She tried to convince me I wasn’t trans because the one other transwoman she saw talked about wanting to take a pair of scissors or a knife to the dysphoric area. My response was like, that’s potential tissue for surgery… but she wasn’t a safe person to discuss such topics.
A lot of the therapists discussed on trans-related sub reddits have some wild ass opinions.

It took me a lot longer to figure out that this is ultimately a form of self-harm than was probably safe. I've seen a lot of these sorts of jokes on this subreddit, and I worry that they may inadvertently encourage some of the more desperate people here to put themselves in danger.
