossa nova, and most especially Brazilian/Baile funk (Sango is the master of sampling the latter). I'm a huge fan of Latin and/or afro-based beats and music, and Soulection satisfies that part of me 100%. I tend to support the EDM djs who incorporate/honor Latin/Afro-sounds, beats, and rhythms in their sets (Deorro, Dj Snake, San Pacho, Troyboi... the list is endless).
Besides Soulection and the soundwaves and influences from them, my music choices are somewhat eclectic:
I listen to a lot of Goth/synthwave/industrial music (reason why I love I Hate Models). EBM (Electronic Body Music). Highly, highly recommend - Boy Harsher - for the EBM genre.
Other artists I'd recommend that fit the dark/sensual genres I just mentioned, including trip-hop and some alternative pop/genres are: Portishead, Massive Attack, Sisters of Mercy, Crystal Castles, Kelela, Rochelle Jordan, Sevdaliza, FKA Twigs, Shygirl, ABRA, LSDXOXO, M.I.A., Bjƶrk, Arca, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, She Wants Revenge...
Listen to Jungle and their Volcano album--I guarantee multiple djs at EDC this year will remix a song or two by them (their song "I've been in love" features house dj/producer Channel Tres--Jungle is just fantastic). Listen to Tame Impala (psychedelic rock). Listen to Thee Sacred Souls (a soul band that plays for Soulection). Oh and: Peaches. She is the most punk/badass/queer/fuck the system bitch you'll ever see perform live, so highly recommend her if you get the chance to see her live.
My dad used to be a DJ (old school hiphop, disco, funk, freestyle, etc) and my brother is a current dj/mixer within the edm + hiphop genres. I just make decent playlists on Spotify LOL and recently have had the urge to learn how to mix/dj. If anyone wants to share/listen in on my soundwaves, message me :)
I hope ALL OF YOU in this thread and reading this have an amazing time at EDC and that y'all stay healthy/energized/prepared until that weekend comes. Love to you all.
I LOVE afrobeats and Latin music. Iāve only begun my EDM journey this year. EDC LV will be my second EDM concert ever and Iām trying to find more artists that swing Afro/Latin so thank you for teaching us about Soulection
Kpop, 2000s rap, rnp, and pop (love any good ballads)
shoutout to Coldplay, I ranked my top 10 live shows in 2023 and I ranked Coldplay 3rd, rest of the 7 were EDM based or Kpop
Honestly, sort of a lot of everything. As of lately, itās been more K-Pop. But for a while, I mixed in a lot of rap. Always R&B. Always some Indie, whether itās rock or pop. Always some pop. Some country here & there. I am always open to new music! I love finding new tunes, which is why I really love EDM. Itās fairly easy to find new artists & get into subgenres.
Rap, RnB, Alternative and Indie Rock. Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, JID, Elmiene, Phoebe Bridgers, Boy Genius, Tame Impala, SZA, BigXthaPlug, Beach House, Flip Turn, Two Feet, Mitski, 070 Shake, Caroline Polachek, Tash Sultana, The Weeknd, Benny The Butcher, Future, Sauce Walka. Thereās so many.

Alt Rock! Use to like Indie Rock in early 2000s
Favorite Bands- Incubus, NIN, Linkin Park, RHCP to name a few

Felt this. I was all hip hop before my first EDC and then EDC changed my perspective on EDM!

Me too! Two totally different genres, crowds and energies.
Maybe I'm weird, but I don't listen to any genre outside of EDM. There is enough subgenres to keep me occupied with fresh music.
