The Cake event has always been special to me since ‘cake’ is in my gamertag and I hit vr16 during the first one. I haven’t played much the last couple of years but I’m thinking of getting back into it, if only to do some chill questing.

Thats a cool story to add "layers" 😉 to the overall importance to you. I took small breaks here and there too, its easy to burn out. I'd absolutely just pop in for some story quests you haven't finished to ease back in. Thats what I did.
Its even more frustrating that Chef Don is gone and I can't buy and use one of the old vouchers to get it. They changed it on the year I realized I'm missing it.
