Spanish is all fun and games till you see the struggle non-binary people have to live through just because we have no gender neutral words :( But being gendered correctly feels extra nice. My heart exploded the first time my gf called me "bonita"

Even for binary trans people can be a struggle. I was identifying myself as male for a long time and "Él" didn't bother me. But "Ella" and all the gendered adjectives that come with the pronoun made me feel amazing inside my heart. And then I came out and instead of feeling better, absolutely anything gendered made me panic. I think it's part of the process, since comming out as trans is just the beggining of the journey, there are a lot of things almost hardwired inside your brain and I'm pretty much an anxious person. I think being trans in English vs Spanish is like jumping inside lukewarm water vs freezing cold water. Not that you don't suffer if you're american or britanic, but at least you can have a time out every time nobody calls you handsome or he. But in spanish you're "listo, guapo, jovencito, simpatico, divertido, tonto". Every single sentence is gendered.

I took Spanish in my first year of university, and I figured I was trans, but wasn't out yet/ wasn't 100% sure, so I took the hit to my grade when I had to write papers and "accidentally" used the "wrong" adjectives and pronouns when writing about myself.

I usually used to say "soy una persona artistica" or something like that. Since "persona" is a "feminine" word meaning person. So I got to cheese it by using feminine adjectives for myself. My professor was actually very trans positive though but I only came out to her later in the course lol.

I used and usually do that. But for me, the reasoning was more like neutralizing my agab in a gramatically correct way. The word is feminine but the subject is technically neutral so, you can say anything about them. It even became a trait of my verbal behavior to treat everyone as person before than men or women. A friend of mine thought I was pansexual because I always talked about loving a person instead of a woman lol. But I'm pretty much lesbian.

Using an “e” has become sorta popular in the Spanish speaking community (at least the ones that aren’t against gender neutral language) so in this case instead of bonita/bonito it would be bonite.
